  • Unions built this Nation, but when skilled workers get pasted by cause they are not next on the list, it sucks.

When all that matters is that paycheck, the work gets sloppy, just look at the public schools.

There are so many good teachers, so many (just out of school) who will do better teaching our children, but they haven't given enough in Union dues to get up the chain and keep their jobs.

Not to mention that most of these union presidents have huge houses.

  • @MrKurbsyde "Right to Work" if passed in Wisconsin will only show who is best at their jobs. F the Unions, this is our kids education you're messing with, just so you can get a bunch more money and vacations, and basically free health care.

I'm sorry, but my nieces education means more than your big house!!!

  • This song should be heard in every worker's strike in Europe these difficult days.Solidarity to every worker, unemployed, immigrant from Greece.LONG LIVE PAME and the working class of my country...

  • Scott Walker doesn't want to "kick the can" anymore; he wants the workers to carry it.

  • if this song had got even some air time on the radio it would have been the biggest song ever !!! who cant relate 2 it other then then the ppl. who have the money and power 2 push u around????

  • The worker should start working to tumble the tyranny of the fat cat.

  • @jedyondo I always imagine this big fat ugly cat on a pink chair for some reason

  • We are the 99%!

  • Dropkick-ccuppy wall street!

  • best DKM song by a mile

  • Listening to this whilst being on the dole gives me a warm feeling inside ;)

  • @mudfries the scotts hump sheep.....The Irish just get drunk and have fun...One of those is illegal...The Irish obviously have much better status in the world. Plus Ireland is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy sexier than Scott"bland"

  • unionize or die....its the best way to keep the feds off your back

  • @butch19451

Oh fuck the unions...They're counterproductive...Just because I work hard, and make you look lazy ain't no reason to penalize me. If anything, your pay should be docked, for being LESS productive.

  • @wrath1987 You sound like a Libertarian or Tea Party drone. Without unions your children would be working right next to you. You'd be living in corporate bunks and paid in company scrip. You'd work 14 hours a day and seven days a week. There would be no compensation if you were injured or killed while working. And if you tried to strike you would be beaten by police and Strike Busters. Don't be ignorant.

  • @dereekee Well said

  • @dereekee The Unions have done great things in the past, but what are they doing now?

Nobody is working 14 hours without it being their choice to.

Speaking of cops beating people, get over that, a protest is one thing a riot is completely different.

There are laws in place to make an eight hour work day mandatory and the minimum wage regulation has gone up.

There is no reason to be told that you MUST pay a third party if you don't want to.

    Union dues today are bullshit.

  • @MrKurbsyde Unions are great at promoting the person within the company who has been there longer, not that they have the skills, but just cause they have been there longer. This is why you get idiots at MATC who don't seem to know a damn thing. They don't need to, they just keep getting paid more cause they have been there longer.

Health Care is fricken awesome for them, but that money comes from us working at minimum wage at McDonalds.

    Maybe McDonalds needs a Union?

  • @MrKurbsyde All your Taxes, look at your last paycheck, all that money taken out from state is going towards these fools.

  • I guess things will never change and a large part of humanity will be the slave of the other. The only sensible thing to do is to be conscious of this and stop voting and looking at countries and presidents as what they really are: our prisons and our wardens. Remember boys: ACAB and TANSTAAFL! Keep the fight and lets hope one day we can put a damn bell to that fat bastard of a cat.

  • Gives me goosebumps to this day, 8 years later. This song makes me feel good about my tiring job that pays me barely 25k a year. LONG LIVE THE IRISH!

  • @tbowles08 Shame the song was written by an Englishman :P

  • @archonsod you are a sod know your history

  • first time i heard this song was in my government and economics class xD as soon as it came on im like..OMG! DROPKICK MURPHYS!!! and i now have an overflowing respect for mr. byrd. fuck yeah.

  • Stick that in your arse, Scott Walker you fuckin maggot.

  • what a shocking version of a great song, a scottish socialist anthem wont go down well with a lot of right wingers in the USA, but hey, I dont care care, god bless buddy holly, god bless johnny cash, god bless the American revolution and god bless the USA! all of these things have their roots in scotland, so come to newsnet scotland dot com and take part, we really need your help to break away from the british. the fight goes on! we need you in the front line.

  • @mudfries ere mate shut up !

  • @123hammie123 no.

  • @mudfries ere mate shut up

  • workers of the world united!

  • They need to have this be the song in Wisconsin. Take on that corrupt Governor. I just don't get how the people of Wisconsin could have been fooled by all these corporate republicans. It is so obvious what they are doing. It is history repeating itself.

  • its 5 am where im at, about to head out the door to start my 12 hour shift factory job i had to hear this song to set me off on my way

  • They should play this song outside the Wisconsin capitol...UNION NOW!!!

  • @Caseymb2

American unions are corrupt political machines that have nothing to do with the beneficial and requisite unions of the early 20th century. Any union activity in Wisconsin is just more of this self-serving, all-corrupting bullhockey. And before you go spouting off some white-washed idealistic ignorant nonsense about Unions And The Good They Do, I only have one word to say to you: Detroit.

    @TNJfarm

Yeah, I'm sure the land-owning, college-educated, machine-driving farmers are hurting so.

  • 8 guys are obviously fat cats.

Proud steel worker, CMC steel, Cayce, SC

  • @Lusth0g I hope you vote left

  • @Dagyo23 Well, I'm from the country which has experience with communism. Its not fair nor good political/economical system. Believe me.

  • @Life86L Voting left doesn't mean voting communism

  • @Lusth0g they hiring at CMC right now?

  • @SheisseFicken Well, let´s say: there´s always a job for good workers. Just try it.

  • This is what the world needs to hear.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid Marx was a hippie

  • @hrjert1

    I'm not a Marxist, just an anti-capitalist.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid if your anti-capitalist then at least have something to fall back on, like Marxism or communism, i just think socialism is weak,

  • Comment removed

  • @hrjert1

    I'm a free-market socialist. Marx was anti-market.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid I,m a Durdenist

  • @vaguelyhumanoid You're also a fuck up. Who ever heard of a "free-market socialist"? The point of socialism is to get RID of the market and private ownership of the means of production so that economic classes disappear. That's like saying that you're a "radical moderate," or a "gay republican," or a "black policeman," or an "honest Mexican." ...wait. Scratch that last one.

  • @jove9

That's the point of Marxism. Socialism ≠ Marxism. I'm a mutualist and a fellow traveler with the IWW.

  • @jove9 personally i think people should just make a good economic system and not worry about what "ism" it is.

  • Solidarity!!!

  • long live,all workers,death of parasits

  • The americans cant complain at all!!!!!!! You wanna see hardcore come to Namibia and South Africa in Africa and then you can see for yourself what is WORK and being screwed over and taking shit. No geverment help at all and your boss hardly makes it and no help from them and mostly hand labour as there is no machinery to help at all!!!!!!!!

  • Now I may not work in a factory or mine, but as a Walmart worker I feel like this song suits me just as well. 2 years out of high school I push carts and do 5 times as much work as the other cart pushers but I'm the one who always gets the shit for it. I love this song, makes me feel better about my job.

  • This song is awesome

  • Bieng a worker is shit but i still wouldn't the feeling i get from having a REAL job. fuck all else. 'idle hands are the devil's workshop' btw im not religious

  • BLUE COLLAR!!

  • Stop Corporate Farming Welfare subsidies NOW Save the Real Farmers Screw Corporate America They are the enemy against the working class You all better wake the F up

  • @Huntreess54

I'm sorry to say that corporate America isn't the enemy against the working class, the enemy of the working class are the leechers of the system getting their welfare check.

  • @soyoen wrong.

  • Damn straight, you tell'em girl!

  • My boss at work gets a nice fat bonus for keeping our store understaffed and nice grant for hiring some folks he knows damn well don't do anything, leaving my mates and I to pick up the pieces. The workers are working while the fat cat's about.

  • This song is ridiculously awesome.

  • what exactly does "Oi" stand for? I hear it so many times but i never found out what it really means.. could any1 tell me?

  • @stefanatutube :

From my knowledge, it seems to be like a "hey".

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @awsummrthanu well yeah its a hey ... but let me be more precise by ilustrating a situation: " Oi! be carefull that thing's dangerous " something like that xD

  • @stefanatutube Oi! is the skinhead battle cry, and a subgenre of punk rock.

    watch?v=XWLU76o5rEI

  • the real heroes are those who wake up and go to work everyday to provide for themselves and their family. Happy St Paddys Day

  • I get up every morning from mon to fri at 5am,work from 6 to 14,and my skills are no needed and always Im tell to keep up with the times with no more than my family bread....This song RULES for the WORKER like me and others in the world....Period!!!!!!!

  • The working-class the spine of our society.!

    Greets

    Cheers 'n' Oi! from Germany

  • C'MON THE WORKERS!! C'MON MURFS!!

  • Try being a farmer in today's economy thats real work there.

  • @TNJfarm The "poor farmer"? LOL I'm not sure how it is where you are but here in Indiana, the only "farmers" are huge operations. The idea of a poor farmer barely making it is long gone. All that is left are the big operations that receive rather large amounts of money because they can only produce so much each year. Yea, I feel real sorry for those bastards as they cry all the way to the bank with their government check for not growing so many acres of crop.

  • The "poor farmer" is right, where i am at, we have many poor farmers. But we also got some big operation farmers too. The poor farmers still make money just not as decent as the operational farmers. "Poor Farmers", are not long gone, farmers are a dying breed because our food is all going to hell farmers need to come back!

  • @jsgeffer101 - the "poor farmer" are the farmers crushed by the 'Huge operations' and Yes there are alot of them.

  • @jsheffer101 I live in wisconsin, and most of the midwest is the same, but here in my county (monroe) we have alot of farmers barely making it, even though they are big operations, out here they dont cheat their workers, thats why they're doin as meager as they are, either way, god bless the midwest, and **** california

  • @TNJfarm All the farmers I know make a lot more money than I do, also small farmers are kind of largely responsible for the Real estate bubble so forgive me if my sympathy is limited.

  • @TNJfarm

work is work man. true, some labour is more strenuous than others (i have few doubts factory men, miners, and farmers have soft hands) but everyone who works knows and understands those who do the same. labour solidarity my friend.

  • This is the life of the majority of the worlds population, obviously you have no idea how workes are beeing treated in most countries over the planet, and living in Ireland, how do you have the slightest idea of how it's like to be 8 and working as a fishcleaner in China or beeing a little kid in Pakistan making soccer-balls you later on kick around in your spare time. There is always someone who makes profit out of other peoples hard work.

  • And during this economic crisis we've seen just how much our employers care for us "normal people" "We don't need you anymore, fuck off, you've been busting your ass in this factory for over 10 years, never been called in sick or never turned down to work overtime but you're not needed anymore, so bye bye now"

  • i agree with ihatecivics7 about walmart worked there 2 1/2 years and they fired me

  • wana see em for free see when there tour ands and the next week bar hop in boston they play unnanuoced shows

  • hey guys, the bands don't have control over ticket prices. the simple fact is that you have to deal with greedy promoters in order to play large venues. if your band has a draw, they want every last penny they can get. don't knock the murphys because they got good enough that people want to hear them play.

  • I must agree. I have seen them twice in Austria and they have always covered the cost of the admission. I only wish they would make sure that the bars were full of beer because both times the tank ran dry.

  • Workers unite! individually the working man/woman is weak, but together, unionized, the worker is strong! more so than any government, managment, stronger than ANYTHING!

  • good song, but when you're charging $30-$40 a show can you still be a working man's band? Fugazi always played for free or charged at most $5.

  • How many working men spend $30-40 on a Friday night at the bar? People gotta make a living and these guys are no exception.

  • Just like Skinheads Music!!:D:D

  • Socialism or Barbarism!!!

  • On par with Lennon's "Working Class Hero."

Or at least it makes me think of it.

  • fuck yeah. this is the working man's band!

  • Now is the time to take back our country from the bankers and politicians-REVOLUTION NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hell yeah! Up the revolution!

  • lilgollywog, you show me where I can sign up, and I'm with ya, 100%!

  • UP LOCAL 399

  • workers united

  • AFRICKIN'MEN TO THAT BROTHER!!!! Blue collars practically built this country up to what it is.

  • lets hear it for all the people who do the shitty jobs that make everyday life possible for everyone you deserve way more credit then your given

  • @VampM80 way more credit and way more money ... :)) DKM rule!!!

  • @VampM80 Yes, I work one of the shittiest jobs out there but I work at it as if I was working for God himself, so yes, to all my brothers out there working minimum wage shit jobs and getting no credit, here you go, from Vamp.

  • @VampM80 yea!

  • I listen to this song every day when Im biking home from my shitty job and it makes me happy rock on to all the blue collard people out there

  • I hear ya there! I only wish I had a job that qualified me to listen to this song more often. I don't think working at a dollar store quite counts...sad for me.

I still love this freakin song nonetheless!

  • andrew, if you make an hourly wage, it counts. if you have a relative fighting in a far-off asian war, that counts, too. hang in there, buddy

  • Thanks man. You've got some good spirit there. Something we all need a bit more of these days. All the best to ya!

  • Hey man, were all fighting the same battles. i got laid off from my plant job and now im working for the fucking devil himself (walmart) but we do what we have to do these days... it sucks but this song is made for guys like us, blare the shit loud and proud buddy.

  • I go deaf every time I listen to this song. That's how loud I play it, and I wouldn't turn it down for anyone! Sorry to hear about that walmart shit, but hey man, at least you're out there doing work. All the best to ya!

    ~Andy~

PS: Thanks for the encouraging words.

  • you work for your money. your in the working class. this song can be as much about you as you want it to be.

  • venceremos!

  • Pannkaka är gott med jordgubbs sylt på!

  • Capitalism is shit and Communism is shit.

Much like being to far to the right or to far to the left, the best place to be is somewhere in between.

  • anarchy is the best

  • Um, you do know that means someone could kill you and nobody would do shit about it right?

  • ok... xD

  • The best place is within the working class

  • WTF their irish their loud and shitfaced drunk perfect .dont see nothing wrong here

  • DKM has a certain swagger that is hard to describe....it's great!

  • It's called Boston Swaggah.

    haha

  • jag har ätit pannkaka!

  • Tune of the century so far.

  • This is one of my favorite songs by the dropkick murphys....i love the dropkick murphys

  • i hate my boss

  • not only you ;-)

  • @14185207 me too, but I'm self-employed...

  • there is a depression now

worse than before (or atleast predicted to be)

    very appropriate song

  • I think the depression before the world wars was than one now because the unemployment rate was 14% as opposed to now being 9%. However, the number of people unemployed right now is greater than it was back then because of the larger population.

  • btw the Great Depression was between the two world wars

  • Oops, thanks for the correction.

  • An awesome song, always makes think how lucky I am that I never had to go through the great depression like my Granddad did. He went through the depression and Korea, and still living. Working Class Pride!

  • The workers should be proud of their work and keep on working, there is the pride and the love. We all share the same hopes and dissapointments and that is what binds us together - no matter what your background is. Keep rocking brothers and don't take crap from nobody.

  • "We're the first ones to starve

We're the first ones to die

The first ones in line for that pie in the sky

And we're always the last when the cream is shared out

For the worker is working when the fat cat's about !" - Hell Yeah!!! Let´s Go Murphys!!!

  • Enjoy equally distributing poverty. Socialism, and capitalism is a lie. Just live.

  • Yeah right because capitalism does not harm and does not produce poverty. The lie is the USA capitalist system people here are not well at all. Where is the lie look around.

  • Well, since you totally misinterpreted my comment, I'm going to have to bury you now. So sad.

Under capitalism, if you work hard enough, and make the right moves, you can make a decent living for yourself, unlike socialism, which is just the equal distribution of poverty. Both systems as they stand now are flawed. But at least one takes human nature and the need for more into consideration. The other just exists on paper, like all the other fairy tales you read as a child. Open your eyes.

  • Well, I'm not a capitalist at all, but the one decent thing capatilism gave us was social mobility, which is something to be thankful for.

  • where did you see the social mobility??

  • actually, i'm pretty good.

  • your ass just got owned

  • this is my second favorite murphys song. my first has got to be sunshine high-way

  • i like the song dirty glass. and masetausetts or however the hell u spell it

  • i didnt do this after reading this, and omg i appear to still be alive. omg im so suprised im not dead.

  • i hear ya brother

  • They should make a video of the feds marching scumbags like Madoff out of his penthouse apartment and into the jail done to the tune of this song.

I may punch a clock but I'm sleeping in my own bed tonight motherfucker....lol.

  • lawl i love when people call eachother names on youtube.... theres always some new insult to read every time you turn around =3

  • Dropkick murphys kick ass, as a drunk ass Irish WORKING man we need to stand up and show them fucking fat cats who really run this world!!!!!!!

  • right on dookie

  • Amen to that 00Buch.

A Balance to life must always exist.

Some one will always have less, when some one always has more, nothing can ever be done to change that, nor should.

We are the boss, we hand out the pay checks and the government (Our Employees) had better start listening, cause they don't have enough soldiers to arrest all of us when we hand out their wages to who we feel really need it .

I'm blunt, but it makes sense.

  • You know what i think? I think every single worker should just lay off work for 1 single day..

Showing the rest of the world what happens when that happens;)

  • lol aint life a bitch?

  • And besides mate, this song isnt a pro socialist ideal, its talking about the working class conditions, from the industrial revolution in Britain to the mistreatment of the irish.

  • yes, the point is this song is fuckin great, I think we all can agree about that

  • everyone just stop arguing and enjoy the damn song. seriously, no one gives a shit about your stupid arguements. so just stop it.

  • well ok, but i was really saying this to ZealotKommunizma who seems to think this songs about commies

  • Not about communism but about workers and communism is about workers.

  • Communism my arse....

    its a good fucking song

  • i dont fucking care if this song is about communism, its still my favourite

  • well id say its just showing some respect to the little guys

    not really about communism.

  • Little guys... how pejorative.

  • god eat a dick

no one wants to hear your shit, seriously

  • I don't think you're entitled to speak for everyone else =) On a side note, if you were to keep congruent with yourself you'd simply dismiss my comment instead of replying to it.

  • ok.

eat a dick and shut up, because your annoying. dont preach on youtube, because people only want to watch music videos or watch videos of people doing dumb shit.

    simple.
