  • Great movie, couldn't agree more about pandering to the PG13 rating.

  • I practically grew up with R-rated 70s and 80s movies. It's really sad for me that nowadays, just about everything gets diluted and trimmed down to cater to children. Hell, I think most kids can take a lot of the R-rated material (not saying they SHOULD be watching in the first place what's targeted at adults) and not be "corrupted" or whatever the crap these Moral Guardians keep shoving at decent horror and action films.

  • Nice review. I watched the director's cut when I was around 5yrs old (I was born '87) - it's definitely in my top 10 favourite films of all time.

  • this was actually filmed in dallas. my dad actually works with the people who worked on robocop. mostly grip and gaffers but STILL. im actually kinda mad the robocop statue is being made in detrouit and not dallas

  • SWAGshow- Review for 'Robocop 3'???

  • Robocop 3 never happened, or as fans would like to pretend. lol

  • SWAGshow- Why do you say the news-casts are hilarious?; I've seen this movie so many times & I still can't tell any of the down-playing of events, or, whatever else you said about them.

  • i watched this film when i was 8 yrs old on vhs i was scared watching this movie but enjoyed the watch but i would never let my children watch this level of movie till they ar at least15

  • i agree with everything you said this is what the movie industry r doing today ££££ no class no direction

  • 6:10.; How'd you know what time-code to fast forward to, SWAGshow?

  • SWAGshow- What was it that you were saying about the commercials/advertisements & the news-casts that they show during the film, again?

  • "BIG BUDGET"? - Robocop was definitely low budget

  • @konman001

    Low-budget, or, not, it's still a cool film.; I wasn't born until 1989 & I still find this to be a kick-ass 1987 movie.

  • I haven't watched the documentary in a while, I think the film had a decent size budget - but they spent a lot of money on the robo suit. They had intended to use blue screen and such before they started to run low on money so had to do stop motion and matte paintings.

Again, I haven't watched the documentary in a while so could be wrong.

  • I just can't be fucked to watch films anymore because there aren't any films that are made for adults. And that SUCKS. Film companies can kiss my ass.

  • Nice Review but maybe you should review the film more and talk less about the plot.

  • I'm as disappointed as you are about RoboCop 2 and 3, I love robocop 1, amazing review

  • Nancy Allen was incredibly hot back then

  • One of the best 80's films, it has more pop culture satire than a lot of movies today. But it's very serious

  • SWAGshow- How did you know what time-code to fast-forward to if you didn't wanna hear any of the spoilers?

  • "Don't touch me, Man!...".; Lol.: :) .

  • Awesome review, Robocop is one of my favorites, most people see it as just a violent action film but I think theres really a lot more depth and satire than people give it credit for. Whats your opinion on your future of the franchise? Should they reboot it? sequels? just let it rest or what?

  • You know a guy's a jackass when their name is Dick

  • Toys was made to tie in The animated Robocop series.

  • I LOVE ROBOCOP! such a great movie, i liked Ed to (woo epic robot fights)

i want to see the movie again now! great review

  • I do agree with the rating. If it should be R then have it R. But if it doesn't need to be R then ok trim it down but when it supposed to be R then keep it R.

  • The 80's were so good, too bad nowadays hollywood jews keep reusing the ideas from the past because "retro is cool nowadays".

And because they love money and don't want to risk their money by making an original movie.

  • You sound like a hundred guys I heard before, but every point you make is a clear and true one. Great review, 5 stars.

  • They are remaking this classic ... and i guess it will be PG-13 .... fck ....

  • SWAGshow- What'd you mean by saying about 'Robocop' "It might look a little dated, by today's standards."?

  • Well...laggy stop motion, obvious makeup effects and stereotype gang characters...and there's no real CG.

Now, I myself actually PREFER these kind of effects, but I do think most people who never saw this movie WOULD point and laugh at this, at first at least.

  • HarpoTheVillain- Would you midn re-explaining your response to me, again, please.

  • No problem.

The way I see it, I think he means people would consider this movie old and dated because of the special effect, and the general story of a super cop that is a cyborg.

Even if I myself prefer this old-fashioned movie-making, a lot of people would probably not like it.

  • @HarpoTheVillain this film is god, stop motion effects are god, obvious makeup effects are god, no CGI-blow the thing up for real effects are god, stereotype gang characters are god

    dont argue about god....

but if god is anything other than 80s action movies, then fuck him

  • @jagdevsg I'm not arguing, though. The special effects are GREAT. And I absolutely LOVE THEM.

But, I think we can both agree that a lot of people would disapprove of them. Because that's how people are today. If it ain't Avatar, it blows. Right?

  • @HarpoTheVillain lol, yeah, i was actually agreeing with you in my own abstract way!

yeah, people prefer the cgi...i dunno why...just seems that films (and games for that matter) allow less space for your own imagination nowadays... and i dont like that. every film needs to leave gaps that we can bridge in a way that appeals to us... just that little break from reality that makes it all magic

  • @jagdevsg I agree. And it don't really look...real. Murphy's face grafted onto RoboCop, now that looks real. A lot of CGI looks good, but only to an extent...make up and models, animatronix etc is where it's at.

I really agree...nowadays, movies are served on a silver plate.

  • 2:32/3:32.; Ouch!

  • I sooooo agree with you on everything! Robocop is not a kid movie, but what it is, is a wonderful movie for adults! Robocop is the ultimate bad ass cyborg and a classic that all film interested people should watch! Love your review man its totally killer!

  • Um the director did many other good movies besides the one's you mentioned.

  • X-Men (b)origins Wolverine was pg-13

Its a movie about guys with sharp ass claws, how can you make it pg-13.

  • Damn snot nosed kids!!!!!

  • Great review, SWAG, and I agree with you with the merchandising for kids for the film and then those kids find out that it's rated R. Imagine if they were advertising The Terminator for kids.

MAN, would that be a slap in the face!

  • @Sutidude They actually made Terminator toys.

  • Red dumbass foreman! lol

  • Sorry to say but you Actually have Actually diease its Actually anoing but still Actually good review no hard feelings

  • Brilliant, awesome movie, for a brilliant awesome movie. Loved robocop since I was a kid, and can hardly wait for the new one!!!!

  • This movie's sequels still play on some stations

  • i luv the scenes u like as well!!

  • 7:30 rigth here

  • I love Robocop I haven't seen it in a long time so I don't really remember much about it other then the Main plot.

I want to find the movies including Robocop 2 and 3, though Robocoop 3 is really bad

I remember nothing of Part 2 at all. I want to see it again.

  • Dude, nice job reviewing it. I was like hooked on. Also, you have an awesome voice for reviewing.

  • Please make a review for RoboCop 2

  • I know, I'm very overdue for the RoboCop 2 review. I'll try and get to it very soon.

  • Great Video. Great Movie. Cool to hear someone use nerf not referringto WoW. I am sure it's done all the time and i am sure it didn't start with WoW . But i don't hear it said much outside of wcradio and my guild vent. Good Day.

  • Dude, tell us more what you think of the movie than rehashing the plot.

  • word

  • Robocop owns.

  • LOBOLOP!!! :D

  • This was a review or a guy telling what happens on the film in 10 minutes?

The other reviews are way better than this one.

  • This was actually meant to preface the Day 29 video which is a review of Robocop for the NES. For people that hadn't seen this movie, I wanted them to know the backstory for the game review.

  • @SWAGshow - I think louis takes Robocop to the steel mill because they did not have enough money to afford another location. But. . .one could argue that the steel mill represents a place where his previous life ends & a great injustice is done to him, henceforth, it made a good location for Murphy to get his justice against the crooks.

  • The movie was set in Detroit but was filmed mostly if not all entirely in Dallas, Texas.

  • I honestly wouldn't call obocop science fiction. for me, it was always in league with the cyber-punk movies, there are so many cyberpunk themes like humanity inside of a machine in it, and all the science fiction themes were so down to earth that it doesn't really felt like normal science fiction. it was definitely more in league with phillip k. dick than with georde lucas (:D). other than that, a very good review. you could have said more about the satire subjects inside of it, though.

  • What about the satire in the movie though? also, review Pan's Labyrinth, if you have time. I watched it in Spanish and English, it sucked in both languages. I even did it in French. Needless to say, it sucked even worse when I had to rely on subtitles, versus Spanish or English. Crap dubbing in non-English languages as well.

  • Why are you such a good reviewer?!?!?

Even when you are tired/drunk, you give such a good impression of anime, movies and games.

It is a shame that you get so few views. Considering how other reviewers, who aren't as enjoyable get the 000s.

  • You should talk about the new Robocop 4 movie that is being planned.

  • Wow you gave a spoiler alert for a movie made in '87? That's dedication to your fans.

Another part of the franchise aimed at children were 2 Cartoon series and (in Japan) 2 tokusatu series. There was also a comic series by Marvel comics probably aimed at teenagers.

  • The comic was by Frank Miller and was the original script to Robocop 2; I'll cover that in my future review of it.

  • There are two comic series one from Marvel comics in 1990 which ran for 23 issues and one by Miller et, al in 2003 that ran for 9 issues. Have a look at this it has a list (in no particular order) of all Robocop comics ever.

I hadn't heard of any comics besides the 1990 series before your comment prompted me to have a look so thanks loads.

  • miller's original robocop 2 script included the robocop3 story in it, btw. i would go so far and say that there was more robocop 3 inside of miller's original script, than robocop two. but the original script wasn't even that good to begin with, so i don't really know if i should be angry about changing it so much. miller isn't really a good moviescript writer. the only script by him that i found decent was his script for "batman: year one" he made together with darren aronofsky.

  • robocop is one my all time fav movies.

  • I agree that too many movies are toned down to reach a younger audience. The best example I can think of is Live Free or Die Hard. I think it could've been better if it was rated R. I'm only 15 and I agree adults are getting ripped off when it comes to movies. I'll happily wait until I'm older to see an R-rated movie or I'll go with one of my brothers. But please, directors, stop trying to make movies more kid-friendly!!

  • Another perfect example, thank-you for pointing that out.

  • Awesome, get at it Swag, ive watched everyone of these vids, and cant wait till day 30! you rule, one of the best reviewers ive ever seen.never let haters get to you, either.

  • love the film reviews of classics like the crow and the batman series but arent films like scarface and blade runner just as derserving of some attention?

  • Sure, but for the most part I try to review movies that aren't quite as "timeless" or "classic." I like to try and stick with reviews of things that a lot of people may not know about today and can get forgotten in the shuffle. Plus, I tend to review movies that I personally like, to be quite honest I'm not a big fan of either Scarface or Blade Runner; I acknowledge their contribution to film but are not favorites of mine. They already pretty much get enough attention as it is.

  • a total classic, nice pick for the last movie review :)

  • Look at Alex Murphy, all skinny! no wonder he can fit just right on the suit...

    Nice Review!

  • Day 28: It would have been a good gimmick if you reviewed "28 days later". But Robocop is a good alternative, great movie and a great review.

  • Actually, that would sweeeet. Swag should review 30 days of night on day 30.

  • Good thing you brought up Starship Troopers. The news reports in RoboCop were almost like the war propaganda in Starship Troopers.

  • yeah 3 sucked

  • Gotta say I frickin' LOVED Robocop as a kid, the movie, the games, everything about it was kick ass. I even paid extra to get an ex-rental copy on VHS before it was officially released as I loved it so much.

Robocop 2 was great too, though I couldn't sleep the night I watched it kept dreaming about Kane and THAT brain removal scene, and used to shut my eyes until the guy who played the violin through his legs came on. Hilariously bad now.

  • Oh, interesting fact, Robocop's suit is based on the suits in Bubblegum Crisis. Compare them, they're VERY similar!!!

It was also based on Judge Dredd at one point also.

  • wow nick robocop theme went well with the 30 day reveiw thing you should use in you last 2 videos

  • There was also an Alvin and the Chipmunks version of Robo Cop. Not like a high speed vid of the movie with squeaky voices, but like a Chipmunks version of the movie. I havn't seen Robo Cop, but if you think it's too violent for kids, I find it hilarious the Chipmunks made a video for kids of thier take on the movie.

  • Why do they never shoot in the mouth?!

  • They make a joke of that in Robocop 2!!

  • hey, thats the dvd I've got, awsome movie, another one of my favs

  • first but awesome review as always better get drunk for the next one too
