  • Banjo Ben, thanks for your help! You're the man!

  • i love your videos, their a great learning tool. i watch then all the time and learn something new each time..

  • what is that brown thing in the top of the soundhole?

  • You should certainly tab out what you were doing at 8:07. I'd love to learn that. I'm new to all of this, and your videos are the first I'm tabbing. I'm trying to get used to using these types of scales in songs and if you tabbed that out, that would be fantastic. Thanks so much for the awesome lessons man. Keep up the good work!

  • Banjo Ben is the Man! keep the lessons flowing brotha!

  • awsome

  • lovin' these lessons bro! I think you're an awesome teacher & I've learned alot so far. Please don't be uncool & start hitting me up for paypal or some lameness like that.

  • banjo ben your the man!!!!

  • Thank you Banjo Ben. This helps me a lot--especially since I can't find someone who teaches Bluegrass in China.

    Ontario CAnada

  • You can also prolong the first original lick by reversing the two g notes but only play the open g once.

  • well done Ben, thanks for sharing, Barclay

  • wow that was amazing

  • good one Ben, mixing this stuff in with my blues playing..... kind of ...thanks mate

  • I agree Ben. Thanks for the licks they are the best! But I also would like to see some tabs as well!

  • Ben, great instruction. One question, could you please do a video on "Decision at Glady Fork"? I love that song.

You and your sisters are fantastic also. Keep it coming.

  • Good instruction and a good guitar lick. Thanks for slowing it down and actually teaching it. I don't mind the guitar, you got the message across.

  • you have got to start goin slower man

  • Great teacher..try a BR 160 from Blueridge

  • Awesome stuff as usual Banjo Ben! You are the absolute best guitar teacher I have ever seen on youtube or anywhere else. Thanks for teaching me and many others so much about the bluegrass guitar, it is greatly appreciated!

  • agreed. nice guitar but a d-28 or a j-40 would be better

  • Very nice licks, executed quite nicely. Clear instructions, thanks very much. The guitar needs to go, however; it just doesn't make it for sound, even on this great Bose/Mac system. Try a D-28.

  • Your amazing! and thank you so much!!

No one knows how to teach bluegrass here in Israel..

    Keep up the good work!

  • thanks for this Ben

  • Hi Banjo Ben.

I am going to ride my MC through some of the Appalachians. Any spots up there with good music gatherings? We are going through NAshville heading east in September.

  • Galax, Virginia host the Old Fiddlers Convention every 1st week in august.

  • Thanks, anything in Sept?

  • How cool is it that all these people from around the world are learning bluegrass from a guy in tennesee. I LOVE youtube.

    Max - Dubai

  • It still amazes me all the time! Pretty crazy, huh? Thanks for watching!!!

  • Hey BanjoBen,

Iam planning a trip to Nashville in Sep. Any suggestions as to where to stay and where to go for food, and music?

  • You HAVE to go to Robert's Western World on Broadway. They generally have the BEST country bands and the hamburgers are second to none.

  • lol my dad used to play at roberts, and was roomates with 2 of the guys from BR5-49

  • Thank you for your time and effort! I've leaned so much from you! You Rock Bro..

  • Agree Tony Rice IS AWESOME, I just started bluegrassin ! TY learning all you showing and enjoying cool playing! I hope enough before this summerfest!

  • I just cannot say enough for the help you have given to want-a-be bluegrass pickers, especially the young kids who love our music. Thanks So Much for taking the time.

  • Thanks Ben. I'd like to echo all the other thanks and comments on here. I've been playing for a long time but am very rusty (I never really became a confident soloist). I just joined a new bluegrass band a few weeks ago. My flat top skills are real rusty and you've really helped me get back into things and also showed me some really practical things to do while soloing. Thanks so much! (Not sure if you know but there's a real vibrant bluegrass community in the Czech Republic)

  • You do a really nice job of explaining!!

  • OK I now officially give up, I'll never be a fast picker. Great lessons though, mate, and I love that Bryan Sutton lick. I shall be practising for the next 13 years until I get it to somewhere near half speed...

    Jonny from West Sussex, UK

  • I have been playing almost 7 years and without being able to afford lessons I never picked up these types of licks. I really appreciate you sharing this knowledge for all to enjoy Ben. Being a somewhat experienced picker I am catching onto these very fast. Thanks again brother

  • Who are you playing for in Nashville ? Are you with a group, or doing recording work ? just curious.

  • I'm currently playing for Taylor Swift, but I'm also doing some studio stuff on the side.

  • @BanjoBen1 don't take this wrong but does that mean you're the only talent in the band?

  • @guccitothemax When I'm the only person in my band, I'm by default the best. It's the only time I can enjoy that title :)

  • Really great stuff. Any plans on doing similar installments for D & C (aside from the Bag o' Licks, that is)?

  • Your the best...thanks again man.

  • You rock man!! Thanks for taking the time to share your gift and helping players learn some great licks.

  • I really enjoy your lessons and you explain everything really well. How about a lesson on the tune Decision At Glady Fork that you play at the end? That's an excellent tune that is at the top of my list to learn. Thanks!

  • I just noticed you have another video with the the tune Decision At Glady Fork. I feel like a dummy now. :)

  • Its perfect; but I cant comprehend, how you can play it so fast. Beginner from Bohemia.

  • thanks from Slovakia
