  • Love it, sweet

  • Loved it. Made the camp believable.

  • as always...AWESOME

  • What I like about this..there is no human interaction, all mechanical.

  • This is ridiculous. The combination of intricate realism and absolute buffoonery is unendurable. I couldn't laugh and cry at the same time, so I got a headache.

  • @1emanres It's called "willing suspension of disbelief." :)

  • Absolutely incredible! Take your talent to Hollywood and show those know-it-alls how to do it. That 1998 movie “Lost In Space” sucked.

  • Looks like something that could actually take place.

  • Nice update to a 1965 design!

  • This was amazing!, loved it!...

  • Remeber in space no one can here you...FART!

  • @heterogeneoushuman Dude...that was messed up!! hahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • Awe inspiring....thank you Hasselius00... : )

  • I would be interested to see a re-imagined crash landing on Priplanus would look like, or for that matter, an as-planned landing on Alpha Centauri

  • I love the way you handled the timing, overlapping the different scenes.

  • Great job, this should be the modeling basis for any future movie or tv ventures...on a different note-there's lots of speculation about propulsion concepts for Trek, Star Wars etc. however I don't hear much about the Jupiter series, come to think of it are there any publications that showcase the supposed inner workings and theory behind any of earths imagined technology in the world of Lost in Space? -I would think most would probably enjoy it.

  • @MightySaturn5 Thanks! Regarding the "physics" behind the Jupiter 2, yes, there is a terrific treatment by Duane Couchot-Vore on the dynamics of the Jupiter 2. His website is at duane-n-lisa(DOT)net/stories/lis_j2(DOT)php

  • @Haselius00 Thanks and have a great day

  • As a maker of humble little 2D Flash cartoons, I can only imagine the work involved in this. BRAVO!

  • Bravo! Beautifully done! Too bad you werent in charge of the Lost In Space movie. That movie was a piece of garbage. The fans know what they want to see .The studio execs are out of touch too bad!

  • Utterly marvelous!

  • THAT is what is known as a labor of love!!! Absolutely cool!! You've made this fan very happy!!

  • God This is wonderful ! 5 STAR I can watch this over and over great job!!!

  • @Beatlesfanize Thank You! Again, I hope to publish a higher-resolution version of this video. I am pretty busy with the Interstellar Odyssey web series but I want to eventually return to the Jupiter 2.

  • retro

  • I wish I knew what motors from what jet these sounds were originally made from. It had to be a jet in the late 50's and altered but what jet? I cannot find anything on the net about the origins of this sound.Great job by the way, really cool. :)

  • WOW, that was incredible ! finally someone has done the old show very proud, like rotorr22 said, why couldn't someone like you get the money and approvel to make the movie ? i can't wait to see more.

  • Very well done!

  • Very nice.

  • Very cool :-)

  • My all time favorite TV show, great memories, wonderful work! Thanks for posting!

  • AWESOME!

  • Beautiful and amazing artistic concepcion.Thank you for your creative job and imagination.

  • I really liked that!

  • I want the sound of this thing taking off as a ring tone, it sounds like high speed rotating parts, on the verge of disassembly, throttle controlled energy, multistage, at resonance, I think someone at skunkworks could estimate the emf based on the sound,

  • @jwrn4u Don't quote me on this, but the sound appears to have come from three sources, and in three different stages: factory turbines; sound sampling from "The Day The Earth Stood Still;" and human vocals with reverb, and echo added for metallic resonance. They spent some time on that one.

  • This is the best I have seen yet. I am in awe of your work and can not wait to see more. You have a true gift.

  • will there be an AI onboard the new ODDYSSEY....like the jupiter2 had the B9?

  • @TheHyperdrive99 Yes, the Odyssey has a system named OSCAR.

  • @TheHyperdrive99 That's HAL 9000!

  • @tpcpjc HAL 9000 was on the DISCOVERY

  • WOW! This was way cool.

  • I am speechless. I can't describe just how wonderful this is. I. too., want to thank you for making this. It's so beautiful. The music. The editing. The entire video!

  • I love the use of the viewing screen for status updates, that is brilliant (I understand why it was seldom used in the original TV series). In the early episodes, they had the laser pistols stowed on the bulkhead behing and the right of the screen. Is it safe to assume that such equipment was brought on board when the ship went to Earth?

  • This give an impression of a very mature technological base for the whole Jupiter project. I got the....impression from the TV series that the Jupiter 2 was more on the cutting edge, almost experimental. It is exciting to see this reimagining. One can imagine the shock of the developers when the Robinson party is "lost"

  • I love the astrogator work that you did!

Is that some form of plasma in the large tanks near the pad?

  • @drwayne88 I believe whats in the tanks is the 2097 version of 'Deitronium'.

  • You got that right! I knew before that movie was made that those butt heads in Hollywood would screw it all up. What a tremendous amount of creative energy went into making this video. I'm just as fascinated with the Jupiter 2 as I was as a 10 year old kid in 1965!!! You guys putting up these video got it right and that is exactly what we want to see. You cannot improve on the either the structure of the ship or the elegant/artistic interior high tech design. The concept is radically genius!

  • @cinematic35 I couldn't have said it any better, spot on buddy!

  • This is excellent! My congratulations sir, you are very talented. Very impressive. I would be interested to see some more of your work. Thanks for posting this.

  • I'd love to know how you created the engine sound. Did you sample the original, then create your own extended version?

  • @Enigma758 Exactly. I used Audacity, which is a free open-source sound editing program. You can drop a short sample of the J2 engine sound, loop it, enhance, etc.

  • @Haselius00

The sound of take-off, if you don't count the first episode, was always cool.

  • Yeah 2097! The original show got the millenium wrong, didn't they? LOL!

  • @Enigma758 Back in 1965 the USA was spending a good amount of money on NASA.. LBJs 'Great Society' changed all that.. The Space program was gutted... If it were not, who knows what 1997 would have given us : )

  • @antifatbastard That is a point I have been hammering on for years. If you can put a man on the on in 1969 because of the Kennedy 10 year project what are we doing using rocket power 43 years later. That is unacceptable! Why do you think Irwin Allen created Lost in Space--just for kids in 1965? It was an attempt to

inspire our science/physics departments to look ahead to the next logical step in the space program.

What are you gonna do? wait till someone else invents it? Stupid mediocrity!

  • @cinematic35 That show inspired my life and my brothers... I became a Meteorologist, but my brother,, he made it to the USAFA and became a Jet Pilot !!! He was on track for NASA, but the anti Space Congress killed that.. anddd US.................. Cinematic, you are exactly RIGHT............

  • IMO, this could very well be the coolest animation video on youtube! Irwin Allen would be proud!

  • Irwin Allen would indeed would be proud--great minds think alike. Too bad we don't have great minds in Hollywood today. We don't inspire or create greatness anymore. The abomination of mediocrity is evident everywhere! The guy who made this video is a genius cause he doesn't have access to the best the film industry has to offer but he does have two vitally important talents that the film industry would be wise to take note:INNOVATION and IMAGINATION. Guys like him are an inspiration!

  • Very, very COOL. Bravo!

  • I watch this at least once a week... Never saw anything like it.. It captures Lost in Space, the first 5 episodes... One word,,, WOW............... thank you for this!!!

  • @antifatbastard Thank you so much! I am still planning on re-rendering this video in HD-quality, along with incorporating some updates, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Too busy with the new web series right now, but I - more than many others out there - want to see the old girl fly in glorious HDTV detail!

  • @Haselius00 Thank you my friend... Irwin Allen, Peter Packer, would have been touched and in awe of your ability to tap into what they originally eventured to do...........

  • This is amazing, right down to the details. You've already done what Hollywood couldn't do...make a video without ruining the originality. Love the soundtrack.

  • What happened to your website?

  • @soxster101 The URL has changed, and so has the focus of the show. Go to InterstellarOdyssey - dot - com for a discussion in the forums.

  • The show is iconic! With a decent budget, some good 'ole fashioned writing, a cast with something interesting to say, skills to say it in a meaningful way and SFX like this...she could easily fly into a prime time slot today! Nice work! Keep it up!

  • I love it!!!

  • So anybody have a clip of the engine sound would love to have one, I bought the first season sound track but it only has music still very cool!

  • If you do a web series, PLEASE, do it like the 1st 5 episodes.. Serious and strong willed.. Maybe not have Smith? Smith ruined the show.

  • Love the Jupiter 2!! The sound of the fusion core makes on take off is music to my ears

  • ohhhh a link to the website pleeeeese....

  • why isn't the Robinson family in the sleep chambers?

  • @bigboyusa3 Read the description :)

  • Sooooo sweeeet! I liked how the astrogator dropped from the ceiling. You do not know how much this makes me smile. Thank you.

  • This is seriously amazing. Excellent!

  • Wow... this is too cool.

  • What about the original tripod launch platform? I always liked the fact that the Jupiter II took off from familiar surroundings, with institutional-looking buildings in the background. The NASA-esque Alpha Control jargon was familiar to viewers, and I think the intent was to create an anachronism--a launch set in the "future," but grounded in '60's to '70's technology.

  • @eswyatt If you want to see the original platform in CGI, Check out HamiltonPL's channel.

  • Lots of work gone into this, very nice. Spaceship sounds like it's powered by Pink Floyd.

  • I love the sound of the reactor cranking up - iirc it is from a real life turbine electric generator. Love to get hold of those sounds in isolation for my ringtone!

  • whee is the website can't see the link only your channel

  • when does the web series come out?

  • @vt2vx Still in pre-production. Check the website for more details, thanks!

  • love it!!!

  • Not to my liking

  • You've done the old girl proud. If only the idiots that produced the movie had understood the reasons why we loved the show. They made the same mistake that JJ Abrams made when he redesigned the iconic original Enterprise. If its not broke, DON"T FIX IT!!!!!!!

  • @rotorr22 Exactly RIGHT!!!!!!!!! and I don't need Mrs Robinson swearing and being bossy and Professor Robinson being a weak nerd......

  • @rotorr22 I love the Jupiter 2. It remains my favorite spaceship of all time.

  • Really smooth transitions and shading effects. Ship drive audio superb.

  • Can you imagine how fast the old girl would have to be moving to get away from Jupiter that fast?

  • Awesome music and cgi, quite an undertaking.

Great imagination and realization of your idea and an

    iconic tale.

  • Fine FX, you should be proud. What is the musica?

  • Marvelous dear boy!

  • Excellent work I commend you!

  • Don't redesign the Jupiter 2 !!! What you did here is a MASTER PIECE!! What 20th C Fox should do is have YOU remaster the whole 1 st season...Think of what you could do!!??!!!!!! THANK YOU for your talent and GENIUS here!!!!!

  • Very nice piece of work - captures the spirit of the original series with a nice retro look. I hope they employ you if they ever decide to make another series or film.

  • VERY nice work! The movie (what a bad joke) - with it's 'tribute' to the original Jupiter 2... BAD! Jeez - something like this, is head & shoulders above it. Excellent!

  • @uszoninyc why wasn't there a follow up to the "NEW MOVIE" at first I hated it but I am started to appreciate it a bit more, although i could never stand William Hurt. in any movie. he is on my annoying lists ..along with Tom crusie , travolta, will smith and other fem actors.

  • WOW ! The texture on the ship and the audio are fantastic. they fill my room and my spirit !

  • Wow! Excellent next step.....

  • A truly wonderful CGI exercise! Thanks for posting!

  • Well done!!!! my friend, WELL DONE !!! Amazing insight into all aspects of the J2, launch facility, Planet Jupiter, Engine core (amazing by the way) Outstanding imagination of the scanners topside etc, and what an original idea for the gyroscope unit being elevated!! Well don!! As a long-time Lost In Space devotee I must tip my hat to you. I ONLY WISH THESE IDEAS WERE CONSIDERED FOR THE 1998 MOVIE. GREAT JOB AND A MILLION THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WELL TALENTED WORK AND EFFORT!!! GREAT GREAT !!!!!!!!

  • I really like the CGI work you did, it looks great. Have you thought about revamping the look of the Jupiter 2?

  • @nerox2006x Thanks Nero! I already did revamp the ship for the web series. See my video "Jupiter 2 Redesigned" for a preview.

  • now this is what i'm talkin about !

  • I love this!! All of the elements that made the Jupiter II captivating as a kid, have been reborn now as an adult. To bad Irwin cannot b here to see his brain-child get a new lease and renewed interest. There are so many subtle little effecst that you brought to life.....sheer genius.

  • OMG!!! Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn you are good!!!!! Hell the studios need to hire you to do the animations and relaunch the series. I guarantee I WILL be watching all ya have posted and anymore you do!!! Hell of a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fantastic effort. I really like this video. It brings back memories from my youth.

  • For someone who experienced first-hand the original series and spent countless hours fantasizing about it, what you have done is exhilarating to one's core! A kind of re-awakening of childhood memory. The use of updated music--is some of that music by Can Atilla from Turkey?--alongside snippits of the original incidental music is exciting. You might enjoy David Hykes and the Harmonic Choir's "Arc Descents"--it would fit in as well. Fantastic work, Victor!

  • Loved it when the astrogator came down! I've always loved the Jupiter II spacecraft!

  • It's a shame that FOX has to be so anal about the music, but I loved the piece you chose for the flight scenes. Great space travel music! :)) You are both a superb visionary and music director. I'm subscribing this minute!

  • WOW...AWESOME...Finally someone has the intelligence to do what weve all been waiting for. More "original" LIS. None of that new line cinema crap. Keep working hard at making this. Its the hard work of the original team that made the original LIS still awesome to this day. So the hard work yr doing now in making this, may still be around in generations to come, if you stick with yr vision, and do it right. Dont take shortcuts. Take yr time, do it right, and we will all love it forever !!! --- TY

  • I liked that you took the nostalgia and blended it with dynamic CGI. If they should ever 'special edition' the Lost in Space series, you proved it could be done.

  • I commend you on a job well done! Top drawer CGI that would benefit from some tweaking that only multi-million dollar technology can provide, and you are well on your way to being the next John Dykstra of 2020 -- The year we've been in contact for ten, and to be perfectly honest, the newness has worn off and we are getting on each others nerves and feel this strong urge to blast a few 10 year old friends to kingdom come!!

  • I am BLOWN AWAY! Thank you for this!!!

  • My hat off to you for this video clip of the Jupiter 2 launch and space flight. It is the greatest spaceship ever, the Jupiter 2. How did you get the other ideas for functionality of the spaceship?, say the astrogator being lowered from the top of the bubble to the first floor? That is amazing. Why can't Hollywood make ships like this? I think you should work for Nasa. I have a feeling that there is going to be a ship like this in the near future. Just amazing, Victor

  • I actually can't wait to see the whole web series from what I have seen so far its going to be very exciting.

  • Absolutely amazing computer graphics. Great job its obvious you have a talent for it. Now are you doing this because of a future CGI series? If so I would most definitely watch it.

  • @ALCAPPELLO This started out as just a fun "hobby" video for me. Now I am involved with the new web series and am doing the CG work for that. The title sequence is more or less finished and we're working on the Prologue to the first episode. Thanks everyone for your comments and encouragements!

  • VERY nicely done...

  • Very impressive!!! When can we see more?

  • I love the sound effects which are so similar to the original TV series, but more "intense" due to the animation; I also commend the music selection which adds to the overall feeling of the video.

  • Nicely done!

  • Sweet! I can Watch This a hundred times ,And it still gives me shivers.

    GREAT Job ,,,WOW.

  • @Beatles Fanize -HOLY COW! THIS IS BEYOND COOL! A great tribute to the original series! Takes me back to my childhood when I watched this show! It would be great if somebody made a video game of this, imagine the sales!!

  • Well, that was pretty cool! Can't help but love that whole 60's sci-fi technology!

  • That is beautiful. I love the window covers, hatches and scanners, readouts onscreen.. all that. Very smooth and clean.

  • Excellent artwork,...

  • That was awesome with a capital AWE!

  • very cool, small error at 3:39

  • Awesome work, looks great... very enjoyable

  • This is marvelous. I stumbled across it by accident but have been back to watch it several times. And recommended it to friends of mine. The launch sequence sound effects of the fusion drive is one of the best in SF. And the flight sounds are eerily enjoyable.

Can hardly wait to see part 2. Now I'm going to check out your other postings.

  • Very nice!!! Loved seeing the jupiter in flight again !... Good sound track too! .. CHeers!

  • I hope before you fall asleep at night, you get a very good feeling about how happy you've made many people with your work. LIS was, and still is, the reason I'm an astronomer. You've brought the Jupiter 2 to life, expanded on machinery we only imagined, and done so very faithfully. This may have been just a hobby video, but the effect it has had on we Jupiter folk is so much more than I think you envisioned. Thank you for the talent and passion of your work.

  • I'm blown away by your talent! You captured the sound of the Jupiter 2 perfect and the graphics, and your ideas makes me want to watch this over and over. Excellent work!

  • Amazing! Thank you for sharing this with us, the LIS die-hards of planet Earth. This is proof positive that the Jupiter 2 design is the greatest sci fi works of Hollywood. I'd do anything to be able to create this stuff on my computer.

  • Please keep us posted, on when part 2 comes out. I loved Lost In Space, when I was a child. I even had a toy Robot. Wish I still had it.

  • Oh man, this is just the best. So much better than that lame movie in so many ways. I am in almost as much awe as I was in 1965 as a kid. Thank you!!

  • Thank you, you have no idea how good it made me feel to watch this. Probably my most beloved memory as a kid is watching Lost in Space and being completely captivated by the sights and sounds. This brought back that feeling again.

  • @JJCANE2 Thank you! And thanks to all who have commented so far. I've been "late" with working on Part 2. Real life sometimes gets in the way :) But I am still (slowly) progressing with the interior tour and some more in-flight sequences.

  • i am a die hard sci-fi fan mostly trek but i have always had a thing for Lost in space . LIS did unfortunately make the journey from serious Sci-fi to action adventure by it's second season. The Jupiter 2 was a simple and wonderful design and you have done it justice in your attention to detail. (I'm sure everyone always wondered what all those antenna were for on the top half of the hull was for.) Also, the astrogator going into cruise mode was amazing. Excellent job please do more.

  • I loved this show as a kid. I will always remember that one episode when Will went back to Earth by himself. I was all happy and just sitting on the edge of my bed watching these episodes after school. We just don't have good shows like this on TV any more. There's all these reality crap shows that are just soooooo stinking stupid!!! It wouldn't be fun growing up in these crappy times. I'm sure glad I was born in the mid 50's to experience these great shows while growing up!

    Thanks 4 this post

  • This is great. I've viewed all your vids! LiS as it should have been!!

  • Good job. I wish you had made the movie instead of that crappy theatrical version back in '99 or whenever. I wish you would have incorporated the original elevated launch platform, though.

  • This is great! Always thought the Jupiter 2 was an intriguing ship! Although I love Star Trek, always felt a little sad to hear Trekkies say the Jupiter 2 was cheesy. Thanks for posting! Also, I loved the freezing tubes aboard the Jupiter 2!

  • If I redesigned the Jupiter 2 I would have enlarged the dimensions, INFACT I have designed a new Jupiter 2 with enlarged dimensions!!!

  • This is what the ship should have looked like in thr remake movie!

  • Just found this. I was wondering, can I live inside your head for a while? :) This is absolutely brilliant! Your attention to detail is inspired. Thank you for sharing this!!! I especially love how you've given the Jupiter 2 *speed*. No wobbly saucer on a wire here!

  • Excellent animation. Thanks.

  • hi im anthony could you contact me id love to ask you if youd be interested in working on a creative project with me thanks tony:-)

  • Brilliant!

  • Amazing job, Hollywood needs to hire you to make the next Lost In Space. Would love to see a real remake of the show this time.

  • eerie, how we will still be wearing ties in the future. @2:34

  • awesome!!!

  • @Haselius00 Very nice! The models are pretty sweet, especially-- where did you find the dimensions? I was working on a Jupiter mock-up from just memory and eye-balling it with a 3D CAD program on my old MAC some years ago, but it just didn't do the original justice and so it was abandoned.

I can see this as TV show!

  • Haselius00 your work on the JUPITER 2 is an inspiration for all who wish to escape Earth in the 21st Century. 02.22.2011

    FREE YOUR MIND...

  • that was fantastic - wow..very very impressive

  • First-Rate!! Loved it.

  • Agree with both comments about the engine sound of the Jupiter 2, to this day it is one of the best sound effects ever created! It has the sound of absolute power being generated and the way it builds in stages is one of the coolest effects ever done. It has been copied but no other sound in the history of sci-fi has had such detail or imagination and will always get my attention. I wish I had a two minute recording of the sound to play during summer on my car stereo with the windows open!

  • Amazing!

  • That is fantastic! Best run of the J2 series I have seen to date.

  • And as a thought, the sound of the J2 fusion engine, still gives me chills just as it did in 1964. with out a doubt the most recognisable sound effect of all time.

  • @roustaboob I agree about the sound. There was something about it that always conveyed unimaginable power. It was re-used several times for other TV shows. But it's something that truly belongs to Lost in Space. Thanks!

  • @Haselius00 Yes I love that sound too, it (too me) is relaxing, something like 'white noise', I recorded it to my cell phone.
