Great video reminds me of years ago when my aunt and uncle would be blitzed and taking care of me they would crank the radio and have the tv volume all the way down good times.
well true to your word you have indeed checked out one of my older videos (one of my first in fact!)
I suspect this would prove an interesting experiment, maybe next time I watch my favourite film I will just watch it while listening to a favourite album and see what happens...
Yes im winding my way threw them when i have extra time on yt.Another fun thing in the same vain is put one movie on and then put another on and cut the sound on one.
I dont get the film Hard Candy. Well the ending. Is the guy a peadophile or not? And does the girl make it as a suicide or exposes him being a peadophile??
somebody told me that the guy is like umm, well its someone where he likes children, and the girl finds that out and tortures him until he kills himself, someone told me that
other than the fact that he seduces young girls into taking their clothes off for pictures (and we don't know what else), she suspects him of raping and murdering at least one girl.
I saw almost the whole thing (I watched it on showtime), but it actually shows almost nothing. Indeed, many people say they would rather watch gore than the slow psychological torture and grim suggestions the movie makes.
Music was by Sublime, the song was called "Santeria". Embarrassingly I got it wrong when I credited the group in the video, the correct title/name of band is in the video description
i have done that. not with that movie and song, i actually dont remember what song it was but a music video was muted and the song on myspace fit just as well as the original. btw hard candy is a great movie.
I have to disagree. The lyrics have nothing to do with the video. I guess that's why I was bothered by it. Although I must say props for finding a song that just magically 'goes along' beat wise to a trailer. That's pretty cool.
I guess it is the music more than the lyrics that fit, could the timing have been any more perfect at 02:25 where the shooting, crashes start with the quick cuts and crashing sound as the guy falls in the bath? In so many places the music changes pace at the right time, or vocals start as scene changes e.g. at 0:54
Lyrically thought there are loads of references to 'baby' which is a word used when they use a lot when they 1st start talking in the chat room at 0:44.
I haven't seen the film, or the original trailer so I can't really comment on that. But the fact that the music seemed to fit the trailer to a certain extent, you'd almost think that music was suppose to be there. lol, cool.
That worked out a little too well if you ask me. I just recently saw that trailer, btw, and thought the movie looked ridiculous. Frankly, I like it better the way you did it!
this was a real change of direction for me at the time, doing this kind of video, but it is nice to try different things that the regular viewers wouldn't necessarily expect. I still try to do that now e..g The Gemycat story for example.
Really? You all think it made it all creepy? o_o Nothing against you all, I just disagree. I'd have liked a slow, unsettling song. This sounded like it would be in the background of Napolean Dynomite. x_x
In any case, though, it's cool that you discovered something you liked by accident! 8D
sorry about that, I did change the name a few times and obviously managed to confuse myself in the process. I've added the correct name of the band on the video description to avoid any confusion for future viewers.
It is a great song and thanks for taking the time to comment.
FWIW, the Artist of the music is the band "Sublime".. Santeria is the name of the song.. I normally wouldnt care, but i hold Sublime in very high regard, and since the band is no longer together , due to the death of the lead vocalist, we owe it to him to make this point.
Hey man, I added you to the Randomness playlist. You can pin a shiny red star on your lapel. I too am interested to see the movie now. I can definitely see the randomness in that event. Part of the fun of randomness to me, is the unbelievable coincidences that can happen. The lyric "my baby" is repeated in the song but also appears in the opening instant message sequence.
I must admit I hadn't made the connection between the 'my baby' message and lyrics.
Re my comment to Aeric above "all I'm taking credit for is randomly putting the 2 together, although perhaps that is something of contradiction..." - I didn't mean that I didn't this was a random video, the contradiction was how I could possibly take credit for something which I didn't consciously create, which funnily enough is a bit frustrating now that this is becoming my most popular vid! ;)
You wouldn't be the first person to take credit for something you didn't actually create. There are tons of artists who make "found art". They'll basically take an interesting object that was not originally intended to be art, and present it in an artistic way, such as putting it on the wall in a gallery. They don't change it or add to it many times, but there ya go. I think you've got yourself some found art right here.
Well, I quite enjoyed that. I daresay this music was better for that trailer than the one they actually used. Well done, even by accident. I might actually go see that movie now, though it looks like the kind that starts of well and than ends in chaos.
Thanks Aeric, not my video and not my audio - all I'm taking credit for is randomly putting the 2 together, although perhaps that is something of contradiction...
I don't think we failed, exactly. If you are climbing a mountain and you don't reach the top, is that failure? Or is it a step towards eventually reaching the top? I dunno my glass is always half full when it comes to film.
Hey Zoe, what I wanted to say was that many users have tried to escape the loop between total randomness (aka chaos) and interestingness (Prepoceros's word, not mine). There are steps of randomness to be taken in between, which we have taken to make some great videos, especially you. To me, the entire video discussion just by itself was a total success.
As for half full glasses... *takes Zoe's film glass and emtpies it in one chug*... ones in my vicinity tend to be completely empty. (c;
true... but I thought the director of the video was being clever by having no dialogue - I watched it with a friend and we both thought it was a great video (with the wrong soundtrack)
just watched it again and what are the odds that at 02:25 the crashing sound from the song coincides with the violent bit in the video... spooky I say ;)
Yep, definitely by accident - it was only when the trailer finished and the music continued that I realised they were not connected - was kinda like a Twilight Zone moment. Never heard of NAMBLA before, just googled it and wish I hadn't...
