actually it dont work with any kind of object, u need to identfy a small sticker-tag then paste it behind the cellphone for example. When u put the cellphone on the table it identify the tag and show the data attached for that tag.

In order it identify a cellphone, cellphone firm (nokia, apple, ericson etc..) have to put permanent tags behind the cellphones which wont happen in a near future
