  • Friends of mine has 5 of these gentle giants and a line of show winners. They have been raising them for 20+ years. The dogs have their own room in the house as well as entrance. The slobber is just part of their character and you must adopt the philosophy of "spit happens". The female is about 180# and the 4 males run 185#-255#. They are truly lap dogs and would much rather play than work, but they are awesome guard dogs when the time comes.

  • @MzWitchyWonder I too used to own a boxer who's lifespan was short because of Cancer, by far best dog I have ever owned. He was totally comfortable with my 1 year old. I know each dog is different, and since you have owned a mastiff, how are they with children? Especially small children?

  • I have a 215 pound mastiff that is only 1 year old. His name is boo. Don't let their body scare you, they are awesome, nice, loyal, and protective.GET ONE!!! : D

  • GORJUSS, just gorjuss!!

  • These are cool dogs. I hope to have one for a pet someday.

  • Our was a 200lb lapdog. One of the greatest breeds I have ever owned. NEVER, EVER,had any issues with him except their lifespan can be shorter than a smaller breed, wish we still had him.

  • HEY its that gay announcer from Disney channel

  • Is it me or does that old lady remind you of Dolly Parton while talking?? :P

  • I HAve A Bull Mastiff, Boxer Mis and hes a sweetie hes 9 and has no health problems ^_^

  • I have a English Mastiff, & he's my world. :]

I love him alot, & he belongs in the family.

  • first time going over to my girlfriends house. she told me she had 2 big dogs. so im walking with her imagining these full grown German Sheps. open her backyard door these 2 giant dark shadows come from around the corner and dog pile me. their names were Jesse & James. now im in love with huge dogs.

  • @mykeylmbaao lol, ide name mine lynard and skynard.

  • I want a mastiff-great dane mix

  • @hd92122 i just got one of them soooo cute !

  • maitenance, trainability, these owners dont know how to train! my english mastiff was trained easier than any other dog i have ever had besides my german shepherd, it was potty trained and could do tricks at about 2 months of age. i only had him for about 2 weeks anyway. I have a black coated one that is slender than most, but taller, he is only 165 pounds. the only problems that mastiffs have are their drool, and hip problems, but other than that it is in the top five family dogs

  • more than 180 pounds of flesh? more like 180 pouns of SLOBER! XD

  • more than 160 pounds of flesh? more like 180 pouns of SLOBER! XD

  • My mastiff is 10.5 years old now. He recently had an operation for bloat and nearly died. Mastiffs are prone to conditions such as bloat, but we didn't know this until it happened to us. Luckily he has recovered well and is back to dancing around. He is a bit slimmer than these ones thought (the runt of the litter) and it has probably saved his life. The vet put him on a diet for his arthritis and he only weighs around 140lb now, but the vet is still trying to get him lower. Love him x

  • They remind me of the beautiful Bulldogs

  • i love mine :D

  • cool dogs, but sadly they dont live long an have many health problems, i wanna have a strong healthy dog, like a boerboel

  • haha they remind me of giant pugs XD

  • i have a mastiff mix with a chow the vet told me hell weiqht 159 but he looks tiny to me but big to other people. How big will he grow??

  • I had a Mastiff once who weighed 437 pounds. Once when I was on vacation in Africa he attacked and killed a mature male elephant and ate him.

  • Mastiffs are so sweet when they are tamed my fav kind of dog but when they are wild they will fuck up anything haha

  • me and my wife and my 3kids just adopted one today and he is such a loving boy

  • what do you get when you combine loose jowls, a floppy tongue and 180 pounds of flesh? Ummmmmm, my grampa? na just jokin

  • i love my rottie, but i also love these awesome beasts.

  • mastiff = biteforce, they break bones!

  • @SinisterSkip i know they bite at 553lbs compared to pitbulls who do 235lbs. i never realise this dog has such raw power. this dog is the sloppiest dog ever which is why it seems so wierd

  • I have a german shepherd, a Rottweiler and an english mastiff and the mastiff gets beet up every day and always loses in races but will not lose at a rope tug

  • He reminds me of my Mastiff. He passed on last Feb, and we are lost without him. Going to try to find a new one, just not sure where to look. The breeder I used for Mako is no longer breeding. BEST DOG EVER!!!

  • @ginanchris74 You can go to petfinder(dot)com and maybe you find one in your local area up for adoption

  • My family is thinking of buying a Mastiff and who ever owns a Mastiff and is reading my comment, can you reply to me on these questions...how much money did your mastiff cost?, how much money do you think you spend on your mastiff in a month?? okay please reply if your can, i really appreciate it.

  • @BNSification price varries on gender and parents..like if there parents are champions or not, i got mine for 600 and its female and thats an amazing deal... you will prob be looking 900+ . monthly coast depends on if you give the dog dry and/or wet food... right now mine is 7 months old and is about 80-90 pounds in wieght and i go through about 100-125lbs of dry and bout 60 cans of wet a month...so depending on brand and what you feed it it will be at least 60-70 a month for a few months.

  • @BNSification We have had a mastiff for 9 years. He has been the greatest joy we have ever experianced. He weighs in a 205lbs, AKC, and we paid $1800. You CAN get them for much cheaper. He gets fed 2 cups dry and 1/2 can of wet twice a day. That's it! Unless you get one that has a lot of energy they normally don't need more or they will become overweight which is very bad on their hips and joints. Please do more research before getting one! They are GREAT dogs. Would not own anything else.

  • @BNSification They are great dogs but please do more research before getting one. Ours is 9 years old this month and weighs 205lbs. He eats 2 cups dry and 1/2 can of wet twice a day. Ours is AKC with a champion bloodline and we paid $1800. They are a companion dog. They like to be with family! They shouldn't be tied up or kept outside. They are a indoor dog. Just remember, it's like having a small horse size wise. They just want to be loved, play a little, and lay around with the family.

  • @Partsguy19 They think they are a small lap dog the way they try and sit with you

  • @Partsguy19 aww wish i had one. i really do!

  • @BNSification You can go to petfinder(dot)com and maybe you find one in your local area up for adoption

  • i have a mastiff x great dane puppy :) cant wait til he grows up hehe

  • my "American Mastiff" is 256lbs. damn beautiful dog.

  • @whiitemike 256 pounds? how do you control him?

  • /sigh...castles...ok lady. Way to spread the stupid.

  • I have a mastiff, his name is Tucker! He is the most adorable dog ever and he certainly is protective. They do drool a lot. We have to clean doors at least once a month.

  • i got a mastiff, but despite the size, mine is kind of a wimp

  • i love big dogs!!!!!!!!!

  • The Mastiff is famous mostly because it fought in World War 1.

  • @kennethdknott

It did? I always thought that the german shepherd was really the only type of dog they used in WWI if any dogs at all. When I think of the mastiffs and war, I think more along the lines of the Gallic wars of Julius Caesar or later Roman empire wars.

  • @foxesV I know.Thats what i thought.I only learned this from a Mastiff book.

  • @foxesV

War dogs have not actually fought in wars since the invention of the fire arm. War dogs in WW1 were basically used as messengers and to find land mines.

War dogs actually FOUGHT during the days of ancient Rome and of course Alexander The Great.

  • @kennethdknott

    You are incorrect.

War dogs have not actually fought in wars since the invention of the fire arm. War dogs in WW1 were basically used as messengers and to find land mines.

War dogs actually FOUGHT during the days of ancient Rome and of course Alexander The Great.

  • @MandyLionWWIII no i am right,i read it from a book

  • @kennethdknott LOL! So... As soon as something, ANYTHING is shown to you in the form of print media it makes it a reality for you? Well... This comment you are reading right now is basically the same thing as a book only in virtual form... Since you seem to believe anything you read here is some more info for you to spread as if it were true... Richard Simmons is not gay... Pigs can fly... Snakes have gorgeous legs... And you are NOT stupid. LOL I love a gullible gulliber!
  • I have a mastiff.

He's like a big, lazy bear.

My two smaller dogs bite little children, and he lets them climb on him.

  • What a wonderful dog to breed - prone to cancer, bone problems, and bloat - yes,

    Mastiff breeders are SOOOO responsible.

  • @MsLabMom Its not the Responsible breeders to blame..

  • @MsLabMom SOME mastiff breeders are responsible, but not all. You have to do your homework on the breeder no matter what breed you decide to buy. If people do not purchase dogs from irresponsible breeders, hopefully they will stop breeding. You should only buy a dog from a breeder who is interested in producing sound dogs and improving the breed standard. You should see all pedigrees and testing within the lineage of the parents.

  • a friend of mine who owns a mastiff taught it to lick the drool of its face :D

  • Modern EM's are just too slow and sluggish. Its sad that breeders are no longer breeding for speed, intelligence, endurance and health.

I like EM's, they are nice friendly giants, but I have to say, they are pathetic if you think about it. Just watch them move around. They are extremely slow and sluggish, not to mention stupid.

I'm not trolling, and no I don't hate EMs, I just think they should be bred the way they were in the medieval ages.

    Please, no EM fanboys reply.

  • @bluegama500 if it's a big dog you want, you can't go wrong with the Newfoundland breed at 1:07, similar to the mastiff but more intelligent and without the health problems. That's the dog i hope to get one day, when i move to the large family home in Chile :)

  • @BVargas78 I never said I wanted a newfoundland lol. They are friendly dogs and all but still very slow and sluggish.

Also, big dogs are just too much care for me. I will have to pay for the food, large yard etc.

  • @BVargas78 Newfoundland's are an awesome breed. However, they have as many or more health problems than mastiffs (as they are bread down from mastiffs). Mastiff: "Major concerns: CHD, gastric torsion. Minor concerns: ectropion, PPM, vaginal hyperplasia, elbow dysplasia, PRA." Newfoundland: "SAS, pulmonic stenosis, elbow dysplasia, CHD, gastric torsion. Minor concerns: OCD, entropion, ectropion, vWD, cataract." Life span for both is 8-10 years.

  • @bluegama500 what an #$^%^*%

  • @parabellum1130 What? Are you calling me an asshole?

  • @bluegama500 uuummm no not at all ..... really you couldnt b that dumb could you ...

  • @parabellum1130 I guess I could, since you English is so bad I can't tell whether you speaking to the fucking queen of England.

  • @bluegama500 you're right...breeders today are only concerned about looks and not keeping true to a dogs history, thats why EM's are lumbering slow creatures, english bulldogs look and behave nothing like the originals and neo mastiffs are overweight wrinkle monsters and nothing like the roman war dogs they were bred to be

  • Giant Dog!

  • did the women just call the dog a hoe

  • i saw this on TV already

  • i saw this on TV already

  • i am going to get an english mastiff and name him bowser

  • these mastiff actually have a bite force of almost 600 pounds...think about that..

  • i <3 there lips and mouth !!!!xx

  • those dogs will FUCK you up

  • @mxrace709 if your friendly it will attack you with drool, if your an intruder it will attack you with 556lb of bite force! omg

  • @mxrace709 You got that right!

  • @mxrace709

    You're an idiot!!

You NOTHING about these gentle giants!

PLEASE do not speak until you educate yourself!

  • i have one

    his name is leon

  • What are you folks feeding your mastiffs, purina? - yuck. I have two and my bill is about 350.00 - 400.00 a month. I give them some wet food and/or cooked chicken/beef with premium dog food. In addition to vitamins and supplements. Its really important to feed them well. There are reasons why mastiffs can have health issues later in life, if the owners don't feed them appropriately, they will die early. My girlfriends mastiff is 12 years old, a lot of it comes down to diet and a healthy weight.

  • @Stauffer976

kids talk back and do not mind you

mastiffs are better than a kid

  • I have 2 of them and they don't eat as much as you'd think. 2 to 4 cups of dry food a day each. A 40 pound bag of food lasts my 2 weeks.

It's about $56 a month and that is for 2 of them.

  • i want a mastiff soooo bad D:

  • i want a dog like that D: they could carry my stuff around for me.

  • How ironic, the lady interviewed has a last name Strong. And she owns gigantic Mastiffs XD

  • My uncle has a great dane mastiff mix dog. It´s enormous.

  • i love my mastiff ;D

  • I used to have a old english mastiff name mary jane. The worst part about owning a dog that big (she was 215lbs) was the land mines she would leave in the yard.

  • @Eels88ya 215 pounds?? WOW, that's amazing.

  • @unrealityproduction she was am amazing dog. Wish I had video to post with her to show her off.

  • @Eels88ya haha i had one, 198 pounds, i kept a mini snowblower when she went to her dump area. everytime she dumped her load, i would blow it into the ditch :P

  • got a mastiff ... very stubborn, if i call at him he sometimes just sit down and look at me. "Shoud i bother? Nah, dont think so, think i'll rather just sit here..". Or he might give me a big, disgrunted "sigh" and look at me with those big sad eyes when i try to teach him something, then its no point trying cause he's boored. But he's quite smart actually when he wants to, and what a guard dog!

  • oh another patronising american narrator for their liquid minds.

  • i like the Tibetan mastiff better, cause it looks like a lion.

  • Great looking dog!

  • i could never take care of one, but he looks like he would be a great loyal dog.

  • @bamaceo59 I'd deffinatly change his diet....

  • I think... Every breed is a brred apart form all others according to this guy lol.

  • my mastiff lily is the best...wouldn't hurt a fly unless it hurt us. they shed like crazy though XD so. much. vaccuming. but if you love them you get over it :) she is the smartest ever and is very mellow I LOVE YOU LILY <3333333333

  • imagine thier food bill

  • @adamsmith85

    $20/week

  • @adamsmith85 it's not that expensive, you're looking at around $60-$100 per month, they sell BIG DOG food you know.

  • @adamsmith85 imagine their poop hahaha

  • @adamsmith85

Its about $120 a month for mine.

  • @stanmimo you can raise kid for that.haha,jk...keep him satisfied, they are AWESOMEE

  • Actually because of their low energy level, they don't eat any more than a labrador. Mine eats 4 cups a day. 2 in the AM 2 @ night, but I keep her at a very healthy weight. No people food for the dog that is tall enough to help herself from the table.

  • @adamsmith85

    $25/week

  • @adamsmith85

The food bill isn't as outrageous as you'd imagine. It's the shedding and the drool that are.

  • @bamaceo59 hahahah wtf.

  • @bamaceo59 O_O Well that's unhealthy, very.

  • I think about feeding dogs its all about how active they are and also how big...atm i have a shittsuXpomerainean nad he eats 5 meals a day, he eats all human food usually in the morning hed eat cook oats with a raw egg...and 1/4 milk...and luch and dinner either cooked salmon, chicken, beef, livers , with vegies and snacks are usually dogs biscuts and he is tottaly healthy....and very very active. but when i buy my gaint maly i will mix human food and dog biscuts together..cz of money

  • @TheRivalConcept Shih Tzu, not Shittsu

  • @TheRivalConcept holy shit you feed him 5 times a day!!

i have 3 dogs, 1 small, 1 medium, and 1 large, the're all fed once a day, different sized feeds of course, and they are all quite fat!, im currently working on making them lose wieght, your dog must be obese!!

  • @rotansilversplash No far from it ^^ my dog is pure muscle and very lil fat. he dont eat standard sized meals for his size he eats 5 smaller meals and he gets tons of exersise. he is a small dog but he is 4yrs old or 5 xD but yeh has a lot of evergy to burn and its fine. Dogs can be fed more or less depending on their energy levels if u see my Channel u can see a vid of him and tho he is a small dog he aint so small.

  • The Best Breed God has created!!!!!

  • Raw meat for these animals are unhealthy O_e unless you buy the actual raw meat that's ment for dogs lol. Because uncooked raw meat is very unhealthy and carries plenty of bacteria.

  • there sooooooo cute

  • stupid women, you dont have a door that works in your house cos you dont know how to train ya dog.

  • British accent: Release the warrrr dogs!!!!!!!

    lol...

  • this looks like bull mastiff....i mean Mastiff is such a borad name...u have nepolian mastiff bull mastiff, english mastiff, tebetian mastiff just to name a few ^^

  • @TheRivalConcept I know right - lol. The people we bought our dog just said she was a mastiff (and great pyrenees) and my father assumed bull mastiff. I did a little research, she's english mastiff lol(: Silly people.

  • our mastiff/wolfhound eats about 110lbs a month of raw meat.....

  • how much do one actualy spends on Mastiff dog food in average per month ?

  • @1ThatsWassup1 Depends on the type of food bought. I have one and we buy BAGS AND BAGS they fill them in a huge hunter's bucket. You would normaly feed them twice a day in bulk - lol. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. We use those double bowl things, we have two of them, smaller one for water, much larger one for food.(:

  • @bReNCYDE all right. You said that you fed him twice a day, in the morning and the afternoon. Isn't it dangerous to feed dogs in the morning ? I was told once that feeding a dog in the morning might be dangerous for it

  • @1ThatsWassup1 No. Not at all. We feed her around 6 AM because that's when she wakes up to eat and walk. She just turned a year old and we have had no issues with her at all(: She and her older brother who live done the street are fairly healthy. All big dogs like her and her brother are most likely to get hip issues when they get older.

  • I love these dogs so much! ^_^

  • I understand what you mean but they say that the Kangal ancestors could be from the Molosser type dog in Europe and its surroundings. and outside of Turkey is Kangal anatolishe shepherd named because of the protection in conscious dogs, it may actually not be exported outside of turkey hot real name Kangal

  • Rocky Balboa had a mastiff named "Butkiss".

  • holy crap, 180lbs? That's like twice my weight! D:

  • There are a lot of Mastiff breeds and a lot of dogs with Mastiff in them. What a great breed

  • @yudisap79

This is not a movie you spamming cunt.

  • i used to have an english mastiff named Gunner, i would always play and run around with him, but we moved and had to keep him outside overnight on a metal stick with a collar, the next day i went to check on him he wasn't their. He had a distinct black ring around his tail. WHich was awesome. If anyone has ever seen him or currently owns, him, please message me to let me know he is happy.

  • when I look at my mastiff, dignified is far from the first word that comes to mind.

  • @scorpiaspy i know. always slobbering and taking immense dumps behind my couch....

  • We love our rescued Mastiff. She's a big baby!

  • i have one lotsof space and howling and scarey bark

  • cool dogs

  • i remember the first time i met one i was about 6 and my mom and i where at this lady's house when she asked "you aren't afraid of dogs are you?" and i just said no but then she let that thing in and it scared the living crap out of me. haha.

  • most dog owners don't even mention it, but dogs eat poop. I had a dalmation who ate his own poop fresh out of it's butt!

  • @daedalusthegreat oh my goodness no

  • @daedalusthegreat ... look at it like recycling!

Seriously, a lot of dogs do this if they don't digest their food throughly. If they poop and they smell the undigested food in the crap, they assume that it's food.

  • @JustinPaulS81 its either malnutrition, or attention seeking

  • @daedalusthegreat - dogs do eat their poop. Yummy.

  • Mastiff isn't a popular dog, here in Brazil.

  • @daltonagre - how come?

  • but mastiff's are not active

  • My roomate has a dog whose parents were a chihuaua and a masitff. He as big as a mastiff, but looks like a chihuaua. Its surreal.

  • @swanukiyo you should totally post a video of it.

  • @swanukiyo how does it get as big as a mastiff? a dog with a mastiff parent and a chiuhuah parent would be medium at best. i think the large gene is recessive.

  • @swanukiyo ya post a vid

  • All dogs will sometimes eat their own poop. Not uncommon

  • @krstnlhjt i eat my own poo. theres nothing wrong with it.

  • the Kengal has the highest bite force - even more that the pitt and the rottie? Learn something every day

  • Anogram - OMG that was funny

  • Comment removed

  • We had a mastiff once. He was a stupid thing though, he ate his own shit -_-;

  • @GaseousNobility my sister's bichon maltese eats the cats poop straight out of the kitty litter when he's done with his own. beat that

  • where did the mastiffs come from

  • My friend has one. Everytime I walk in the house I have to get sniffed by the Mastiff as my friend says "friend". Its a very nice dog, but anyone that it doesnt know, it will attack because it was trained that way.

  • The Kangal has the highest bite force, stronger than a lion. Arround 730 lbs!

  • i own a mastiff

    best frickin dogs ever

    nice protective and huge

bites like the jaws of life but only bites when truely threatened

can easily over power a pittbull and also easily knocks u over
