Also one more good thing about your videos, it's that you are quick in explaining, so your videos aren't boring like other chess videos posted on youtube. In the mean time you hardley miss any significant points in your analysis. Well done man!
SeanGGodley, I've benefited alot from your videos. Really come in handy during blitz games in our local club tournaments.
Out of 6 times I applied three of the traps I learned from you, 3 wins, one draw because I was losing on time and 2 games I lost because the opening didn't go as posted on the video. But I gotta say thanks!
By far the best video on sicilian traps. Im still learning, and know of these traps in a light sense, but a video like this showing different posibilities back to back is excellent. Thank you.
Excellent video Sean, but i've run the position at 2:41 through a computer and there is no forced mate in 6, the position results in massive material loss for black however. There is a mate in 6 if black plays inaccurately. I love your videos on traps as they go into far more detail than others on youtube. Keep up the good work!
all these traps are good and all, but it is assumed that the opponent will play the correct moves that will allow you to execute the traps. thw problem is, what if the opponent doesn't play the correct moves?
It always pisses me off when im playinng against my brother or friend and they don't play the moves i want them to. it just fucks me over and makes me look stupid, argh!
Sean, what a great trap! Thanks for sharing! :) Question: At 1:32, you say 8. ... Ng4 is fine for black. But if white plays 9. e6 how does black respond? The best I could see is 9. ... Nf6 10. exf7+ Kd7 11. Qe2 with what seems like a nice advantage for white.
I think you mean d7 - the point is that If black does nothing to defend, for example if he plays h6, then it is mate in six with Qxf7+ Kd7 Qe6+ etc. glad you liked the trap!
Hi do you mind writing down this entire mate in 6 at this point because it doesn't seem like a forcing line. I see some dangerous positions possible significant material loss but I don't see a forced mate
@Kombatkill That's the queen moving across the board. When the pieces are first set up, the queens are on the same column (d), and the kings are on the same column (e).
In the minuto 2:42 theres no mate if Qxf7+ then Kd7 and he runs away, you can still get that tower on a8 but theres no mate. Of course black would be lost so is a good trap.

MrSoccerfan83 4 months ago

i would think that
Bc6 Bd7
Bxd7 Qxd7
Qxa8 Qd8
Qxd8 Kxd8
is better than taking the immediate rook
White is still up, more material is gone and black can't castle

@BillG37 I always confuse the king and queen for some reason otherwise, I'm okay at chess.
