  • I am watching this video a year after you posted it and it was useful to make my mind for the nikon p7000! Thaks!

  • As I said - it depend what you want. If I want to have a camera with a hot shoe to use my 580 or 430 flash I might as well take a DSLR.

  • Depends what you want - the S95 is the BEST camera because its so small and handy you take it EVERYWHERE. Have used/owned a wide range of compact cameras (including Nikon & Canon) all the way back to the G1. I simply don't take out a bulky camera useless I intend to photo something. S95 simply wins. Pictures are stunning. Manual controls are quick and easy without having to dig deep into menus.

  • @mikeismad61 not everybody needs a pocketable camera. G12 has a hot shoe, which is more important than pocketability for me and many other people.

  • So wich of these three has the better hd video?

  • nikon p7000 with firmware upgrade is a better camera. It costs $130 less, zoom when doing video, 7x zoom, mic output, wirless flash, better white balance.

  • i like tha design of the nikon but im a canon guy!

  • The S95 win's for me especially since i already have DSLR's it looks much more pocketable.

The G12 does have a flash hot shoe though but my 580EX II is larger then the camera.

  • Apparently nobody remembers the Nikon p6000... the p7000 is not Nikon's first camera in this "space"

  • @oramandor lol, no, its their second, and almost an exact copy of the G12, which is what, canon's 6th camera in this space.

    ;)

  • Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the unbiased overview. I asked my brother which of the two-G12 or P7000 I should get, and (him being a Canon fanboy) told me, "it's basically for people who are retarded when it comes to cameras"

This review really helped me decide to get the S95, thanks again!

  • I like the one that comes in the pretty blue box. Do you have any with a red box? Red boxes are the best!

    (kidding, the S90/95 rock!)

  • s95 clearly. It's the only pocketable cam

  • The Wireless Remote Control ML-L3 communicates with sensors on both the front and back of the COOLPIX P7000 to enable remote shutter release....

  • Sorry another question. Nice remote too, can you send me a link to what you are using?

  • Awesome video. Thanks for the comparison. May I ask what lighting you are using for this video? It is superb, very evenly lit. I noticed you have an LED light on top of the G12.

  • canon g12 ftw

  • Nikon has a wireless remote...

  • Classic compromise cameras - but someone will be happy with them

But a fair few will be highly frustrated by the limitations

My biggest annoyance would be access to - Manual Focus

Not having a mic socket - are Canon saying - for £3 audio socket see Professional Range

Probably something to do with some stupid Import Tariffs

    Filter ring I applaud

  • The nikon coolpix p7000 can use an wireless remote

  • hola thank's for this video

but i want to ask you what is name of the remote that you use for timelapse rec in the G12

  • @LELO202 There's a link in the description, thanks.

  • ya gonna review the SX30 IS

  • Some things. Didn't mention zoom. The Canon has 5x (28-140mm) Nikon 7.1x (28-200mm). The intervalometer (time lapse) mentioned is built into the Nikon, the G12 requires the accessory you show to do the same. Nikon is strobist friendly (off camera flash, CLS capable) no such luck with G12 need a cord attached. Both can be triggered wirelessly (both have IR sensor for it).

More zoom, stereo mic in, built-in intervalometer for time lapse, off camera flash friendly, my $0.02 is Nikon.

  • @Clydesdale2045 and nikon p700 is very very slow using raw...

    Canon G12 is best.....

  • @ferrettidm Congrats, you must be the only one who cares how fast a p&s can shoot raw.
