  • i'd like to take my blizzard for a glide sometime.

  • you guys have motors on your gliders, you cheaters ;-P. check out my latest video to see 40 mph winds, thick fog, and a glider to the face.

  • did i see the dynam sonic 185 taking the picture? :P

  • You two have the best life ever!! Dave I like the wing flex you your Sky Soar, Jeff I hope you didn't break a wind when you came down. I just got this same plane, had to get new wings from NP, they came damaged, but thanks for a great company! They're replacing them right away... Very nice videos Dave, keep 'em coming... HSF.

  • My God, that is one tough glider to withstand those winds. Fantastic flying guys, really enjoyed the video. Mr BlueAngel11

  • nice soaring guys very cool and windy, kinda like hovering

  • nice 1. i love to fly in the wind, with my wild hawk, can hover better with it than my heli.

  • awsome stuff. since I seen the last glider vid and Jeff with his dynam sonic 185 in high winds that has pushed me to try around here knowing the plane will handle it.Lots of fun and found it rather dificult for a rookie. lol. Waiting for parts now but had a blast trying.... cheers to you and yours and fly hard and fly long!

  • Hi Dave, could you show how to use a swash leveling tool?

  • Will you be stiffening the wings?do a video !!

    great close maneuvering

  • That looks hard has hell to do! Great video as always.

  • Who gave this a thumbs down!?!

    Takes all kinds...

  • I'm liking the tune in the background. what is it?

  • By the way Dave, a belated Memorial Day Thanks for all your service to our country!

  • Nice flexability in the wings Dave. I used to do a lot of ridge soaring out here at the beach (CA) and lots of drafting with a "High Start" at the Rose Bowl. Lots of fun. I still have an un built ridge plane. You've given me the boost I need to finish it. (It's been on the shelf for 25 years! Thanks!

  • Looks like a lot of fluttering going on with the wings !

  • Fun Video!!!!!

  • Wow Dave, I have to say, wings on your soarer were flexing so much, I thought it's gonna end up without them :)

  • great video, i wish my "soaring" in high winds went as good as yours. that poor hawk sky never had a chance, lol. but i have some new electronics for one the scratch builds i've been playing with

  • Wow...nice flying Dave & Jeff:)

I've only flown with winds like that in RealFlight G5.5!

  • AH A FELLOW IOWEEGON. LOOKS LIKE THE IOWA WEATHER IS DOING ITS BEST HAHA

  • Those are TD gliders. Got any hotliners?

First NightFlyer vid I watched was the same site with a FireBird Phantom!

Another ship to fly at F3F sites is an EDF jet with no landing gear. Good penetration.

  • uh so do you listen to lady gaga?

  • Hey MR. H! Have you ever used windfinder? It is a great website that mostly tailors itself to windsurfers and sailors but their wind forecasting is usually spot on and is how I plan my flying week. They also have a windows/sidebar gadget that makes it very easy to see when the best flying times will match my work schedule. Check it out!

  • look at the wing flex.. wow

  • ha never seen wings flexing like that lol! good stuff

  • I was waiting for your glider to break in half! That wing flex was intense.

  • I liked when ya flew the hobby zone phantom v tail years back. At one point didnt it have like three wings.lol. J..

  • Looked like a fun day with the gliders.

  • I thought the wings were gonna fold up a few times there!!!!

  • I know to much aobut windy days here in Iowa. It seems like every day its windy in des moines

  • born this way instrumental dont sound too bad. thought i would see some hovering

  • @dfarmercse To prevent having to walk way down the hill in the back, I had to use the motor occasionally to keep the plane on the face of the hill and land. It was exhilarating to say the least, as the air was being sucked out of our noses at the same time. LOL

  • Imagine what that wind would do to a Cessna 150 or Cherokee !!!!!

  • @WildBobsRC What?

  • Dave, Do you get nervous when the wings flex like that? Nice flying and lesson.

  • @raykiii I did at first, but they never broke! I am not comfortable with it for sure. Thanks.

  • @NightFlyyer No! Thank you! You're videos are very informative, I always learn something. I'm going to make a Raven next using some of your tips and then a glasses cam. Thanks for all the posts! PS Is there more than one web site that shows your videos?

  • nice job, sure was windy where you were ! lol Lots of fun though.

  • Great flying on Memorial Day, Dave and Jeff. I am always a fan of both of you and you seem like great flying buddies since time immemorial (no pun intended). What's your story?

  • @dietcoke1996 I made a video on the Stormlauncher and it turned out Jeff had one. He was looking for videos on it, and found me, living here in the same town. At the time I had been here only 1 year, moving from San Juan Capistrano, Ca. and we began flying and having fun since.

  • That was awesome, Dave!

I never knew such a thing was possible (I don't have any RC machines). This reminds me of the crows that hover near the top of the Cajon Pass in SoCal. 4000' might not be the greatest height, but it aint bad for 60 miles from the ocean.

  • That looks like a blast! Nice video as always Mr. Herbert.

  • Our gliding site here in Utah is over 5000 feet. Heck I live at 4300 feet. :)

  • @UtRadioGuy Yep, I miss the Coast soaring for sure, as I used to fly at Shore Cliffs in Dana Point, Ca when I lived there.

  • wow, that looks like its really exciting! also great flying! someday, i wanna do some RC slope soaring.

  • Nice flying Dave and Jeff, the gliders wings sure did have allot of flex in them with the Windy conditions

  • nice flying, man those wings really flex in the gusts don't it .....like a bird flapping it's wings

  • Hi Mr. Herbert! I have been watching and enjoying your videos for almost a year now and I recently purchased Phoenix flight simulator. I was wondering if there was some sort of way that we could fly using the online function together. Feel free to send me an email about that. thanks!

ps: my phoenix username is RCLOL

  • @desidudes78 Thanks for the offer, but I only fly my Aerofly 5.5 now as do many of my friends, so I don't foresee me reinstalling it on my machine. Thanks again and happy flying.

  • Great soaring Dave and Jeff. That was fun to watch.

  • Great vid, Dave!! ...looked like a ball!! Semper Fi, Leatherneck!

  • @TheLipRipp3r Thanks kindly and Semper Fi back at you.

  • Great video Dave and Jeff! just check out the wings flexing in the wind!!!

  • How were you holding the camera while flying?

  • @flamingosunlimited hat cam

  • you have a truly amazing life dave, keep living the dream !

  • I found it impossible to fly today with 15mph wind, you guys are tops in the air!

  • @locouk Thanks. It was work for sure.

  • very nice flying, looks like a great way to hone skills!

  • Reminds me of the Kraft radio and the brick in the Hobie Hawk..Flying just

south of El Toro off I 5 At Oso Pkwy just south of the fwy on top of the hills.

Super ocean afternoon breezes. Not quite as bad as what you have there

    Dave...... Good stuff......

  • @slvmnr I can still put my hands on my original Hobie Hawk. I even have the box. I used to sit at Shore Cliffs in Dana Point for hours flying it and many others. I do miss that, having lived in SJC for over 45 years. But here we have to prove ourselves it seems, so it is all about extreme weather. It is good practice for sure.

  • Great video sir! It looks like a very challenging way to fly. At the mercy of the wind!

  • great video

  • man that's a looot of wing flex. Kinda surprised they didn't snap

  • @ddrlankyj Me TOO!

  • Do you have Phoenix rc flight simulator?

  • @Caleb230CH Yes, he does have that sim....

  • @elmardus ok

  • I'm a huge fan of gliding. There is no better way to enjoy a windy day than with a good glider. Your wing flex almost makes your glider look like a bird flapping its wings....

  • @777muzzy Haha. Thanks. It sure was flapping alright but in this wind, it was not watching grass grow for sure. It was work, but fun work you know.

  • Is it me or is the main wing flopping like crazy? Is this normal for all gliders or just this one?

  • @freemarlochip Not You. B52s and B36s had big wing flex, but not like this flapping away. It is not normal, and a stiffer wing makes for a much better flier.

  • lol some serious wing flexing going on there, great job you guys

  • WOW great job very intense flying.

  • the sky soar looks like a bird flapping its wings

  • Good thing you didn't go on a windy day!

  • @JaffaCakesFTW Haha. I am smiling big now. Thanks.

  • wow look at those wings flex like that!

  • hey did you youse the motor?

  • Comment removed

  • @HostileHST We hardly used the motors at all and you can see that as my planes prop is mostly just windmilling. When soaring the point is to see how long you can fly with no motor. It is a test to see how well you can fly the currents. I can slope soar just about any plane I want up here in these winds. It is just a matter of learning how to do it and fully understanding the flight of the plane.

  • Comment removed

  • @HostileHST Google 'dynamic slope soaring' and check out the vids. Over 300 miles an hour, with no motor!

  • @8alakai8 you really didn't spell use as "youse" did you?

  • @8alakai8 Once in a while when I had to land or got too far behind the lift.

  • @NightFlyyer

This is what seagulls do and look like

  • wow flexxxxxxxxx
