on nato missions it's Beryl, kind of a AK74 advanced version with NATO ammunition(5,56mm) in home still AK47/74 (AKMS), in my oppinion still the best assault rifle ever invented

well u cant modernize every unit in an eye blink, it takes serval year, and the worst thing is that when u finish modernization there are already new technologies to be put in use, and the proces starts all over agian, u have the same situation in every country,. that some units are better, but in poland that was a long period of time without eny modernization, thats why now its taking so long, and the disproportion are so big

The Warsaw Uprising was going on the left side of Vistula in Warsaw in the year 1944. Polish Resistance fighter were outnumbered and outgunned during this uprising. Meanwhile the Russians had stopped their advance and stayed in the smaller part of the city on the right side of Vistula. The uprising lasted 63 days the Russians never helped although they were on the right side of the river since day 1 because Stalin told the Russian Army to stay and wait till the Poles bleed to death.

Anyway there was another city which was about to end up in the same way that city was Krakow. Stalin requested to sacrifice his soldiers to take that city.

on nato missions it's Beryl, kind of a AK74 advanced version with NATO ammunition(5,56mm) in home still AK47/74 (AKMS), in my oppinion still the best assault rifle ever invented

well u cant modernize every unit in an eye blink, it takes serval year, and the worst thing is that when u finish modernization there are already new technologies to be put in use, and the proces starts all over agian, u have the same situation in every country,. that some units are better, but in poland that was a long period of time without eny modernization, thats why now its taking so long, and the disproportion are so big

In terms of equipment/amour, I agree. Also, the poles were too dispersed even though they had a large army. Probably because of the notion of defending every foot of Polsih soil. Comendable, yet expediated the end.

Germans had Horses too this time.
Poles used horses only to transport Bofors 37mm anti-tank guns.

Equipped with roughly 341 tanks, including 183 Panzer I, 130 Panzer II, 12 Panzer IV and 16 PzBef. the division lacked some infantry and anti-tank units. Immediately after entering the Polish territory, the division was stopped by the Polish Volhynian Cavalry Brigade.

Poles inflicted heavy casualties on the German unit and repulsed most of its units, which lost roughly 160 armoured fighting vehicles in the battle (between 70 and 100 of them being tanks), mostly to Polish-made Bofors 37 mm anti-tank artillery and Kb ppanc wz.35 anti-tank rifles.

mate, who told u that lie? 2 weeks? last polish garrison in Oksywie made a honorable capitulation on 5th Oct 1939!!!where u from? which propaganda made it to you?by the way, there was never demobilization order issued during the WWII, so polish army was still on fight, it was defeated only in Poland, and even in Poland they kept fighting, just as a guerilla, the biggest resistance formation in the world!, we lost the wa5r to the Russians, in fact, but this is a different story.

Alex9322 read Rokossovsky's memoires if you find them in english or polish. Rokossovsky is the great soviet commander, the pole on a nationality. He was commander of 2 Belorussian front and Stalin trusted him more than Zhukov.

Hey, kid! Some of my friends fought in Afghanistan and Chechnya and I know what I say! A pair of battles won ain't not the reason to be proud of your army. Remember Stalingrad, Kursk, Moscow battle, Berlin battle etc. Red Army saved Warsaw from German demolition. When they ran from USSR. You don't know history at all. Try to read the books. The Russian Army helped Warsaw to get completely destroyed in 1944. In Berlin Polish soldiers fought alongside the Soviets.

The Warsaw Uprising was going on the left side of Vistula in Warsaw in the year 1944. Polish Resistance fighter were outnumbered and outgunned during this uprising. Meanwhile the Russians had stopped their advance and stayed in the smaller part of the city on the right side of Vistula. The uprising lasted 63 days the Russians never helped although they were on the right side of the river since day 1 because Stalin told the Russian Army to stay and wait till the Poles bleed to death.

Tadeusz Bór-Komorowski began Warsaw uprising without coordination with Red Army. Could he do it? Red Army has been exhausted by long approach. And Germans have gone to counterattack with 5 "Panzerdivisionen" including SS troops. RA had their own plans.

Listen 90% of this stuff fell into German hands and most of the equipment was damaged cause most of the equipment was thrown out of the airplanes without parachutes. Warsaw on the left side was completely in Russian hands but Stalin didn't want to help the Resistance fighters because they shared western ideas. This is what happened. Anyway there was another city which was about to end up in the same way that city was Krakow. Stalin requested to sacrifice his soldiers to take that city.

soviet weapons wasn't made of glass, man! weapons and other stuff were dropped in special boxes. if polish army couldn't catch the supply, whose is a problem? even in such tragedy as WW2 polish army couldn't unite in one. USSR has its own interest in "armija ludowa" supporting. Warsaw uprising began by "armija krajowa".
