  • Love this song, its a shame that some music almost gets lost in the mists of time but good stuff always shines through

  • WHAT??? No way. I can't believe this was directed by Sam Raimi. I know I have this CD somewhere. I met the singer one night ...1989...when I won an impromptu wet t-shirt contest at a bar they were playing in the midwest... cute southern accent... lots o' fun. I think I won tickets to see Guns n Roses or something, which worked out okay bec I was competing against two gay guys, who could have cared less!!!! Went off to some other bars with Joe and a guy named Cornutt. Thanks 4 posting!

  • I'm trying to find this album. I loved it and I had it on tape, but of course I don't have a tape player anymore. Any ideas?

  • A great group from Nashville. I have both CDs they made. Listen to them often. Drew, are you out there???

  • Man I just went thru' a timeslip and my heart lit up - loved this fucking song. I remember a different video tho' with tanks and soldiers and stuff or was that another one of yours?

  • Post More Joe; Please....

  • love the songs these guys made.

  • LOL gotta love the bugle call via guitar haha. Yay so glad to see these guys again. Their music is awesome. Aaahhh memories. :)

  • Without question one of my favorite albums. My CD was destroyed, and I've searched EBAY for a new one..but to no avail. I'll keep searching. Again, Joe, your voice is the most unique and distinguishable voice of all the music I owned. Thanks again for making the record.

  • I still love this song and consider RCOC among the very finest sounds to ever emerge from Nashville.

  • this tune rocks joe, great video i dont care what buck says just kidn

  • I never thought I would see this video. I'm from the Philippines but ROCC were one of my favorite bands. I wore my tape out! I was luck enough to find the CD of Geared and Primed. My brother who doesn't like rock used to hum the guitar solo of "Half the Truth"! I have the first CD but Geared and Primed is my favorite. Thanks for the music Joe! I listen to your stuff regularly up to now. Reminds me of my college days. Back then nobody could dig my music - they still can't!

  • I remember seeing Royal Court Of China in Baltimore a few times. They were way cooler & original than the crap around then. Their music stands the test of time. I remember the red headed guitar player would be shit faced and the singer Joe would say funny shit like, "I'm actually Linda Blair in drag" They would mic these Fender? amps anywhere on stage and literally leap over them while they were playing. It cracked me up. They didnt give a shit. A lot of energy, they kicked ass.

  • Dude...that's the BEST review we've ever had! Thanks...sniff. Joe

  • I think ROCC was ahead of it's time. Like a metallic spaceship from planet Tennessee that crashed in 80's hair band hell. But ROCC were original & different, they didn't fall for lame cliches that other bands from their genre did. The music had an edge & an irresistible twang to it, but most of all it rocked in a way that both Angus Young & Eddie Cochran could appreciate.

  • There was so much crappy music back then that does not withstand the test of time. Warrant anyone? BARF!! ROCC is still is as relevant today as it was then.

I can thank ROCC for my easy transition into Reverend Horton, The Legendary Shack Shackers, Nashville Pussy, Social Distortion & Hillbilly Casino. Go see one of those shows today and tell me ROCC is not a stones throw away?

  • Thanks for the music Joe...please carry it on to the next level. Breathe new life into it in a different yet unexplored way. Best Wishes...I'm all ears.

  • fark... I meant RCOC not ROCC in the posts below

  • "Geared & Primed" was a full on kick ass rock album! Still one of my faves to this day. I own the CD, cassette, and the vinyl. "Half the Truth" and "Six Empty Bottles" are just a couple of my favorite songs from this classic!

  • I LOVE this video! It reminds me of The Cult!

  • Is this song about me?

  • There's a vintage Geared & Primed Concert T-shirt on Ebay right now. Hope some fan will see it. Love this group...

  • Another fine video. Thanks Joe for sharing these great moments in music with us. RCOC always made excellent albums, I hope Off The Beat`n Path is released on CD someday.

  • Joe, you guys were & are fantastic! I still crank out Geared & Primed, since it's on the iPod. Loved the debut LP as well. I'd love to hear some new stuff.

  • GREAT! Between these guys and the SEA HAGS, it's a toss-up on which was the winner in most under-rated band of the era of crap. Royal Court of China rocked from the heart, and it shows.

  • Always loved this song. Is it true that you wrote it for your A&R rep? If so, that makes it even better...

    Thanks for posting the video.

  • doorman2! Thanks so much for sharing!!! Awesome stuff... I had no idea these 2 had done a music video and you must have been stoked to have these 2 legends behind ya! What was it like working with them?

By the way... I dig the tune! Reminds me of Disneyland After Dark (DAD) in their 'Bad Craziness' era, others on heavyharmonies.com liken your album to INXS and stuff if you haven't seen. Appaling band name too sorry!!! What have you been doing since?

  • I wonder if one of those cars is Raimi's famous "Classic" (aka: his 1973 Oldsmobile Delta Royale 88 that he puts in every movie). That one to the right of the main platform kinda looks like it :-P

  • Holy crap, are you serious?

Was this really done by Raimi and Campbell?

If so, this is hilarious and thanks for posting.

I guess they had to do something to keep working between films!

  • Yep, They were great to work with. They actually shot some cool horror stuff that A&M didn't let them add because of budget constrictions. They also did Iggy Pop's Cold Metal video. They only produced 2 music videos. Sam had just sold Evil Dead II to some company and they were in between films. I'm Joe (Royal Court singer) btw.

  • That's very cool. If you hadn't shared this - I doubt I would've ever seen it. Thanks for the inside info!

  • Yo Joe .. nice video and Axe .. Kewl things here Butt wear is 'It's all Changed' from yer debut album .. I remember that video and it's Why I have yor Album still today and listen to it Often ... Ever rub elbows w/ Jason and the Scorchers ... ? kewl Have a nice one .
