  • This cover is GREAT.

  • I think the piano intro has a nice touch. Good cover!

  • As much as I love Bruce and The Hold Steady I can't say I love it more The Band's version

  • while i love the Nebraska album i can't wait for the full band version of it to get released. Steve van Zandt mentioned they recorded it back in the day...

  • I've got to say, they ruined the song with the ending. It just became too Look At Me, I'm Trying Too Hard with the last verse and chorus.

  • my money on after hearing this Clarence was proud as shit. the sax is outstanding.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • I've been listening to this version, and the Springsteen version non-stop since I last posted 3 weeks, and I got to say...this is one of the best covers I've heard. I'm sorry, this is better than the Bruce version. The sax is amazing. Second place, Bruce, third place, The Band version.

  • The first time I listened to this, I gotta say, I hated it. On second viewing, it's really good. Damn near transcendent. Still doesn't beat Springsteen's version for me, but DAMN.

  • This does everything a good cover should do - it respects the original song but adds something new at the same time. The moment where the sax kicks in is just electric.

  • Kickass™

  • Springsteen's best song. And a great cover of it. Great cover. I watched Social Distortion cover Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire last night live. That's probably my favorite cover of all time. This one is definitely in the conversation.

  • I enjoy this verson more. Possibly because it's the first version of this song I heard...but then again, this one feels more alive. With the drums and sax, it's just quite wonderful and up beat. It makes a sad meaning sound cheery with hope.

  • This is one of my favorite covers. Ever.

  • bruce picked them to sing this and as win butler said when the boss asks you to sing you sing or else you're fired

  • The Hold Steady is so damn good it makes me want to fuckin' shoot somebody. Or something.

    So tasty.

  • Great version of a great song by a great band.

  • I can't decide between who is most Springsteen-esque, Craig Finn or Brian Fallon?

  • @kieranc92 Id say Brian Fallon, Craig pulls away a lot more from the boss than Brian.

    Both in awesome bands though!

  • The voice sounds a lot like Springsteen.

  • I'm a big fan of both Bruce Springsteen and The Hold Steady. Now I'm a big fan of this particular cover version.

  • This is a really good cover of my favorite Boss tune. I saw Jason Isbell (Drive-By Truckers) play this live with Steve Earle's son Justin and it was also really good. I'll post the video when I get the chance.

  • This is actually quite good.

    Good work fellas!

  • Wow. Fantastic cover. Making a sparse Springsteen song sound like Bruce Hornsby playing punk rock must rank as one of the more impressive musical achievements I've ever heard.

  • I love the hold steady, Bruce and this song. But I think Levon Helm does the best cover. I still like this version though.

  • I have to agree. A little bit of The Band's vocals could make any song better.

  • Almost the whole album is fantastic. This is a great cover.

  • Fucking Kick Ass once again. Bruce has to be smiling. This is thanks from Northeast Minneapolis.

  • Only The Hold Steady could have made such an amazing cover of this song. Really does the original justice. I can't get enough of The Hold Steady.

  • They did a great job, really. Though Bruce's voice is better.

  • pete hess fills the big man clarence clemons' shoes pretty well with the sax.

  • Maybe everything that dies, someday comes back...

  • it's like they wrote the song. It's so close to the original, so close to the bone, and yet they put they're spin on it. Shivers and chills, and I hope Bruce had the same reaction.

  • this is painfully wonderful

  • i guess it was a pretty bad idea to watch this video then wasn't it mate?

  • VERY nice job

  • Absolutely stunning cover, by one of the best bands I've ever heard. True Story.

  • I have never heard of this band before I just happened to come across it and it's a great version!! Obivously not as good as the original but not to far either!!

  • epic bitches

  • This song just gets better and better every time I listen to it. The piano and the sax are nothing short of amazing in this.

  • i love the boss and Nebraska, but the sax in this song is just sublime

  • @koiven it adds depth, and brings variety

  • nice version but bruce is bruce and the version live are fantastic

  • I am a big holdsteady fan, and im a big springteen fan.... and i have to say this is better

  • nuh uh, sorry man but bruce doing this live is always better, although this is very good

  • While this is good, I can't say I like it more then the springsteen version, but as covers go, really well done

  • Damn this is good.

  • This was a charity thing...a bunch of artists like McCartney, Dylan, and Springsteen asked new artists to do covers of their songs...it's cool. And yeah this version is better.

  • I think I prefer this version better than the original to be honest

  • Im sure they do a better version than you district boy maybe you should try.

  • I heard they did this for charity to so that's pretty cool.

  • The horns sound awesome. That said, the chorus is just awful. It sounds like he's just trying to cram all the words in there. The solo vocal section at the end is painful to listen to. If you want an awesome all around version of this song look up The Band's version on their CD Jerico, it's better than Springsteen.

  • you are an idiot.

  • Love it.

  • Sounds AWESOME.

  • I don't really like cover songs, but this is one of the better ones. Still like the first

  • Not better than Springsteen's but awesome nonetheless

  • it is. the tenor sax adds so much that frankly was missing.

  • This is a freaking amazing song, by itself, and this is a really good cover. I always wanted to hear an electric version of this.

  • Dude, Springsteen himself does an electric version with the band. He's also done an acoustic version and a version with the Seeger Sessions band. All of them are incredible.

  • Fantastic

  • he has very good voice. Very similar to Springsteen's

  • the hold steady are so good at playing like bruce springsteen that i can excuse that they play like bruce springsteen

  • Well done.

  • Sounds like Randy Newman.

  • gahhaahahahaha

  • great great cover

  • great great cover :)

  • Letting? He ASKED them to do this.

  • okay, still not that good.

  • Better the bruce spiringsteens . Brilliant.

  • This is a fantastic Cover

  • great!

  • This is good.

  • Fuck this guy "umlax45"
