Indeed Bostic was giant on alto sax and impacted Coltrane's knowledge base early on...another major influence and actual creator of the tenor style or approach to bebop on tenor would be Dexter Gordon, he influenced Coltrane and every other post world war two tenor player playing bebop...I grew up listening to Bostic and Louis Jordan on old 78's my best friends dad had stashed down in the basement..it great to see Bostic remembered here.
At the time, I believe he was on Syd Nathan's King label for US release, but Parlophone may have been their British outlet.
