Chris pisses me off. he is a damn robot. it sounds excatyl like Marty's version. it's coll, but there is no emotion in it. when Marty does there is. that's why i like Marty more.
At least he doesn't absolutely butcher it like Glen and Al did. It's one of the most epic solos ever written, the fact that he plays it so well is impressive on it's own. It's Marty's solo, Chris has no emotional attachment to it anyway.
Man I hate to say this but I think Chris can play Marty's solos better than he can. He's extremely talented... I've watched every song and he just totally nails everything with total clarity. However, with that being said, as good of a guitarist he is, I don't think he will come close to the uniqueness, originality, and overall, won't have the same impact that Marty had in shaping the band's sound. But I still reallllly hope Dave keeps him.
Nicely put. Overall i'd say marty is the better musician, based on his style, which was really unique in the metal genre where - lets face it - most soloists memorize pentatonics and play them as fast as they can.
A guy with such talent as Chris has surely will develop further towards his own thing. You have to consider that he's kinda bound to some concessions he has to make in a band with a huge history. Maybe that holds him back a bit.
Well, Endgame was basically Chris letting loose showing some of what he can do. Hopefully he'll stick around and we'll see his amazing talent develop over the course of time. Seriously, he's exactly what Dave (and thrash) needed at this point.
But, I bought Endgame, and I fond that the solos really lacks punch.
