I graduated from the class of '81. Thank you so much for bringing back GREAT memories. I am glad to see the band has continued to grow and represent our traditions throughout the world!
Does anyone have any videos of the marching band from 1977 to 1981 at the Rose Parade or the Anaheim stadium?
WOW! I never thought I would have the pleasure of reliving the proud moments of that beautiful show! I graduated from LAHS in 1980 and always loved going to the football games, especially for the halftime shows! Thank you bandmembers for such a great show. I must have watched this 10 times tonight! How can I get a copy?
Did ever go to the after football game parties up on Lone Star St. In Avocado Heights to hear a band call "Der Heil Freep"? Well, I was the drummer for the band as well as for the Los Altos drum-line and it was a blast. Remamber me, Mark Villa I have a sister named Bambi. Los Altos Rules, baby!!
@Rollembaby Hey r... i know it's quite some time since you posted this. Yeah I remember "der Heil Freep"they were awesome and the singer was even better....why? because i was the singer however i don't remember our drummer being in band at los altos unless of course it was johnny pink but then that would not have been der heil freep instead no surprize...any how this is rob (the Singer)
@MrRaguirrejr, I was the original drummer for the band. Rudy Rios came up with name. I left in the summer of '79. Some back up dude from Pioneer High took my place. We played a lot of parties in the "Heights". The band started in '78
@Rollembaby Yeah I know...i was the singer, you'd remember that. Rudy went by the Name of BO rios...i went by the name Rob Guiry Roman who was the bass player went by the name The Romancer, the back up dude was an italian cat named of Russle. But you.... unless i have a name I don't remember. oh and by the way Bos dad was named Rudy who along with my dad Ruben were the managers. Bo has a crazy brother who was a DJ named bobby who is still as crazy as ever...but again you...i don't remember.
I was there...The 1979-80 years we were UNDEFEATED!!! The Great Western Band Review (Long Beach) street show was taken by Arcadia in '80...but LAHS swept every tournament show those years, including the Tournament of Champions. 1981 grad. I would like to obtain the DVD copy myself
One of the truly great bands of the 70's to the 80's. LAHS was truly at it's pinnacle under Danny Wagner years. Sure there were other greats like Poway, Redlands, John North, Loara, Santa Monica, Mater Dei, Locke, and Carson in the 70's and 80's. However, Los Altos seemed to get everyone in the stands going with that fanfare. Sure the simplistic symmetrical drill looks dated by todays marching standards, but this is really an example of California's great marching band past.
Oh thank you thank you to whomever posted this! I was part of that band, and have many pleasant memories of the wins. :) Not so much of Wagner, who disliked me intensely, but I respected him as director.
If any of my bandmates are reading... I was the shortest one in the band, playing piccolo.
O' Danny didn't care for me much eather. It's Mark Villa and my sister Bambi played sax in '79. I remember when we went down to San Diego to compete when Mr. Wagner pulled me and Jeff Delray off the bus after breakfast at Sir Georges and accused us of smoking weed. Man, lucky for me I had some tic-tacs on me and got off by blowing in his face and saying "How dare you say that I smoked weed,I don't even smoke cigarettes" Everyone was saying that I could have won the Academy Award for that one.
wow.... look at lahseu now... need much much more improvement? :)

The fanfare we dreaded because it was so dang good and it meant our rivals had taken the field!
