@Fluffypopcicle an arrangement of the Minuet was used in "Sid Meier's Pirates!" back in 2004. It was used as a dance to woo the governor's daughter. :)
Fantastic piece of art. Please everyone, play this to uneducated, ignorant assholes who think of Germans as Nazis etc. The Nazi-era were only 12 years of SAD history of a nation that's been around for over a thousand years...I wouldn't write this ,if it weren't for all this shit like 'Oh, you're German-you like Hitler? -Excuse me...................?????????
@einhundzweihund Absolutely, Germany has a very rich culture, both german literature and music are among the greatest achievements in world history. That tragical 12-year spell of madness and darkness cannot alter that fact.
I love this piece! The minuet part makes me think of strolling through woods on an autumn morning for some reason and the badinerie makes me think of animals or nymphs frolicking playfully about, like in Greek myth?
whats funny is that every time someone samples classical music i like it, then i find the original... and like it more. oh well at least it's exposure right?
I can't understand how people forgot about Bach, Vivaldi, Liszt, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and so many other artists... How could Lady Gaga and... Justin Beaver replace them? HOW ON EARTH IS THIS POSSIBLE!
the children that were dropped on their heads started making music and became famous, and once the great generation that created this music all passed away, the music the retarded babies made started growing in power.
@MusicFreak7895 What nonsense is this. You can't compare classical music and popmusic, it's silly. And Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are poor examples where popmusic is concerned, that's really cheap. I'm lucky, I like both: classical and pop/rock.
Zeitgeist: J.S.Bach's Werke waren nach dessen Tod in Vergessenehit geraten. Erst Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy brachte sie durch sein Schaffen wieder zu Geltung.
This is the best version of Badinerie I've ever heard, the other ones are played too quickly, why? it's the players wanted to go to the bathroom, Bach's music it's about let it flow, no need to hurry at all
Hoffman says it's important to remember that -- unlike the classic portrait showing Bach as "bewigged, bejowled, stout and stolid" old man -- the composer was once "a handsome, dashing guy." Much of Bach's best-loved music, including the Brandenburg Concertos and the pieces for solo violin and cello "were written when he was a young man in his 30s," Hoffman tells Edwards.
Hoffman makes that point in the following essay, appropriately titled "Johann Sebastian Bach Was Handsome Once":
well see, there's a problem with that...at the time they didn't have radios or anything like that and his music was probably studied but not played as frequently as it is...
beautiful as always heavenly touched J.S.Bach with this famous orchestral suite no.2 the best known of the 4 he composed, with the world known Badinerie, a brief but extremely difficult page to play, a flautist almost makes his grade if he plays this piece as it should be played, here is outstanding

Tempo is way too slow for a menuet.
People need to listen only the excellence in performances to truly appreciate classical music, especially baroque pieces.
Try listening to Academy of St Martin in the Fields performances, especially when conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. Perfection.
