The best thing about this album is the keys. This line up as a whole is great too, so one could only hope they return for another album but with more room to breathe. C'mon Satch let your boys shine!

If you took away all the stellar sound production and Satriani's name... you'd be left with a very generic sounding album in my opinion. Satriani just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

@otterrichard Well your ear is probably just looking for variety. Stop by Steve Vai's website and buy an album maybe two. When you're done, stop by dream theatre's website, and John Petrucci's as well. Buy octavarium, Black Clouds + Silver Linings,

a Change of Seasons, and panic attack. then buy Petrucci's solo album.

@ShadowLancer128 Actually I'm very familiar with all of those, but my real qualm is that I feel like Joe is playing way under par for his talent on this album. He just plays it too safe for my taste. Though I did enjoy "God is Crying."

@otterrichard OOHHH I know what you mean. Joe does that with all of his albums ion order to leave room for fill sections on the LIVE DVD. It's not about playing it safe, he's just restraining from sounding like the last album, and leaving room for more solo work in his live DVD.

@anandthepianoguy well when i listened to the whole album in the listening party, I had heard several licks that go back to the best parts of his catalog. Alot of his work goes back to melodious solo sections of the Prof. Album, as well as Is there love in Space. Premonition goes back to lights of heaven, or so it seems to me. Light Years away goes to Up in Flames. Dream song goes to Flying in a Blue Dream. God is Crying reminds me of Summer Song.

I think I just listen to too much Satriani.

@ShadowLancer128 I didnt think it was in any way like the Prof. album. Two sides to every story and Golden room are ground-breakingly original (comparatively to what you are saying). Solitude is like Seven String but much simpler.

I went on the Joe website a few days ago and found out that he was making a new album. Being the incredible fan that I am, I immediately went to Youtube to see if anybody had an illegal copy of it yet :). I stumbled on this video and was like ,"mkay," and started watching. The first half of the excerpt had a nice groove and some tasteful licks (standard Joe), but it was missing Something. i was about to turn it off, but then the chorus started...

This album is going to be something special.
