Simply amazing. White still has all of his major and minor pieces and still gets mated.! True genious by Najdorf. Thanks for the great vid and commentary.
Canstein2 is obviously mistaken when he says Najdorf was born Argentinian (at 1:40) - but I can't quite get what he says right after (is it: "he was born in Argentina... then Poland"? Born twice? ;)). This master WAS born as Mieczyslaw Najdorf, WAS later known as Miguel Najdorf, but....... obviously must have played THIS game under his BIRTH NAME, since it was played BEFORE the war :)
Najdorf is a great player but I'd rather say that he needed his oponent's help to finish in such a brilliant way.Remember that was all about White's blunder with Knight g5.Karpov may not seem such a shining tactitian but it just may be because of fortune didn't give him such soft opponents as Najdorf had
King h1 also looks like a mistake. I think White has better chances after king takes bishop on h2. After queen takes the knight on g5, white can move the knight from e2-f4-h3 to halt black's attack on the king side.
this scares me

One of my favorite games - it would have been interesting to be inside Najdorf's head to see just when he realized what he had done!

That was a beautiful game. One of those games that the opposition didn't have a chance after the first check. Great commentary.

Yes, it's definitely one of the best games I've seen.
To sacrifice all 4 minor pieces for a win is really something.
