You cant be "Evil" and there is no morality bar. that is based on the opinions and beliefs of your party members for example if someone has done something mildly bad and you choose to kill him one party member might even turn on you and fight you on the spot because it goes against their own morals and beliefs.... i think this is a great idea but if I'm brutally honest i love having a morality bar to tell me I'm a total evil bastard xD, but it will be interesting none the same.
that was one of the best parts of kotor (the morality bar) seeing it all red, and then knowing that you are the most bad ass man to ever walk the surface of the earth is a great feeling...
but the way they do this one... it will make morality even more important to the story. and you will have to go off of instinct, and what everyone around you thinks.
indeed, this game isn't realy about being good or evil, cause even if you go with the "evil" way of completing a quest, you will still get the job done.
i think it all depends on the player who plays this game.
and for anyone who is going to play this one for the first time, don't keep quick saving and loading it just because you think you have done something in the wrong way, you will still finish the game whatever you choose.
nah not realy a problem at all, i killed Zevran and didn't release Sten on my first walkthrough. But in your defense i guess you already knew wich people you could get as your teammates. i myself have tried not too look into any info that was released for the game before i had completed it at least once, so i didn't realy knew they could join me as teammates.
i made that mastake on my first character 2 lol, i didn ot get liliana or sten and then i killed the gay elf becaue he turned on me and i could not do anything about it :/ on another save of another character i killed shale by attacking the golem in anvil of the void and killed liliana by putting blood in the sacred ashes, not the best things lol

Having followed this one since its announcement back in 2004 and been active on the BioWare forums, I can confidently say that DA:O isn't going to be a "bad copy" of anything. If you enjoyed Baldur's Gate, then you'll enjoy this offering as well. If you're looking for a shooter or shallow, action-gamer type cRPG, then please look elsewhere. BioWare cRPGs are story and character driven, not Diabloesque hack 'n' slash fests.
