We all need to be very wary of these types of movies. First of all because they are simply emotive with no real evidence presented. 2. The "evidence" that is out there is often tainted by the political aims of groups such as Women's Aid and as such is not reliable. 3. The film, as always, makes no mention of male victims of abuse which are on parity statistically with female victims. 4, Exaggerated figures are constantly put out on the problem in order to get funding from the tax payers.

I did like the part in the film where Celie was holding the razor to shave Albert, who in the book she referred to as ' Mister ' only, Celie stopped herself, but she nearly went to cut his throat. Keep in mind that 70% of the time, women are the abusers.
This means that women are the ones that are using violence, hitting and using weapons against men most often. More men are speaking out and reporting abuse although it is still widely unreported as the man knows that if he calls for help he will most likely be the one arrested, even when entirely innocent.
No one should suffer from abuse.

Be careful not to fall into the feminist-trap of distorting the facts. The statistics roughly equate 70% of instigations in non-reciprocal violence to female perpetrators. That's not the same thing as 70% of severe abusers being women. Which all told, seems to come out about even.
But it's a very complex issue of degrees. Not linear percentiles.

@hispanicdiva Did you CHECK the sources? Google "Dr Martin S. Fiebert - Assaults by Women" for starters. You'll find 271 studies supporting my 'claim'. I left other sources to be looked at, which it seems you haven't done yet. There are 100s more studies in the sources above, you simply have to be brave enough to look at them. It'd undemocratic to claim one group has no fault and to deny that bad things can come from both sexes.

We all need to be very wary of these types of movies. First of all because they are simply emotive with no real evidence presented. 2. The "evidence" that is out there is often tainted by the political aims of groups such as Women's Aid and as such is not reliable. 3. The film, as always, makes no mention of male victims of abuse which are on parity statistically with female victims. 4, Exaggerated figures are constantly put out on the problem in order to get funding from the tax payers.

I have seen so many women whine about being abused but then go back to their abusers and even shun/beat up the ones who try to help. My guess is that Velrch here is in charge of the postings, he's probably blocking them, unless you tube is at fault. Velrch elsewhere on the internet seems his life's work is to misinform and has produced propaganda and all about sexisim.
Personally i think that Velrch has got off ( perhaps sexually) in what he thinks getting the goat of woman in communications with posts on here. Personally i think that's his whole problem to start with, his communications.

Yes, i find it all strange here as well, i have not had answers before my fooled display of expoding on these posts to the Manly man sexists of bible verse conrol & propaganda for male dominance, when actually there are bible verses which are for humanity and not one sex gibberish of empowerment. My guess is Verlch especially enjoys arguing with a woman, blimey i wonder how his dates go? Well look elsewhere on the internet BloodRaaven, you'll see misinformation from Velrch.

Alice Walker wrote the book ' The Color Purple ' and it is a remarkable film that had a light on the horror of Domestic Violence, i am wondering if anyone knows if Alice walker wrote any other books? I did like the part in the film where Celie was holding the razor to shave Albert, who in the book she referred to as ' Mister ' only, Celie stopped herself, but she nearly went to cut his throat. Shug also in the film helped Celie in not cutting Albert's throat.

More false allegations of men being violent towards women I see! That is the reason why so many women now leave their husbands?
The reason the divorce rate is so high is women do not have a big pool with which to choose a suitor. Rather than having 100 men, she is lucky to have 2 or 3.
Then with easy divorce laws, she can take the children and expect spousal support until they are 24, and alimony until they die.
Now if women were really man's equal, why do they need so much money?
