I have test driven the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo, Alfa Romeo MiTo, VW Polo 77TSI and the Citroen DS3. I loved the MiTo, fantastic car ! But ended up with the VW because the MiTo was too small and buying a Skoda is saying I can't afford a VW and the Citroen is well...French and reliability is not great.

@skorob2010 That just shows how much you know about cars, your Skoda Octavia is a VW Jetta with a different bodyshell. The Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 has the same horsepower than the Superb with less displacement, it also is 4WD and new (in 2006, read it in a review by Autocar.) cost 28.500£ which is 1.500£ less than the Skoda Superb 3.6. Alfa Romeo has won European Car of the Year in 98 and 01, 2nd place in 2011 and third in 2006 with the 159, while Skodas aren't even on the list.

It competes with both, it's a four door car which (tries to) look like a coupe. Quality wise there is little difference, both are great. The Golf is a little more practical, but doesn't handle as sharp. The Giulietta is the Italian choice, which means you just get a bit more 'feeling' with your purchase.

Main difference though: You buy an Alfa Romeo with your hart and a Volkswagen with your mind.

Italian quality isnt the same now as it were in the 70's. Nowdays its the same or better (!) than a lot of other brands. Still, dealerships are not a cost to Chrysler, but to the individual businessmen who choose to build them.

I'm pretty sure an Alfa like this would be meant to compete with not only the Audi A3, but also the Ford Fiesta, which is relatively affordable.

All the mustangs are shit - someone needs to send some information about the importance of proper suspension to the Americans cause their current approach to building cars (with 1 or 2 notable exceptions such as the ZR-1) consists of nothing more than "duuuhhhhh I put da bigger engine in car and it go fast!"
