  • expert village sucks

  • My strenght and conditioning professor used a video from this guy to show our class what NOT to do for some exercises. This guys has some other bad examples of exercises. At this point I would avoid just watching coming from him.

  • its in the legs bud

  • dont listen to this guy kids if you want to improve arm strength play long toss

  • pitchers need external rotation.... not internal. this will just hurt your arm lol

  • torn rotator cuff

  • baseball players really dont need big upper bodies

    ex.buster posey and ichiro

  • and if you put your ankles through the loops and kick, your legs will get stronger LMAO BULLSHIT

  • do u guys smell that. i think its a big hunk of BULLSHIT

  • Somebody call James Andrews, he's going to be booked for the next decade with this kind of crap going around the internet

  • Worst advice ever to give an to aspiring MLB pitcher.

  • He didn't even play baseball at Hamilton he was cut and always ineligable

  • yankees softball hoodie?

  • yankees suck^^

  • You're better off doing squats.

  • DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS VIDEO. as some have mentioned, this is a similar movement to rotator cuff exercises, but that is very different than strength training as an athlete. and yes, baseball players - including pitchers - NEED upper body strength training. but not from this guy.

  • although it seems like a good idea, this is a good way to ruin your arm...your muscles will eventually become too strong for your tendons, your bones, and your ucl to handle...for pitching I wouldn't use anything more than resistance bands for your arm. focus on lower body and core muscles if you're looking for a long healthy career.

  • why did you even put this video up, are you trying to destroy a generation of pitchers

  • Strength comes from the core and legs pushing off the mound! this really isn't helpful... Yes you want to build strength in ur arm but pls don't give the idea that this will make you a better pitcher because it's totally incorrect!!!

  • Doing this workout helps your shoulders. A key part of pitching

  • my pitching coach makes me do this before starts.

  • what if u cant afford a machine like that

  • there is a thing thats about 5 bucks that u hook up on a metal bar that helps

  • bungee cord?

  • kinda but it hooks up wit a pole and its gotta ball at the end. its helped me get bout 5 mph more on my fastball

  • ask any baseball expert on pitching they will tell you to exercise legs for pitching. the stronger the pushoff the mound the more transfer.

  • dude soooooo right, legs give so much more speed than your arms will

  • this doenst help me i throw sidearm

  • if u put more weight on the machine, it will fuck up ur arm

  • yeah, its like throwing a bowling ball

  • i use lighter weights, but more repitition so that you get leaner muscle which improves velocity

  • This is similar to armstrong

  • If you just get out an throw everyday will increase arm strength. This guy knows nothing.

  • you just cant get out and throw everyday you will hurt all the muscles in your rotater cuff u idiot

  • Wtf is this guy talking about?

  • The relationship between strength and velocity is bogus. That's why you have 11 year olds throwing 70MPH (equivalent to 95 plus MPH on an adult) without anywhere near the strength of an adult. Also, best to do most of your training from free weight and medicine balls so has to work on stabalization and balance...machines do not allow for this, hence you don't get the most for the time you train. Besides, the arm goes for the ride, as the power and velocity of pitching is from the ground up.

  • i agree with you on the ground up aspect but tell the people that use steroids there is no relationship betweed strength and velocity

  • Dude, are you for real? And I do mean it, seriously... Giving such misguided, dimwitted advice is at best moronic, at worst dangerous for young guys buying that crap. You should be forbidden to be close to an athlete until you get your strenght training 101 right

  • Increasing weight does nothing for velocity? Take someone who can incline press 185 lbs from bottom to top in one second and increase his strength to 400 lbs while maintaining the same speed. Who can overcome gravity faster?

  • Good for shoulder a operation!!! First of all a flexable and strong core and legs is important... Sit ups, running and plently of streching will help the core. Lunges, sprints and streching will work ur legs! Physio bands are good for ur shoulders not weights... Only want slight resistance work! And apart from that work on ur mechanics and delevope torque and leverage!

This guy will not make you a better baseball player!!!!

  • Wrong, increasing weight does nothing for velocity, increasing arm speed through proper mechanics, and core strength will increase arm speed.

  • carlos boozer

  • This is abolutely false. Legs and core are the most important compenents to a 90 mph fastball, this exercise will tear your shoulder UP.

  • What about the legs?!?!?! Most important part of pitching strength.

  • yo fool

do your homework first before you ruin my arm

  • lol what an idiot!!!!

  • I felt bad even giving this one star because it doesn't even deserve it. This is the worst advice you could give to a pitcher who wants to throw harder.

  • Terrible. Just terrible. This is just as bad as a basketball player shooting hoops with a medicine ball.

  • this is nosense you do not want to lift heave at all work all muscles back legs abs not as much front

  • Nonsense...there is no science that this exercise will improve velocity. It goes against all we know about the kinetic chain from the ground up in maximizing arm velocity.

  • what if we don;t have that machine

  • Then you can't perform this movement. Your shoulder will thank you later.

  • How much can this increase your velocity.

  • Actually, as long as you are using a VERY VERY light weight and do that rotation slowly to the positive point of the rep then slowly back down to the negative...this will strengthen the joint and muscle tissue surrounding the joint. I'm a Physical Therapist and we use an exercise similar to this but we use rubber band like tools.

  • Very true. Improves release-point and follow-through strength. Like he said, very light weights are key in this department, as you are working on the muscles directly effecting the joint ligaments. Enough for valid resistance, but not enough whereas you need to put any of your body into to rep. You want your forearm to be tired after this one, not your shoulder.

  • 76,400 videos? DAMN

  • this guy has no idea what he's talking about

  • sorry dude but your gonna tear your ucl that way

  • you gotta do way more than that if you wanna know a full workout using cords hit me up on my page, i went from 79 to 91mph is 6-8 weeks

  • I think your going to hurt many players rotator cups trying to warm up like that!

  • Interesting video. I'm not sure how much it would help to develop muscles like this. I play cricket and the guys with the longest throws and quickest bowlers are often quite skinny and not particularly gym strong. I've noticed javelin throwers are generally quite slim, not big built like shot putters.
