Chief Justice at that time, Hilario Davide came to administer the oath of Gloria without no further conversations or comments. A true robot~
Thousands of police were used to capture Estrada. even though he is a president back then, he still count as one right? Why use such number of policemen? It showed how eager they were to get him out of Malacanang. A true threat he is~
Then comes thousands of people at EDSA to oust him. He won fair and square by millions, how come he was ousted by thousands, mainly by metro people( I wonder whether those people really understand the issues and wht's happenin' around, hmp). Where were the million people who voted for him? At the provinces, the people from far from metro. Gloria and her henchmen took advantage of that. The socially disadvantaged people who supports Estrada were very far then. A fair verdict, huh~
When he replaced Ramos, there were only approximately 3 Billion pesos left at the national treasury and a bit more on BSP. When Estrada was ousted, approximately 72 Billion pesos were left at the NT. Within a span of almost 3 years he was able to make a lot of difference. A true president for the masa~
I'm not an Estrada fan, but I am aware of this stuff. He is NOT guilty in any cases filed against him.I must agree, we lost one great president because of that greedy Gloria and her henchmen. A true greedy group of people~
Just imagine, Erap won the 1998 national election with a total of 10.8 million votes while others had votes ranging between 3 to 4 million. A true landslide~
..about kay erap, wla aq xado lam dun, but i know thousands of people are united since they all tried to stay in edsa on how many days to protest against erap. i am not a politician but i know what i am doin before and after....
At paano nagkaroon ng pandarambong doon Estrada was ousted by a coup ,pretending to be "people power". ilegal ang pagkakaupo ni Arroyo, Estrada was not convicted in the impeachment trial, so wla silang legal basis. A military coup or even people power is not stated in the constitution to replace a president. Unlike Cory in 1986, won an election, this was confirmed by the Batasang Pambansa, few weeks after marcos fled.
What about President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Her bribery and corruption are beyond doubt. Why is she still in office. Congress is literally eating off the palm of her hands. Filipino people open your eyes and kick Gloria out of office. Elected officials must not plunder the country's wealth. Muslim law must be followed and crooked politicians must be beheaded or hanged.
I agree!almost all who are in office are all corrupt.Erap wasn't just a good player so he lost the game and was then politically judge and was out of office.Gloria is the most ovious corrupt ever. But she's damn g00d in "palus0t effect"..
this prof. simbulan must be the dumbest prfessor i have ever heard,ESTRADA WAS NEVER IMPEACHED BY ANYONE OR WAS NEVER OUSTED FROM OFFICE,THE PEOPLE PROTESTED AND THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT TO IMPEACH HIM, BUT THAT DID NOT MATERIALIZE,SO THE OPPOSITION WENT OUT IN THE STREETS AND HAD THE PP2--PLEASE PROFESSOR BOBO NA TAGA U.P.--DO NOT TWIST HISTORY,IF YOU DONT KNOW, DONT MAKE UP SHIT,ANG BOBO MO!!!

Eraps case is a political conviction not a judicial conviction, philippines worst and corrupt as ever with arroyo administration, malacanang bribes politicians, military generals, yet they can never buy the hearts of the filipinos for president to erap.
Look and learn more about, JOse pidal, Hello Garci, JOk2 bolante, ZTE deals, what are those???
The trial of Joseph Estrada is Malaking palabas para sa taong bayan. He will be pardon anyway. Kundi hindi manggugulo lang ang mga disipulo nito. Philippines now is discouraging. Dapat alisin na ang senado.
Im filipino and im so embarrased with the judiciary system of our country as well as the goverment. Imagine after being aquitted of amassing millions of pesos the goverment has a plan to pardon him not later this christmas! a poor guy robbing a small amount of cash would end up yrs in prison while Mr. estrada amassing millions would be enjoying his remaining life in luxury.
It goes to show that in the Philippines, if you're NOBODY, you will ROT IN JAIL but if you're SOMEBODY (someone with power and/or money) then there are two things that can happen to you: (a) Get jailed yet have special privileges & (b) get away with the crime. Besides, Estrada is but one man and there are hundreds even thousands of Gov't officials who plunder the State yet they get away with it. Sad, yes. The SYSTEM simply "didn't work" plain and simple.
i dont think we have to blame erap the filipinos chose him and in the contrary the accusation of erap was paid trough malicious political drama and controversy. I strongly believe that the verdict was influence not only the judges but with arroyo's administration. It's a bit unfair if we see erap as ordinary person because in the reality it really changes. it is a political decision not a judicial decision.
If you look at how the "Judiciary" behaved during the Arroyo Administration, it has exercised "judicial independence." Even the Supreme Court junked some EO's from Malacanang. Even the Subic Rape Case which had a lot of pressure, the Judge did render a fair decision. Re: Erap, it's quite misplaced to blame the Justices at Sandiganbayan not unless you have PROOF, of couse. So easy to accuse, so hard to prove, right?
I have strong reasons to believe that those who are crying (or pretending to be crying) among the rallyists are "paid criers." The rallyists were interviewed what they understood about the Plunder Law and not one of them knew that it was all about - most if not all don't have the faintest idea (except the organizers of Erap, of course).
Maybe Escudero is not referring to a big fish (like Erap) rather a BIG FISH like Tuna or Blue Marlin. Hahahaha. I am one in mind with the observation of Prof. Simbulan that former President Estrada was given all the opportunity, all the chances, even all the leeway to defend himself. Only the opposition are adding "political color" to the Verdict.
well, yeah. that will come. like i said, the likes of mendoza, abalos, and the other blatant scums in the administration should also be brought to justice.
I can't think of any comment but i have question: "Does the Phil. ex president Joseph Estrada, in anyway, can have a second chance for court trials or is he condemned definitely?"
i think he can make an appeal...in the end, it's still the President's call. she can grant him clemency, which is what I think would likely happen. I guess the government just wants to tell the world that we do have a justice system afterall and that due process has been followed. But then Erap is already in his 70s and judging from how Pres. Arroyo is so keen on winning everyone's support, she would likely give in to any pressure that the Erap group will try to exert.
My take on this is, give it a few months, or a year at most, I bet he'll be granted clemency and may even be allowed to go on exile somewhere. I just hope that the likes of Mendoza, Abalos, and other blatant scums in the administration who are obviously making lots of money from government deals will also be brought to justice.
He had his day in Court. The only way the Verdict could either be SUSTAINED, MODIFIED, or OVERTURNED is thru an Appeal in the Sandiganbayan or if their appeal is not granted there, thru Supreme Court. Once the SC renders its decision with FINALITY then that's the last recourse - whether Erap would be guilty or not.
