You two have the best life ever!! Dave I like the wing flex you your Sky Soar, Jeff I hope you didn't break a wind when you came down. I just got this same plane, had to get new wings from NP, they came damaged, but thanks for a great company! They're replacing them right away... Very nice videos Dave, keep 'em coming... HSF.
awsome stuff. since I seen the last glider vid and Jeff with his dynam sonic 185 in high winds that has pushed me to try around here knowing the plane will handle it.Lots of fun and found it rather dificult for a rookie. lol. Waiting for parts now but had a blast trying.... cheers to you and yours and fly hard and fly long!
Nice flexability in the wings Dave. I used to do a lot of ridge soaring out here at the beach (CA) and lots of drafting with a "High Start" at the Rose Bowl. Lots of fun. I still have an un built ridge plane. You've given me the boost I need to finish it. (It's been on the shelf for 25 years! Thanks!
great video, i wish my "soaring" in high winds went as good as yours. that poor hawk sky never had a chance, lol. but i have some new electronics for one the scratch builds i've been playing with
Hey MR. H! Have you ever used windfinder? It is a great website that mostly tailors itself to windsurfers and sailors but their wind forecasting is usually spot on and is how I plan my flying week. They also have a windows/sidebar gadget that makes it very easy to see when the best flying times will match my work schedule. Check it out!
@dfarmercse To prevent having to walk way down the hill in the back, I had to use the motor occasionally to keep the plane on the face of the hill and land. It was exhilarating to say the least, as the air was being sucked out of our noses at the same time. LOL
@NightFlyyer No! Thank you! You're videos are very informative, I always learn something. I'm going to make a Raven next using some of your tips and then a glasses cam. Thanks for all the posts! PS Is there more than one web site that shows your videos?
Great flying on Memorial Day, Dave and Jeff. I am always a fan of both of you and you seem like great flying buddies since time immemorial (no pun intended). What's your story?
@dietcoke1996 I made a video on the Stormlauncher and it turned out Jeff had one. He was looking for videos on it, and found me, living here in the same town. At the time I had been here only 1 year, moving from San Juan Capistrano, Ca. and we began flying and having fun since.
I never knew such a thing was possible (I don't have any RC machines). This reminds me of the crows that hover near the top of the Cajon Pass in SoCal. 4000' might not be the greatest height, but it aint bad for 60 miles from the ocean.
Hi Mr. Herbert! I have been watching and enjoying your videos for almost a year now and I recently purchased Phoenix flight simulator. I was wondering if there was some sort of way that we could fly using the online function together. Feel free to send me an email about that. thanks!
@desidudes78 Thanks for the offer, but I only fly my Aerofly 5.5 now as do many of my friends, so I don't foresee me reinstalling it on my machine. Thanks again and happy flying.
@slvmnr I can still put my hands on my original Hobie Hawk. I even have the box. I used to sit at Shore Cliffs in Dana Point for hours flying it and many others. I do miss that, having lived in SJC for over 45 years. But here we have to prove ourselves it seems, so it is all about extreme weather. It is good practice for sure.
I'm a huge fan of gliding. There is no better way to enjoy a windy day than with a good glider. Your wing flex almost makes your glider look like a bird flapping its wings....
@freemarlochip Not You. B52s and B36s had big wing flex, but not like this flapping away. It is not normal, and a stiffer wing makes for a much better flier.
@HostileHST We hardly used the motors at all and you can see that as my planes prop is mostly just windmilling. When soaring the point is to see how long you can fly with no motor. It is a test to see how well you can fly the currents. I can slope soar just about any plane I want up here in these winds. It is just a matter of learning how to do it and fully understanding the flight of the plane.
i'd like to take my blizzard for a glide sometime.

First NightFlyer vid I watched was the same site with a FireBird Phantom!
Another ship to fly at F3F sites is an EDF jet with no landing gear. Good penetration.
