Reminds me of a famous anecdote about Frank Thring when he was a guest star on The Adventures of Skippy. When he first arrived on set he spotted a damp cloth sack tied to a tree with something obviously alive in it. When he questioned the crew Thring was told that it contained the kangaroo playing Skippy, and it was kept in the sack between takes to keep it quiet. "My God," drawled Thring. "If that's star's dressing room, then I shudder to think what they've given me."
He was an extraordinary one-of-a-kind reduced to spruiking Little Lucifer Firestarters and hosting specialty movies ("Have you seen 'Colonial Classics? ' ") In British show business, he would have been accorded the stardom he deserved.
