Not a stock sti. You need good traction for launching on the 0-60, which the sti has, but past 60 you need straight power, something the Z06 has almost twice as much as the stock sti.
Exactly my thoughts. That's why those ricer cans struggle so much after 60mph. TORQUE and MASS is what moves you. You need a proper big engine to go fast after 60mph.
On topic and a comment to the Video poster, why is it that so many people with '07 , '08 and even '09s have so much mileage on their mustangs? Lol I use mine to go to work too but damn. On a side note nice PURE v-8 sound. I drive an '06 Vista Blue GT. As I said with the mileage, mine has around 28,000 miles on it.

97' Cobra makes 305hp, and 300lb/ft of torque stock...what STI stock can beat that? I'm curious to know. A 2005 STI can match that, with a slightly less powerful engine (300hp), but it still produces the same ammount of torque. Now way would a stock STI beat a Cobra with the work you described.

The thing about Mustangs is that, for the most part, they are pretty mediocre for being a 4.6 liter v8. But they usually don't stay stock for long, and I think that is the whole point.
A stock STI will do 0-60 in 4.6 sec and will beat this mustang in the quarter mile. Mine on the other hand is stage 2 and will do 60 in under 4 sec and would smoke it. So if ur tickled it must be something else :)
I did have a cobra once upon a time and it sounded good, but my sti has a nice distinctive sound which is not ricey like hondas, nissans etc.plus it will easily smoke most mustangs with the exception of the 03-04 cobras. And it has AWD so no wheelspin ! So don't feel tickled the next time your beaten by one !!!
I haven't been beaten by a japanese car yet, I beat the Evos, 350Z s and stuff, I am not saying I can't be beat by an STI but the speed, looks and sound of tis GT is enough for mue until next year, when I upgrade to a Corvette or an SL55.
Well you can check out my vid and see my acceleration. I let off at 75mph. If you go Vette go Z06 because the normal vettes are slow unless supercharged(and they have bad wheelspin) since I've already beat them at the track. I would love to race a Z06...just haven't had the chance.

I simply said I want to race a Z06 and the vette I beat was a 2005 regular corvette although he did have aftermarket exhaust on it. I have a protuned STI with 21psi boost(not stock) and would like to see how I do against a Z06. I know I could at least keep up with it until 60mph since I am getting there in under 4 seconds now. And a regular corvette does not run mid 11s stock !
Ok looked it up on road and track...2005 regular corvette 13.2 seconds quarter mile and 2008 corvette 12.5 seconds quarter. Both can be beat by stage 2 sti with a decent driver...Yes these are not z06s, but I wasn't ever saying Z06s were slow...I just said Id like to race em. A clutch should never be dropped in an sti...bad for the car.Also 5 mph is when the power comes into play after the turbo starts spooling. Stock corvette vs sti...sti will win(Z06 another story...anyway mines not stock(60 in under 4 seconds..check out my vid) and I'd love to race a Z06!

the reason why an STI would even come close is because of AWD. Run it from a roll and figure it out for yourself.
STI (stock) 0-60: 4.7 seconds 5-60: 6.8 seconds
Z06 (couldn't find regular vette) 0-60 3.6 seconds 5-60 4.5 seconds

A clutch should never be dropped in an sti...bad for the car.Also 5 mph is when the power comes into play after the turbo starts spooling. Stock corvette vs sti...sti will win(Z06 another story...anyway mines not stock(60 in under 4 seconds..check out my vid) and I'd love to race a Z06!

Check out my vid under scsti2005 and it will tell you in the replies section...the biggest difference was protuning the turbo to 21psi boost and the exhaust/intake didn't hurt either !!!

corvette will own an sti anyday, the only way the sti is faster is dumpiong the clutch on the line, the 4 wheel drive is the only thing that makes it quicker.

That's b/c many of those jap cars are shitty. Some clown in a Honda Accord (either v6 or 4-cyl.) would have to be out of their mind to challenge a Mustang GT. If I had a GT I would be challenging those gook mobile fools (especially Accord v6ers). I admit Honda is pretty good for what it is, but I still think it's crappy. An STI would even smoke a shitty Accord v6 (a car I would not be caught dead driving) providing everything is factory tuned.

Car and driver clocked 0-60 in 5.2 seconds in a 5-speed '05 GT. Motortrend recorded a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds. I'm not sure about the automatics, though.
