  • You say you love traditional marriage. That's absolutely fine - you can get a traditional marriage (if you don't have one already) and enjoy all the other traditional marriages you witness around you. But why not also allow gay people the right to marry. It would not affect your traditional marriage.

  • How do you show love and respect for everyone while denying them equal rights? I'm a woman married to a man and the gay marriages that have already taken place have in no way harmed my marriage. You can't respect all beliefs and deny gay marriage because many beliefs include gay marriage.

  • This is very sad. My life has nothing to do with yours. Nor does my marriage. I was thoroughly disappointed with the passage of Prop 8. We are living under the Christian Taliban. Land of the Free indeed! What a joke.

  • Just a few decades ago it was illegal. How do these people get to the point that they demand to get their left wing propaganda be put into a religious ceremony?

  • i just dont get why gay marriage is so bad, okay go with your religion, but thats your religion, not every ones.

  • Those who opposed Prop. 8 saw themselves opposing discrimination. This is false.

Those who opposed Prop. 8 stated that traditional marriage does not exist. This is false.

Those who opposed Prop. 8 wish to deny a father or a mother to a child. This is sadly true.

  • @JeremiahA40 You really feel that way about single parents? My aunt is a single mother of three. She won mother of the year in her town. All her daughters are college graduates. It was still really tough though to raise three girls. She obviously couldn't pay for all of their schooling. Now they have loans. Not to mention the fatigue from raising three girls. You know what could have helped? A second parent, regardless of gender.

  • I have 2 questions for those who say YES to Prop 8.

    1) Why do gay people not deserve to share the same institution as you? Did they do something that doesn't let them share "marriage" with you? Just because you want a "traditional marriage" doesn't mean it's right.

    2) If I (i'm not gay, but if i were) got married to someone of the same sex, what's it to you?

  • "Traditional marriage" according to whom? I notice that when people like you start talking about "traditional marriage," what you REALLY mean is "marriage as it has been specifically in the United States from the late 1960's through the late 1990's." I've got a news flash for you and anyone else opposed to homosexual marriage: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE!! It varies from culture to culture and from time period to time period.

  • if you had respect for gays and lesbians youd be against prop h8

  • saying you believe in respect for all and yes on prop h8 is like saying you have respect for black people and are pro slavery

  • Britney Spears' 36 hour long marriage = Traditional Marriage between a man and a woman

    Way to fail.

Ten years from now, people will look back and point and laugh at everyone who voted Yes on Prop 8. Kind of like the same way we point and laugh at the fact that we used to ban interracial marriage too. That wasn't considered "traditional" either. :)

Can't wait to see Proposition H8 overturned.

  • Only a homosexual would come up with brittney spears as their all encompassing example of marriage in america.

-Can I use the Village People to encompass everything that is homosexual now?

Homosexuality must really be tied to brain damage, if this is how they come to their conclusions of what marriage is.

  • You still have to remember that Britney Spears' marriage was still considered "traditional," smart one. Also, Interracial marriage was once considered "nontraditional."

Village People? Never seen it. The comparison is lost on me. :)

Just off the record, I'm straight and married. Congratulations for making yourself look like even more of an idiot by presuming me homosexual. Does this give me the excuse to presume that you're a whiny eleven year old for replying for a four month old comment? :D

  • Either way, will all due sarcasm and snarkiness aside, no hard feelings. My original comment was never meant to be viciously inclined against those who believe in Proposition 8: Just the concept of the proposition itself.

You're entitled to your own opinion and I'm entitled to mine. We're only human. :)

  • @castawayds we could always go with the numerous people with many divorces

the only thing tied to brain damage is religion

  • @idaman12345 Isn't it interesting how homosexuals support pouring gas on a fire, and then condemning the fire???

-Yeah, homosexuals support ALL THE IMMORAL practices of fueling society with temptations and harmful things that can divide a married couple, and then criticize the couple for divorcing.

Nah, homosexuals WANT DIVORCE, it turns attention away from their perverse and hateful beliefs.

Um... religion tied to brain damage??? -just another lie homosexuals want to spread.

  • @castawayds not a lie, just an opinion ive observed over time

    your post proves it

  • Its ironic how you put a picture of an interracial couple under "perserve the traditional definition of marriage",when interracial marriage used to be illeagal.Prop 8 is discrimination!

  • Prop 8 appears to have passed. Now tolerance goes both ways in California. I appreciate all of you who voted and participated in democracy on this most important issue. I appreciate the kind and respectful tone and good people that are on either side of this issue. I'm glad when we can be tolerant of each other. And I'm thankful for freedom of speech, a fundamental human right.

  • Prop 8 is not intended to discriminate against homosexuals. It is intended to preserve traditional marriage. Gays are entitled to the same rights as married couples through domestic partnerships. They receive tax breaks, health benefits, etc, just like married couples.

  • Your church, as a private entity, can preserve whatever kind of marriage it likes. The U.S.A., however, was founded on the constitutional separation of church and state and the freedom of religion and protection of equal rights, like the right to a state marriage--which is a civil ceremony.

According to my religion, eating meat is a sin. Traditional diets do not include meat. Should the purchase and consumption of meat be illegal for all Americans? Or should just belief of my faith abstain?

  • if we have learned something from history,it is that seperate is never equal.

  • You know whats really sad?

    Discrimination.

Which is what everyones doing by voting Yes on prop 8.

Regardless of how you think marriage should be it IS discrimanation.

& for all of the religious comments-So your god doesnt like gay people?Well mine loves all of his children.

    NOOOOO ON PROP 8!

  • I agree God loves gay people and straight people. I believe he also loves traditional marriage, which Prop. 8 protects.

Love everyone AND love traditional marriage... Yes on 8!

  • @prop8isgreat didnt realize prop h8 banned divorce

  • @prop8isgreat Please tell us all how my marriage affects or threatens traditional marriage in any way at all. Please, I'm really curious to know.

  • "For 5,000 years, every CULTURE and every religion - not just Christianity - has defined marriage as a contract between men and women. There is no reason to change the universal definition of marriage to appease two percent of our population."

    YES ON PROP 8!!

  • Good for you beliefs. Now explain to the sane world why your religious beliefs should be imposed on the rest of us in the form of a Constitutional ammendment.

  • Wow -- what a great video! Full of love and totally on the mark! Shows respect for everyone and doesn't allow the hateful people that disagree any degree of allowance.

  • Well done. Proposition 8 strikes the right balance between parental rights, gay rights, and religious liberties. Of course, there are extremists on both sides who may disagree. But most Californians recognize that you can disagree with people and yet still respect them.

    Yes on Prop 8!

  • What I got out of this video...

"I am full of hate, and it's my way or the highway..."

They have no respect. NO ON 8. Don't let the Mormon church pass laws for CALI!
