I have PHX3 and I updated it and everything, but I still don't have the same items in 'misc' as him. anyone know why?

@mr0imbord Very old video. This is an old PHX pack, likely one of the first versions. I think a lot of the PHX models are still there although I believe they are differently organised.

Turns out I have the bars, just not in the misc folder. I had to browse for them, but it was strange because it was labeled as misc. Oh well, just glad I have them.

nice and basic, but i got a few tips to help you alot, it has helped me alot:

shift+e while rotating a prop makes it snap in 45 degrees to world

easy precision (i know that it wasnt existant when this vid was made just mentioning it) is a great tool and it matches perfectly with smartsnap..

what do you use to align your objects so perfect? i mean, (hard to tell) let's say you have an body for an car, and you place a bar ontop of it, and it's the same degree as the body. Hope you understand what i'm trying to ask :p

When you hold E to rotate objects you can also hold shift to make objects align at 45 degree angles :). It makes thing a whole lot easier lol.

I'm pretty sure its 45? 8 smart align orientations on one axis... 360 degrees divided by 8 = 45 degrees. Unless my memory's blown to hell, which is pretty fucking likely if I'm honest.

Got a question. So, I made a small hover car, it has 4 hoverballs and thrusters, I can go forward, reverse, up, down, and turn with the thrusters on the sides.

After Im all done with the car and I unfreeze it, (the car's parts are all welded appropriately) the car turns into a jumbling tornado and completely glitches out, or is just totally flimsy.

How do I get my welds to stay snug and not wobble?

Well without knowing exactly what it looks like its hard to say. One tip is to increase the weight of the main supporting prop of the vehicle. Heavy things attached to light things have a weld made of jelly sometimes...

Go to garrysmod org website and look for the weight s-tool and have a play around.

actually what i found easier is use the tool

"Weld Easy"

and when you aim at a prop a grid usually circles the prop. if you aim at one of the Grid x's and press shift + E then it snaps onto the nearest x on the grid. an amazing little gadget not sure if u knew it or not but yeh try that it makes things sooo much easier

That grid you're seeing is actually from SmartSnap or AutoSnap.

you will have to check to see if your computer meets the required specs. If it does and it still doesn't work then you can check the steam tech support forums for help

Instead of using ballsockets you can also use axis tool.

Left click the beam that needs an axis and rightclick the center of the long beam. That will make the medium beam move around the large beam. It's a little gmod trick most people don't know because the tool does not say it can do that.

Because it's a pirated version you need hl2. If you buy gmod 10 you do not need hl2.

pressing E on a wheel will make it rotate in the opposite direction. I often prefer to use thrusters to push vechs along tho, i cant get on with the torque settings. :)

Tip: You shouldn't (sry my english is bad) weld something 2 times cuz if u weld oone time it's welded the entire object not only the point u wnted

Your absolutely correct, however i feel nothing is wrong with welding something twice if only so that its definately welded.

What I will often do it weld one object to many different things that are also welded. On smaller projects I try and weld every static proper to every other static prop for extra stability. On larger ones i have a central frams that everything is welded to.

I'm not sure what white models you mean, but almost all the props I used in this video were from phonix storms model pack (look at garrysmod,org).

I"m pretty new at GMod and I was wondering, I got the PHX final 1&2 and I don't know where to extract it to, will someone tell me.

Just copy the contents of the zips (it will be two folders called addons containing a folder called phx)into your garrys mod directory.

for example, my garrys mod root directory is

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\whiterz\­garrysmod\garrysmod

It will most likely ask you once or twice if you want to over write files that already exist. Just select "yes to all", you shouldn't be harming anything.

Your using a legit version of garrys mod 10 with a proper steam account, right?

Just correct me if im wrong, but you are trying to install PHX Premium Final (the models/prop pack) into your garry's mod 10? Just making sure if we arnt crossing wires here...

The GCF does contain models and wads and various things that mappers/modelers use, but in order to install PHX you dont inserting any of the data into it. At least ive never heard of it been installed in that way...

The GCF file isnt easily acessible anymore. Its locked away inside the steam folders. If you think that your missing it they im fairly sure you arnt, the file and accociated data just arnt stored in the same fashion as they once were (pre steam i think).
