  • this song will always remind me off my boyfriend ,nickname the animal i waited for him for 25 years and i got him now he,s a big fan off waylon and this song expresses everything he is doing to me exept some negative parts in this song.

  • Shel wrote Boy Named Sue too

  • @Araanim are you sure about the songs that Shefl Silverstein wrot;e??

  • Is Shel Silverstein the one that wrote the books "The light in the attic" and "Where the sidewalk ends" ???

    YES

are you sh***ing me? i did not know shel silverstien helped write this... where can i find a list of other songs he helped with?

Most of the songs by Dr. Hook in the early years. And several Bobby Bare songs.

  • Is Shel Silverstein the one that wrote the books "The light in the attic" and "Where the sidewalk ends" ???

    YES

  • Waylon´s best...

  • Is Shel Silverstein the one that wrote the books "The light in the attic" and "Where the sidewalk ends" ???

  • Check out Marty Robbins version! It's a really great cover!

  • oops, the garbly gook comes at about 1:11 right after "he's a doer and he'll do her"... sorry, should have checked that first

  • are you sh***ing me? i did not know shel silverstien helped write this... where can i find a list of other songs he helped with?

also, i enjoy this song, although it's sad, but, what the heck are the lyrics right after he says "he's a taker, and he'll take her...

?&^%$#@! garbaly gook???? what is that little phrase there?

  • Not bad, KK's version is much better...

  • Kris Kristopherson couldnt sing worth a damn. I've heard better singers in a karoake bar. He wrote some hellacious songs tho!

  • @paulpankau i believe if you look it up Kris wrote this song also

  • @paulpankau I actually like Kris's voice, i mean yeah he dont have the voice of an angel but i like it, probly cuz i cant sing great either, but yeah he did write some fucking great songs.

  • If I had to keep just one song for the rest of my life, it would be definitely that song. The lyrics are just so wonderful...and his voice, oh my God, THIS VOICE...the best I have ever had. Thank you Waylon Jennings, YOU " make fly higher than I had never dared to..."

  • This is one of my favorite Waylon songs, but I like the "live" version better, found on the expanded "Waylon Live" album on Buhda Recordings. I bought the CD on Amazon. There are 2 expanded Live Albums, one with about 20 songs, the other with about 40, from 2 live concerts in the mid- 1970's. It's Waylon at his best, which mean, simply, THE BEST!

  • Waoov!

    One of my greatest favorites!

  • nice mellow voice, but no Kristofferson

  • Shel Silverstien rocks as a writter. Sounds like a lot of his books

  • excellent ventriloquist....

  • My Dad dedicted this song to my husband and I when we got married 14 years ago. 2 months before he died in 2001, he said that he was wrong about my husband and that I had made a good decision.

  • That was terrible for your dad to make the dedication. His regret was that he was wrong from the day he made the dedication, not from 14 years of witnessing your marriage.

Your dad must have loved country music and expressed his feelings through the songs he knew and understood.

  • waylon rules. ps spelling for "Kristofferson

  • watasha

  • hard for anybody to beat waltashi

  • watasha

  • for reall!! he will and he did!

  • Great classic Waylon song. Waylon will always own this song. No one can sing it like Waylon.

  • You got that right!! No one will ever sound as good as Waylon! Ever.

  • Thanks i've searching for this exact version of the song for quite awhile!!

    this is great!!

  • Thank you for keeping Waylon alive for the next generation

  • this is a great song. even better when Kristopherson sings it.
