Great band of my teen years. I like much the way Demis Rossous sings. But over all there is the great Evangelos Papathanassiou because he's the music's maker. After the band was broken he wrote a lot of wonderful pieces of music and film's music like Blade runner, Alexander, Chariots of fire, Antartica, 666, L'apocalypse des animaux, mask and many others. When I was teen somebody says that he was not able to read music, that he was pure talented instinct. Great!!
Many thnx to whoever uploaded this video. I knew this song back in Iran, when my father used to listen to all these oldies. I have been longing to find this song, like for 12 years. Last night I just typed the lyrics and thnx to the person, who uploaded it and to the internet, I found it. What a great song and voice!
Wonderful cooments. Also..there is so much beauty in that music. I close my eyes and takes me back when I was a girl..in south america, in a very hot town where all I had I was a radio in a very old kitchen and some family.
We have really lost something precious to the human condition and most of us don't even know it. I wish we could find our way back but as long as melodrama is a bad word and mocked by this generation I'm afraid we won't.
Mamma mia che canzone straordinaria, quante lacrime versate in quegli anni tristi e felici allo stesso tempo, noi over 50...dovremmo ricordare le sensazioni incredibili che questa melodia ci dava e la voce di Demis.
Can anybody tell me one of there songs had the words "In a room just five feet eight I sit alone and wait" can't remember any more anybody out there any ideas.
Great group so much agree with most of the comments, listen to the so called music to day it's mostly ~@~@**8 say no more. Still brings lump to my throat.
peoniesfleur - I so agree with you. Altogether better but not for the Greeks they were under a military very right wing regime. The coup of 1967. Many people were tortured and disappeared. There was a notorious jail north off Athens. Beatles music was banned there in those days.
@peoniesfleur Ironicly, longing back to the past this way, you sound like the man who's the subject of this song (I also think it's a very beautiful song by the way).
Simply great song; I always love Demis's vocals. I also like how Vangelis is just rubbing the keys at the end and none of them are going down as he fakes the flourishes to the playback.
Aphrodite's Child was about Revelations and was no way satanic or occult in it's interpretations. It was religious and spiritual but everyone who didn't know better thought it was written by A.C. instead of the Bible.
The Rock-n-Roll industry is absolutely saturated with Satanism and the occult. Did you ever notice that Wiccan witches never expose Satanism, and Satanists never expose the New Age movement, and New Agers never expose the occult? The reason why is all too obvious, they're all working for the same boss--SATAN!
@drummersr BEETHOVEN..MOZART..NON AVREBBERO FATTO DI MEGLIO....EVANGELOS E ARTEMIOS NELLA LEGENDA...LEGEND..LEGENDE...OUI YES YA DA SI ..CIAO DRUMMERS..SOGNAMO INSIEME PERCHE' QUEST CANZONE L'HO BALLATA ALLORA CON DONA, LA DONNA CHE AMO DA 43 ANNI..BUONA GIORNAT
Wasn't the reason Aphrodite's Child never went big cos Vangelis was afraid of flying, so they couldn't tour to get exposure? Either way its a tragedy they didn't get the respect they deserve.
@mavsfan1000 It was! Just not in the English speaking world. 5 weeks at # 1 in Italy, 12 weeks in the top 10 in France, 9 weeks in Germany. The British pop scene in 1970 just wasn't ready for a Soprano Castrato, whereas the rest of the European record buying public didn't care, as long as it sounded romantic and the lyricds were English.
@Pluschap Well I guess I'm more surprised that they never play this song on the radio anymore. But I guess there were a lot of classics that got forgotten through the years.
