ah ha ha.You are very good, man.I heard the moustachioed dufus axelrod on radio today dissing cheney for not catching bin laden. Obama and his administration are so freaking lame.
ah yes, the combing over of every interview given and every word ever said. as if that defines who Obama is? I won't define you by the few comments you place here on Youtube, that would be short-sighted and ignorant to who you REALLY are. The War is devastatingly complex and has stumped and frustrated the most senior of military commanders. Donald Rumsfeld made mis-statements so did Robert McNamara in 1967
What does all that mean, it means War is hell and should be the last of last resorts
@ "Obama is LARD": "I didnt know what what Reverend Wright was preaching in his church"..."I wont raise taxes". ..."I never said Iran is not a threat"..."I was born in the USA"...."I wont come in your mouth"
while in Baghdad, i was personally thanked by Iraqis who were grateful for us deposing Saddam. the only thing the islamic insurgents & Al queda understand is our application of FORCE against them. they must be killed & not negotiated with, as NObama would do. he will "cut & run" in Iraq & the terrorists will be emboldened all over the world.
Obama won^^ Guess thats what the American majority wants.
In fact, outside America, every experts wants US out of Iraq-.-
With the US army out of Iraq, terrorists will NOT take over Iraq and the world just like this. The earlier we withraw our army, the earlier Iraq can start 2 rebuild their nation since the violence was targeted at the US army, NOT the Iraqis!
But i agree this will not be easy. The challenge for Obama is to gain support in the middle-east instead of making enemies like Bush.
"Wild dreams" is a great name for you, because the things you write would only be true in your wildest dreams. "Every expert" outside the US wants us out? I notice you dont name a single one.
What exactly is the point here?...that people hear what they want? He didn't say it wouldn't make a difference, he said "it wouldn't make a substantial difference". See how that works?
The opressive slow hand of Socialism is here in America riding in with team Obama. Think about this - DOES BARACK OBAMA HAVE 1 FRIEND THAT ISN'T A TERRORIST, A CRIMINAL OR AN ANTI-AMERICAN?
Obama is a Chi-Town Thug. Just another corupt politician.
What's the difference between a more hopeful kind of politics and old-fashioned attacks? Lipstick.
"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," Obama said during an event Tuesday night." ... it sounds like Obama called Sarah Palin a pig. Is Barack Obama trying to alienate women voters? Maybe he's playing the male chauvinist idiot card. Geez, does he have any sense at ALL???
I guess that's what Obama and Biden are selling. Dean's scream
Why should anyone in America be excited about Palin?? They are trying to hide her from the legitimate press because they know she doesn't know anything! And her speech at the convention? I guess if all you want is your typical right wing smug, sarcasm then she is your VP! But she did not spew one piece of policy and still hasn't!! Get real with yourselves! Bridge to Nowhere? Selling Jet on Ebay?? Not!! what a pathetic VP choice! Country first my ass!
Lets be straight. John McCain is third in line in when it came to making a correct decision with the Iraq war. The first person is Obama by voting against going into Iraq. The second is Gen. Eric K. Shinseki who was pushed aside by the Bush admin. when he told how many troops it would take to be effective in Iraq and third is McCain with the troop surg.
"When Us went to print Monday night, it looked like the ticket was falling apart," says one magazine editor. "They went to print thinking Palin was dead in the water, and their mistake was thinking everyone who reads Us is a Democrat, when they're not.
Give me a break! Her speech was electrifying & was one of the most viewed political events in history. Palin hasn't just dominated the latest news cycle—she hijacked it. The Media Descend to a New Low.
Clearly the mainstream, liberal media likes Obama. Most of these folks are sniveling, idiologiocl commie-libs. And Obama is hard not to like - even if you disagree on some points.
He's a great man! The media stars like Oprah want him in bad, and it's ok for them to use their power to push him. The whole fucking notion of equal time and objective coverage is just sily.
That NEVER existed. And believe me there is plenty of exposure for McCain/Palin. Either way Americans are not confused.
Oprah can do whatever she wants, she's Oprah, nobody tells her what to do with her show, I get it. However, after Sarah Palin got better ratings than American Idol, the entire world was watching the entire press corp sledgehammer her. It looks a alot like political bias. After all, Oprah and Obama both run Chicago right? I think shes been there done that with the talk show and is looking into politics for the future. It IS like her to think big.
Us Weekly publisher Jann Wenner is an outspoken supporter of Barack Obama and the Dems.
"When you look at this Palin cover and contrast it with the super-friendly story on Obama, it's hard not to see that they're clearly biased," said Jane Hall, associate professor at the American University School of Communication.
Us Weekly's June 19 cover featured a photo of the Obamas with the headline, "Michelle Obama: Why Barack Loves Her."
Wenner also runs Men's Journal & Rolling Stone mag.
(Wall Street Journal) All of the most important objectives of the surge have been accomplished in Iraq. The sectarian civil war is ended; al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) has been dealt a devastating blow; and the Sadrist militia and other Iranian-backed militant groups have been disrupted.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi government has accomplished almost all of the legislative benchmarks set by the U.S. Congress and the Bush administration.
It's not spam. It's from the Wall Street Journal.
US Magazine Lost 10,000 Subscribers after Palin Attack, Oprah may have let Tom Cruise jump all over her couch, but she says that Sarah Palin can't even sit on it.

Obama is CFR and will not take America in a direction like the REJECTED Kucinibitch or Groveling Gravel.
Obama has to appeal to the liberal cunts to energize our base. It's all part of politics in our political party to say what must be said to the useful idiots that get out the vote.

If the surge "worked" why doen't Bush just declare victory and leave now. Obama has said on many occasions that concentrating large quantities of troops will reduce violence. If Bush and McCain's definition of victory is a reduction of violence, heck why don't we send another 30 thoussand over there and reduce violence even more and have an even greater victory. Nothing but election year political posturing for Republicans to obfuscate a failed policy.
More important, it is gaining wider legitimacy among the population.
Not only was he wrong, but he's also showing that he can't ADMIT when he's wrong! Is this moron starting to believe his own sycophantic press and think he's infallible? Well, he *has* to, because he is, after all, a man of no substance and no accomplishment. The only thing he can even *pretend* to have is "good judgement", so when clearly his "judgement" was WRONG, there's nothing left but a few vaguely inspirational speeches. His whole campaign dissolves into nothingness. The audacity of hype!
the surge has "worked" in a way but not the way ppl think it has
The main reason it has worked is because the Sunni Resistance swiched sides
and every time they get angry we see how quickly America looses control...... so if they decide they want to start fighting again then we will be bac in the same situation we were in a few yrs ago
Obama was right on the surge! He never said the surge wouldn't help to keep violence down, what he said was it wouldn't achieve Iraq's political goal. What helped the most was the agreement with the Shia's and Sunni's for a cease fire. Obama also said it would take our eyes off Afghanistan and Pakistan, and that our military would be underfunded and would be under in troops! OBAMA HAS BEEN RIGHT ON ALL THE MAJOR ISSUES. MCCAIN HAS NO RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT ATTENDANCE WHEN HIS IS THE WORST IN SENATE
haha what an idiot. Obama said "I don't think the surge will work in bringing violence down, infact I think it will do the oposite". Obama is always wrong, but talks pretty. What helped the most was we chased Al-Qaida out of Baghdad. No doubt you put another democrat back in office you'll get the 90's back. At least 8 major terror attacks on us and nothing real done.
I just don't understand why people woud vote for someone who has never ran a business, didn't serve in the military and dosen't know much about foreign policy. Also he is friends with William Ayers who bombed police stations and other structures, went to a racist church for twenty years, He has a very far left voteing record. Hillary is a hell of alot more qualfiled then he is. I wouldn't vote for her but, at least she chould ask Bill about the economy, or foreign policy.
OBAMA: "uh..uh..uh..I'm going to say what ever uh..I need to say at the time...uh..uh..depending on which way the political spectrum uh...uh..is going...uh"
No milatary answere. then what is the answere!!their was no war before the war /Iraq is wrong but OBAMAis a muslim !! what do you expect him to say!!When he is on his prayer mat I bet your bottom dollsar he isnt praying for the usa troops !! Whats needeis Slobadan Milosovitch > oR-Sadam Hussain !!and 4 nukes on IRAN trouble over WARN the REAST of THE ISLAMIC CRANKS JUSTICE on the way Pacification capitulation wil not work fire must be fought with fire and water
Gun Barrel diplomacy will never work, especially in that region. When we had slavery here in the US and those "uppity Negroes" rebelled, force was always used to quell the violence. While "surges" of folks managed to force compliance with rules, that never meant for a moment that slaves were somehow ready to forever acquiesce to the demands and rules of the dominating society. We are morons if we think the Middle East will remain under our control without a guns pointed at their heads.
Apparently you have very little understanding of the American Civil War, the "uppity" Confederates, the enormous amount of military power it took, and the long Reconstruction that took place to stamp out the rebellions, and alter the economic foundation of the South.
Obama is a puppet of the far left Soros crowd. They normally get the same talking points from George Soros. Axelrod must have forgot his notes & marching orders that day
obama knows absolutely nothing about the military NOTHING you DONT KNOW ANYTHING you havent spoken to anybody just admit well im a total dumbass when it comes to war because i was a pussy who didnt enlist
Moreover, we still have to contend with the Hulking Big Lie about Al Queda in Iraq. The Sunni Awakening is more the result of Sunni digust with Al Quedas grotesque medeivalism than anything else. Shias loathe these foreign born and influenced Sunni extremists and the Kurds at least equally. Al Queda is a feckless and nihilistic cult that Iraqis will exterminate without US support.
Speaking of the contitution, this is from the new constitution of Iraq. Is this democracy? Just asking.
Article (2): 1st — Islam is the official religion of the state and is a basic source of legislation: (a) No law can be passed that contradicts the undisputed rules of Islam.
Article (3): Iraq is part of the Islamic world and its Arab people are part of the Arab nation.
deanrdd. Thanks for unearthing this. But take heart, liquor stores are flourishing in certain sectors of Baghdad [ thanks to 'liberals and secularists'].
Liquor stores are flourishing due to lib and those without occult beliefs? I know many religious that drink wine. They even call it "spirits". I also know those that don't have mystical beliefs and don't take drugs or drink. I know because I am one. Don't fool yourself, we weren't protected by our consitution, the religious in this country would match the hard liners in Iraq and Iran. Just ask Phelps, Robertson, Parsley, Hagee and others of that ilk.
I think you might be under-estimating my reverence for alcohol and suspicion of those who ban or otherwise make it difficult to come by. My central point was simply that the increase of the availability of whiskey in Baghdaad is, without question, a sign of improved mental heath and civility.
Saddam was executed for his war crimes and was not proved be involved in 9-11. I don't recall having Al-Qeda problems in Iraq before it was invaded. Extremist groups feeds on ignorance and it is easy to blame American occupation for civilian casualties while it's really the result of sectarian violence. The extremists exploits this situation to turn ordinary Iraqi's grief for the loss of loved ones into vindictiveness.
American casualties may go down, but it does not mean that we are winning the war against terror unless we improved on numbers on killed, surrenders, captures and defections from the extremist camps. Unless these numbers considerably went up as a result of the surge, the terrorists are just laying low. And since the violence in Iraq are largely really between Iraqis, American presence as amplified by the surge only makes it easier for Al Queda to use American occupation for recruitment.
Why would Al-Qaeda use American occupation of Iraq as a means of recruitment, if there was no connection between Islamic terror groups and Saddam Hussein?
If you state facts about democrats, it is considered an attack. Notice jon kerry has not been able to refute a single "attack" by the swiftboat veterans. The truth is like cryptonite to superman when it comes to democraps.

If you knew what I know, and knew who I know, you would understand that Hussein Obama is the anti-Christ. It's in the Bible. His name Obaa-mah, appears is six different versus regarding the coming of the anti-Christ. Also, if you multiply the number of characters in his name, and multiply by the total of the Son of Perdition, the number equals 666.

Well, now that you're here you can be made aware that I think it is actually YOU that sucks little boy cocks. Anyone who supports the Marxist Hussein Obama probably sucks off little boy cocks.

Before anyone starts off bad mouthing Obama , find out what's really happening in Iraq ! Not what a few decorated dogs on political collars tells the media. Iraq is totally F*@$% up and the rest of the world knows it. Only America tries to justify us being there !! Obama 2008
Who cares what David Axelrod said. I'm not electing him president. I am electing Obama. The other option is four more years of wasted lives and wasted billions in Iraq. I'll take CHANGE thanks very much.
Jesus christ people, you're the fucking reason why the world hates us and thinks we're morons... because people like you vote Bush into office for 2 terms and then support him for a 3rd term, as McBush, while this country turns to shit. FUCKING MORONS
I'm using it for emphasis douchebag. maybe instead of addressing the style of my comment, which is irrelevant, you should address the content. here's an adjective and a noun for you: stupid buttplug
I know most of you guys have a very limited vocabulary, so why don't you get up off your bigotted racist hick asses and look up the word 'substantial.' What fucking difference does it make if instead of say 3000 people dying in Iraq every month, 2900 are dying instead. He is exactly right to say that no amount of troops will make a significant difference since there is a seemingly endless pool of ideologues, like the conservatives, willing to kill for their backward beliefs.
i watch all the news ALL THE TIME. you wanna be a little more specific about what part of the news or maybe communicate your idea a little more clearly so other people that are not trapped in your little skull can understand what you mean?
selective reading moron, read my comment again and see where I said 2900 AMERICANS are dying each month... I SAID PEOPLE... THAT INCLUDES IRAQIS... IT IS TYPICAL OF YOU MORONS ONLY TO CARE ABOUT AMERICAN CASUALTIES AND NOT EVEN TO THINK ABOUT HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE DYING FOR YOUR SHIT PRESIDENT. FUCK YOU ALL YOU FUCKING JESUS BUTTPLUGS
It is simple research: Iraq's pop. is 27 million, with a birth rate (all rates per 1000) of 31.45 and a death rate of 5.37. Canada's pop. is 32 million, with a birth rate of 10.5 and a death rate of 7.3. Please learn to respond politely or we civil people will ignore you.
damn dude dont get all sad. but what liberals tend to do so much is act like the US is responsible for civilian casualties, when al quieda and the insurgency carries all the responsibility
apeman1986 , thanks for your reply , but if you haven't been to Iraq or spoken directly to Iraqi citizens , how can you truly say there's progress there . Let them and the soldiers speak for themselves . Of course areas that are heavily guarded and some reconstructions that we blew to hell in the first place are looking better , but the population and infrastructure are still in dire need. Civilians suffer greatly . Peace
Obama is your typical spineless politician. Ask a question and put your finger in the air to tell which way the wind's blowing. If the wind changes, so does the answer.
Before the Iraq war there was no such thing as al-Qaeda in Iraq. There was never a link between Sadaam and al-Qaeda. In fact, bin Laden hated Sadaam. We did him favor.
Actually the war started when Iraq became a nation. So blame the British for that. Everything else is a reaction domestically andd internationally after that, ie Oil, supporting Hussan, Iraq/Iran War so dont say its Americas problem. We need to leave and let the people that have lived their for the last thousands of years, sort out their own issues. WE ARE NOT THEIR KEEPERS, we dont speak their language, believe in their religion or share their culture, so how are we to solve their problem?
pulling out now would be a horrendous mistake, by giving al quaeda a victory in iraq we're setting a precedent-as long as you hold out long enough, you can beat the united states.
as for obama, he might have plenty of charisma, but he is not ready for the presidency. He has served three years in congress, and the only reason he is running for president now is because of favorable media he recieved after winning the senate seat. make no mistake, obama will run this country into the ground.
daschwartz2 ,In case you haven't been keeping track Buddy ,this country has been run into the ground by the Bush administration and Republicans . Reagan didn't have experience either nor did a few presidents, but they had a vision and so does Obama !! No one will be without flaws , but at least there's hope in Obama . Peace to you
doubtless, bush has been doing badly. but if you have noticed, the democrats havent exactly been doing a superb job since they won control of the senate. at this point, I am by no means happy with the current republican party, but i still think a mccain presidency would be far less destructive than an obama presidency. obama is the most liberal member of the senate, and i really dont see such partisan senator bringing the "unity" he talks so much about.
daschwartz2 , thanks for you comments. You're right about both parties not being so attractive , but we're all missing the point. That's someone else contradicting Obama's statement , not Obama himself like we've seen McCain do countless times. And certain policies do change as the war goes on , but Obama still sticks to his initial statement. That spokesman was off the mark . Let's pray for the best ! Obama 2008
no problem. its great having an intelligent debate with somebody instead of a screaming contest. but you give obama too much credit on that front. not only has he not been in office long enough to contradict himself many times, the reverend wright issue has demonstrated that he is more than willing to change his story for political gain.
daschwartz2, Yeah another sticky issue. But what would you do if suddenly your pastor's remarks made you accountable (which is so unfair) ? If Obama was standing next to the man and cheering him on,maybe then we'd know he was in agreement. That whole thing was taken out of context for the sake of Obama's opponents. It was a dirty campaign of character assassination and Obama's book describes his real thoughts about America and race. Thanks again. Peace
i do admit that the whole thing has been overblown, but i was just pointing out how obama's stance changed continuously throughout the whole affair. at first, he stood by his pastor, and then he slowly moved toward the attitude of denouncement he shows today.
daschwartz2, I think that's normal when the the executive department is not affiliated with the legislature. While the enactment 0f laws belongs to the majority, it can be vetoed by the president who belongs to the opposing party. We cannot have the same incompatibility again if we want to speed things up. Thanks.
well the veto system was set up by the founding fathers as a means of balancing power between the three branches. it is an integral part to our government, and it should not be done away with. but i do understand what you mean as far as cooperation. right now there is a complete spirit of partisanship and an unwillingness to compromise. this is one of the things that is making congress steadily less effective.
I agree but I am not suggesting any constitutional amendment. We need the president to approve (sign into law)what the senate had passed otherwise the check and balance feature of the constitution to prevent any unilateral decision by the legislative branch disappears. I'm just expressing an opinion that in choosing a president, one might want to consider what party holds the majority seat in the senate. Thank you for sharing.
You can throw 100,000 more troops there. As soon as they all leave, CIVIL WAR. For the last 60 years, we couldn't make peace between Jews and Palistinians. Do we really think we're gonna clear the divide between Shiite's and Sunni's, a 1400 year conflict, not to even mention the Kurds.
Obama is right, the war in Iraq is going awfully wrong and there seems to be no end to that war at all. Bring them back, it just makes no sense to sacrifice any single soldiers soul any longer.
You boogies are going to see the biggest back lash from this Obama crap. Not only will he never get the Presidency but white Americans will vote boogies out of every office in the U.S. See you later.
to be fair he says "substantial" effect. i've heard him speak on this before, and his full opinion seems to be something on the order of "of course we can effect some reduction in violence, accomplish some goals, but ultimately we cannot make permanent meaningful change happen with brute force.
Exactly. And the rest of Axelrod's response is cut off in this clip. He says, "He never disputed the fact that if you throw a surge of American soldiers in an area that you can make a difference, but..." (You only hear the "but" the second time the clip plays.) I would like to know why the person who made this video censored Axelrod's response by cutting it off in the middle of the sentence.
I love split-screen gotchas! I wish the "Obama camp" would let the man SPEAK FOR HIMSELF even if it does mean we get a bunch of bizarre stories about what he "didn't know" or fictitious relatives...
Whether you care what they or not is irrelevant. We're all free to our own opinions, and to focus on what we want in our own lives.
But I was simply making an analogy. Obama (like all presidential candidates) has a number of surrogates who go around giving his message. They speak at rallies and fundraising events, and they get interviewed by television shows and newsprint. What those people say is carefully agreed upon within the campaign - they aren't just speaking their own opinions.
People keep attacking Obama for what other people say, rather than what he says. He is not responsible for other people's words. It just goes to show that his opponents are really desperate and are grasping at straws.
Actually, David Axelrod acts as a campaign spokesman all the time. He is constantly being interviewed to give the Obama perspective on issues. Saying that you can't blame Obama for what Axelrod says is like saying that you can't blame Bush for what McClellan said as Press Secretary.
I've never really cared about McClellan said actually. My only concern is what Bush himself did and said as a president, and the same goes for any potential candidate.
Actually you wouldn't have more respect for Saddam Hussein Obama, you'd just call him a politician for attempting to appease people.
Maybe you could tell me who it is, exactly, that we're fighting over there that "defeats" us if we pull out? Terrorists? Because I'm pretty sure they're in other places as well.
Terrorists can't be stopped, period. Best you can do is just move out of any big city, especially New York, if you're that afraid of them.
What we're fighting for is stability in the region. We're fighting for something other than a dictatorship or Sharia-based governmental system. The "defeatist" mentality displayed by Barrack in this comment shows how he thinks we can't possibly win; current progress shows things are getting better.
But instead of acknowledge that he was wrong, his camp chose to perpetuate a falsehood. I'd much rather see him admit he was wrong.
There's nothing I'd like to see more than the eradication of fundamentalist islam, and a calm and stable middle east. But ask yourself this question:
What -if- we can't win? What if it's just an endless death pit that drags on and on like vietnam? I would like us to maintain surge levels for as long as possible, and at least throw everything we have at the situation until we're literally left with no choice but to bail, should it come to that. No sense doing something half ass.
A fair question. One I've asked before. I'm a philosopher by trade, and I have serious doubts as to whether a pre-Enlightenment society can maintain a post-Enlightenment ideal like Democracy. I remain skeptical.
But the fact of the matter is that we owe it to the people of Iraq to at least try, before wringing our hands and giving up (read: the liberal strategy). Things are far from lost, even though we may in fact lose.
Vietnam? Lost by the politicians. Let's hope for better here.
Philosopher by trade! I'm not sure Liberal ideology is what I'd consider post-Enlightenment, as it still appeals to the carnal aspect of survival, only on a slightly more intellectual level. We probably have the same opinion on the matter, actually, and just use different language. I'm no philosopher by trade.
The problem with the presidency situation for me is that we have one candidate that can kick ass, and one that can tidy up around the house. We need both.
Obama almost makes flip-flopping John Kerry look moderate! Almost, at least.
Funny how he wouldn't accept John McCain's invitation to visit Iraq. Can you imagine the soldier's and the C.O.'s response to his negative rants if he were to say it to them directly? Not a pretty situation for Osama--I mean, Obama.
It shows they lie dumb ass.

It will not stop the civil war,
which was due to anti-american sentiments.
Meaning, the surge might help militarity, reduce violence, conflict for the time being.
It will not stop anti-american iraqis to stop hating us. In fact, it will make them hate us more, for trying to suppress opposition with force.
Actually, we are driving all the insurgents under ground. They will strike again once they are prepared.
In short, we need to stop our foreign policy of hate.

OBAMA: 'LIPSTICK ON A PIG, STILL A PIG'
What's the difference between a more hopeful kind of politics and old-fashioned attacks? Lipstick.
"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," Obama said during an event Tuesday night." ... it sounds like Obama called Sarah Palin a pig. Is Barack Obama trying to alienate women voters? Maybe he's playing the male chauvinist idiot card. Geez, does he have any sense at ALL???
I guess that's what Obama and Biden are selling. Dean's scream

I guess if all you want is your typical right wing smug, sarcasm then she is your VP! But she did not spew one piece of policy and still hasn't!! Get real with yourselves! Bridge to Nowhere? Lets be straight. John McCain is third in line in when it came to making a correct decision with the Iraq war. The first person is Obama by voting against going into Iraq. The second is Gen. Eric K. Shinseki who was pushed aside by the Bush admin. when he told how many troops it would take to be effective in Iraq and third is McCain with the troop surg.

I agree, Obama is very bright and likeable!

Al Queda is a feckless and nihilistic cult that Iraqis will exterminate without US support.

molloyx 3 years ago
Saddam was executed for his war crimes and was not proved be involved in 9-11. I don't recall having Al-Qeda problems in Iraq before it was invaded. Extremist groups feeds on ignorance and it is easy to blame American occupation for civilian casualties while it's really the result of sectarian violence. The extremists exploits this situation to turn ordinary Iraqi's grief for the loss of loved ones into vindictiveness.
Countme2 3 years ago
American casualties may go down, but it does not mean that we are winning the war against terror unless we improved on numbers on killed, surrenders, captures and defections from the extremist camps. Unless these numbers considerably went up as a result of the surge, the terrorists are just laying low. And since the violence in Iraq are largely really between Iraqis, American presence as amplified by the surge only makes it easier for Al Queda to use American occupation for recruitment.
Countme2 3 years ago
Why would Al-Qaeda use American occupation of Iraq as a means of recruitment, if there was no connection between Islamic terror groups and Saddam Hussein?

Popalongkid 3 years ago
doubtless, bush has been doing badly. but if you have noticed, the democrats havent exactly been doing a superb job since they won control of the senate. at this point, I am by no means happy with the current republican party, but i still think a mccain presidency would be far less destructive than an obama presidency. obama is the most liberal member of the senate, and i really dont see such partisan senator bringing the "unity" he talks so much about.
daschwartz2 3 years ago
daschwartz2 , thanks for you comments. Obama 2008
Popalongkid 3 years ago
no problem. its great having an intelligent debate with somebody instead of a screaming contest. but you give obama too much credit on that front. not only has he not been in office long enough to contradict himself many times, the reverend wright issue has demonstrated that he is more than willing to change his story for political gain.
daschwartz2 3 years ago
daschwartz2, Yeah another sticky issue. Peace
Popalongkid 3 years ago
i do admit that the whole thing has been overblown, but i was just pointing out how obama's stance changed continuously throughout the whole affair. at first, he stood by his pastor, and then he slowly moved toward the attitude of denouncement he shows today.
daschwartz2 3 years ago
daschwartz2, I think that's normal when the the executive department is not affiliated with the legislature. While the enactment 0f laws belongs to the majority, it can be vetoed by the president who belongs to the opposing party. We cannot have the same incompatibility again if we want to speed things up. Thanks.
Countme2 3 years ago
well the veto system was set up by the founding fathers as a means of balancing power between the three branches. it is an integral part to our government, and it should not be done away with. but i do understand what you mean as far as cooperation. right now there is a complete spirit of partisanship and an unwillingness to compromise. this is one of the things that is making congress steadily less effective.
daschwartz2 3 years ago
I agree but I am not suggesting any constitutional amendment. We need the president to approve (sign into law)what the senate had passed otherwise the check and balance feature of the constitution to prevent any unilateral decision by the legislative branch disappears. I'm just expressing an opinion that in choosing a president, one might want to consider what party holds the majority seat in the senate. Thank you for sharing.
Countme2 3 years ago

You boogies are going to see the biggest back lash from this Obama crap. Not only will he never get the Presidency but white Americans will vote boogies out of every office in the U.S. See you later.

Senator Obama: When will you finally visit Iraq?

WHAT ABOUT AFGHANISTAN??

Obama doesn't know what's going on in Irak or Afghanistan. A clueless commander-in-chief.

Axelrod: "uh-uh-a-a-a-a-a-um-uh-uh..." very eloquent.
intricate3 3 years ago
to be fair he says "substantial" effect. i've heard him speak on this before, and his full opinion seems to be something on the order of "of course we can effect some reduction in violence, accomplish some goals, but ultimately we cannot make permanent meaningful change happen with brute force.
i agree with that view.
fringd 3 years ago

What those people say is carefully agreed upon within the campaign - they aren't just speaking their own opinions.
jeffwax1 3 years ago
People keep attacking Obama for what other people say, rather than what he says. He is not responsible for other people's words. It just goes to show that his opponents are really desperate and are grasping at straws.
grenadianmed 3 years ago
Actually, David Axelrod acts as a campaign spokesman all the time. He is constantly being interviewed to give the Obama perspective on issues. Saying that you can't blame Obama for what Axelrod says is like saying that you can't blame Bush for what McClellan said as Press Secretary.
jeffwax1 3 years ago
I've never really cared about McClellan said actually. My only concern is what Bush himself did and said as a president, and the same goes for any potential candidate.

Is this fool the guy liberals want as our Commander in Chief?
He's a lying douchebag

It amuses to see folks here who are actually defending this pancake flip-flop.
You know, I'd have more respect for Obama if he'd just come out and say, "You know, I was wrong about that one. Time to reassess the situation."
Instead, he has to play to the tune of the far-left (those who define him), the defeatists who want us out at all costs.
Insane.
moonbastic 3 years ago

"HOPE. CHANGE." Naah. Politics as usual.

But what -if?-
anticlimatic21 3 years ago
A fair question. One I've asked before. I'm a philosopher by trade, and I have serious doubts as to whether a pre-Enlightenment society can maintain a post-Enlightenment ideal like Democracy. I remain skeptical.
But the fact of the matter is that we owe it to the people of Iraq to at least try, before wringing our hands and giving up (read: the liberal strategy). Things are far from lost, even though we may in fact lose.
Vietnam? Lost by the politicians. Let's hope for better here.
moonbastic 3 years ago
