Instead of the code messages NASA and ESA are currently broadcasting into space, why don't they send this? -"Hey, Gorboth, listen to this! These Earth people must be pretty cool and laid back. Let's go check it out!"
I first heard this back in '84 and it's still my favorite song OF ALL TIME.
I never, ever tire of this. Metheny and Mays - pure genious! Imagine what it must be like to be in the ensemble, either lending your voice or playing an instrument!! What top flight musicians, playing together with all the finesse of a lamborghini! .
I remember being there that evening. It was a beautiful warm evening and Pat's music reverberated all throughout the downtown core. We all stood there mesmerized. It was a truly Montreal moment. Thanks for the memories!
This is without a doubt my favorite Pat Metheny tunes. I really love this. It makes everyone feel so good. And I love seeing Pat in short shorts....or did we call them
'hot pants' back then.......this looks like downtown (Horton Plaza???) San Diego, Ca. Where was this filmed????

Magic! Reliving this moment once more. I was there that night and it is still one of the greatest instance of my life. This song has been part of my life for nearly 30 years and will never stop amazing me. My guts hurts so much each time I'm done listening to this piece just because I scream each note from inside, as if I had no voice. If you'd tell me that I only had a week to live, I would put this song on loop and I die in piece. I would actually like that.
Unlike most jazz musicians, who just put together disjointed pieces of dorian and mixolidian scales, Pat Metheny's solos are evolving stories. The solo on this song is so intense and clean that one might even not notice that he forgot to put trousers on!
I was at this concert on the 2nd date with the woman who is now my wife. It was a fantastic evening and one of the reviews estimated the crowd to be 120,000 people. It was a classic Montreal night with an incredible, free concert. We were sitting in folding chairs with a bottle of wine near the intersection of McGill College and de Maisonneuve...priceless.
Yeah. The shorts. Demonstrates why costume design is important. My brother created a video for advertisement and all people could talk about was his Birkenstock sandals and goofy socks.
Thank you Pat! Thank you Montreal! That was truly a magical evening and the people of Montreal are so sophisticated and plugged in that evening it was surreal.
I will never forget that moment when Montreal and music clicked yet again and the city and the music for a few minutes were in perfect synch. Visit Montreal!

Is Lyle catching a mosquito or something 0:05 - 0:06 ?
Beautiful Music, and nice to see how Mays still had the old Oberheim 4-voice (designed 1970) in a prominent position, and still used it. (I think he actually used it on stage even in 91 or 92!)
I'm just so completely concerned about his shorts. Who the hell cares about the music? I'm much more focused on the profound item here... the white shorts that should never have been...
