That being said, I am not here to compete with Zak, nor do I pretend that I am a better guitarist than he is. Its no secret that Zak is a fantastic guitar player. I am here to have a good time, play some good music for those who are willing to listen to me as the guitar player that I am; NOT as the guy who replaced Zak. Those who have a problem with my playing are invited to say so IN PERSON, and if my "unauthentic" rockabilly tone is so audibly offensive, you're welcome to turn off the stereo.

I became aware of this thread with its childish criticism, and constant comparisons to the old lineup, just this weekend when a friend asked me if it bothered me that so many people were "bashing" the alley dukes. Before I get into to anything let me say that I thought I left this adolescent dramatic bullshit behind when I graduated high school (which, from what I'm told, was far more recent for me than for the majority of those firing off criticism from the security of their living room)

Definitely not the Dukes I remember. "Reunited Alley Dukes?" You can't have a "reunion" without the original players showing up for the party. The music lacks the tone, the feel, and the authenticity it once had. I heard "Alley Dukes reunion" and got all stoked to hear them play again. I'm afraid I was really disappointed with this performance because I expected more from the Alley Dukes, not a group calling themselves the "Alley Dukes."

I think if there's an issue here, it's more of the fact that the name is still being used.

It would be no different if Pete Townsend were to get a bunch of different fellas together and call it the Who. Not discounting the skills of all involved, and it is all a matter of personal preference, but I prefer the 'Northern Rednecks' line-up.

Zaks NEW projects (which are not solo ventures at all) are fucking AWESOME too.With the amount he's gigging...i doubt he has time to make up fake profiles and fuck around. Furthermore, even after The Alley Dukes drummer posted "The Matadors suck" as his facebook status... im STILL a fan. So whatever. keep on keepin on.

I have been and always WILL be an Alley Dukes fan.Those first few recordings blew my mind and I have a tremendous amount of appreciation and respect for what went into those still.Sure the lyrics were funny and irreverent but, that was part of the charm that drew ME in. To me, that is how rockabilly should be done. I wish the new band nothing but the best .

You're review is based on a shitty youtube recording of a first show, take a look at his more polished stuff with Joel Kaiser and the Devil's Own then tell me he sucks.

@ZANTI666 Dude, this isn't Zak. Neck scarf & cowboy hat? He wouldn't wear generic old man accessories. Neither would he make as many orcwad mistakes (singer interupting solo for one), haha. If you compare the old videos of the Dukes you will hear a big difference.

I saw them 3 times in Montreal and they never had the same lineup except for the singer and the guitar player!?!?!?

As a Gutter Demons huge fan, I'm looking forward to see them in September with ex-GD drummer and bass player... I guess they'll prove to pricks like you that they're not just rip-offs...!
