I agree...your mom wrote some awesome music for this show! I've seen it 4 or 5 times and I always lose it on this last song before intermission. I've seen both Brian and Ben do the role.  Ben has the better voice, I think, but both do a fantastic job. Having met Brian, I think he's a totally class act! Of course, I've known Ben since birth...he's my kid.

actually he is better. but not in this role. brian does more for this song in particular than ben. but trust me. i've seen him singing other songs not from shrek and ben is better.

i saw ben too and i like him over brian. based on seeing ben and listeining to brian on the cd, i think ben has the better interpertaion of who shrek is, altho brian has a better voice. and wait seesawsmyname. your mom is jaenine tesori?!?!?!

i dont like ben playing Shrek! he just doesnt sound the part.... iim wondering how the show's gonna do when Brian leaves and Ben takes over full time

Oh, really?  I prefer Ben to Brian. I actually saw Ben when I went to the show. I think he sounds the part more than Brian; I always imagined Shrek being a baritone:)

@JennFan24 Ben is most definately a Tenor, he hits those top notes with ease PLUS he was the standby for Jean Valjean on Broadway which definately requires a tenor range. Not sure about Brian though, thoughts?
