  • Amazing!

  • 10:40 @_@

  • Hey Betty I made this cake for my family we used rum xxxx

  • How many servings do you think you'll get out of the cake?

  • @mddwwie The servings should be very small. If you cut the cake into halves and then into fourths, I think you can get 6 generous pieces from each fourth=24 generous pieces altogether.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, just like the Black Forest that you made this past Thanksgiving, I had to wait to see you cut it. I hope you will make a quick video to show us how this spectacular creation looks when you serve it on Christmas. Really enjoyed watching every step of how this cake is made.

  • @reichardtaj I will show the cut cake when I upload my Christmas table video (which will be in a few days).

    --Betty :)

  • This looks wonderful! I made fruitcake this year but will definitely make this recipe next Christmas.

  • What a beautiful blouse Betty! You are really ready for the Holidays! The cake looks wonderful! I love fruitcake especially soaked in bourbon! A very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  • Betty, this cake and recipe are amazing, one day I'd like to be brave enough to make it!

Looks lighter than normal fruit Christmas cake, delicious :)

  • Simply stunning.

  • Makes me want to visit Kentucky :)

  • I have been looking for a fruitcake-type cake to bake for Christmas, Of course I find my answer in betty's kitchen! I was wondering, do you think rum would be suitable to use instead of bourbon, or do I have to make a trip to the liquor store? THanks for a wonderful recipe, Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

  • @karlalana Rum will be fine! Merry Christmas!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, would you PLEASE take a video of the cake when you slice into it. I am really curious to see how a slice looks.

    I think others would too.

God Bless I love your channel.

  • Oh boy! This was exciting to watch! I am so tempted to make this....... I love historic recipes and this will certainly keep for weeks...... how could you tempt me like this???? :) Merry Christmas to you and all the family.

  • @Patsymd Thanks for your lovely comment! Merry Christmas to you and yours,

    --Betty :)

  • Wow, that looks spectacular! I can feel the pounds added to my hips just by looking at it! :-) Great job, Betty!

  • Wow! That sure looked like a lot of work, but it produced beautiful results! Great job, Miss Betty :)

  • I sure couldn't wait an hour to let it cool, might just dig in right out of the oven because it looks sooo delicious!

  • I'll take the extra one! :D looks sooo good!

  • Betty,

Are the candied cherries the same thing as Maraschino cherries or are they actual candy? Also can I use regular raisins if I can't find the golden variety?

Oh, I also think this is a type of Fruit Cake, but I could be wrong. :-)

    ~ Bee

  • @bee5120 Hi Bee,

Yes, this is a type of fruit cake. You may use regular raisins. The cherries are candied, not maraschino cherries. There is much more sugar in them, and they are somewhat like candy. Maraschino cherries will not give the same effect.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks Betty. I'll try to look for them candied cherries in my area :-)

    ~ Bee

  • you are simply adorable and you are the kind of person that represents a healthy person who eats what they want! Love it! :D My kind of lady! ^_^

  • Hi Betty and Rick! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes over the years! I always look to your videos for inspiration and recipes that I want to try out. ;)

  • Ymmmm.....lookin' great my dear Betty,....Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Cake for CHRISTMAS Dinner!!!! Thumbs to ya dear Betty and thankin' ya for the COOL UPLOAD!!! = )

  • your blouse is beautiful. love this recipe betty!!!!

  • This makes me miss my mom's rum soaked cake... She hasn't made it in forever..

  • If you really want to give that cake away....I'll give you my address.....wink wink

  • That looks delicious. But with the price of all that butter, bourbon, pecans and cherries, I bet that is at least a $20.00 cake. I guess its worth it for the holidays. Thanks for sharing Betty !

  • @MsChopperdog It is an expensive cake to make. However, if you ordered a piece of this cake at a nice restaurant, it would probably cost $7.50 to $10.00, and you would get a slice that is very thin. So, in comparison, it is a bargain if you make your own! Rick and I will eat a small piece and give the rest away, and we only make this cake at Christmas.

    --Betty :)

  • this recipe is simular to jamaican rum and fruit cake you should give that a try

  • So it's basically a fruit cake right? Looks yummy!

  • I will have to try this is some day soon.

  • but will the Fuhrer like it

  • BRAVO!

  • Is there anything I can use instead of bourbon? I would really like to make this for my family but they aren't a big fan of alcohol. Also is there a frosting or icing to go along with the cake or does it not need it? - Lexi

  • @lefty43090 i would say buttwr icing likw carrot cakes usually have

  • @lefty43090 You may substitute 2 cups of orange juice in place of the bourbon, but then you can't call it bourbon pecan cake--maybe orange pecan cake. The cake I made needs no icing, but if you leave out the bourbon, I would suggest a sugar glaze icing.

    --Betty :)

  • Gsh that cake would be so moist.. I can't save anymore of your videos as I've reached the max of 200 :-(

  • Yum

  • your nails are so pretty :-)

  • Betty did ya leave it on the plate?? Do you stick it in the freezer for two weeks or on a counter

  • @rabbott3253 I put it in a sealed "cake keeper" on the counter. It will "cure" and be fresh and moist for several weeks.

    --Betty :)

  • Delicious! I should make this for Christmas and bring it down to the family.

  • lots of work, but looks well worth it, think i will try it this year, thank you for your channel Betty, I enjoy watching you. Peace and love.

  • Wow !Betty,

    A lot of work,but I'm sure it's worth it.Thanks.

    God Bless,

    Elba

  • This is a spectacular cake that just screams Christmas! It takes me back at least 50 years when mothers, grandmothers, etc. made these cakes every year and decorated them beautifully. It definitely says Kentucky too! Thank you for making this and showing people that homemade is always better than anything from a box. Enjoy it! Barb

  • @wildheart5 Thanks for your lovely comment, Barb!

    --Betty :)

  • Will there be a frosting? :)

  • @EveSWzGame No, this cake does not need frosting.

    --Betty :)

  • This will be my christmas cake for next year definaly.

  • Is there a non-alcoholic substitute for the bourbon?x

  • @Thevickystv1 The alcohol will evaporate off as the cake is cooked.

  • @Thevickystv1 You may substitute 2 cups of orange juice in place of the bourbon, but then you can't call it bourbon pecan cake--maybe orange pecan cake. The cake I made needs no icing, but if you leave out the bourbon, I would suggest a sugar glaze icing.

    --Betty :)

  • I will have to try this.

  • Looks wonderful!

  • Betty, now that you've gotten to over 1000 recipes, do you ever struggle to find a new recipe to show us? :)

  • @ChainsawJulietx No, I have a list that will fill at least next year--just waiting for the right time to make each one!

    --Betty :)

  • very nice but a lil too complicated for me*lol* ima just stick too the ice cream sandwich cake to make for my christmas dessert.im n florida and it's always warm on christmas so it'll be an appropriate dessert for here :)

  • what can i use instead of bourban?

  • @clbosa You may substitute 2 cups of orange juice in place of the bourbon, but then you can't call it bourbon pecan cake--maybe orange pecan cake. The cake I made needs no icing, but if you leave out the bourbon, I would suggest a sugar glaze icing.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen HI Betty, just wanna ask if u think apple juice would make a nice substitute for the Bourbon, will that make a nice tasting cake?

  • Wow, that looks amazing! Could you fedex me a piece when you cut it? That is a serious cake, great job on all those flips you did. I wasn't worried for a second. :-)

  • Your cake looks delicious!

  • @lynnsrecipes Thanks, Lynn, for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Awesome. I bought this bourbon during Thanksgiving and was unsure what to do with it. I think I'll either make this cake or a bread pudding with Bourbon sauce.

  • Thanks Betty, Now that is a recipe and process we don't get to see everyday...especially up here in New York. I have a bottle of burbon that's been hanging around for about 20 yrs; I think I just found a great use for it!

  • @thedeliria I have two recipes for bourbon balls--both great! We love them!

    --Betty :)

  • arr the way into a mans heart is through his stomach lol

  • Betty...you're terrific! This looks delicious. :)

  • Perfect! I recently made a chocolate bourbon bundt cake using Maker's Mark and have about half the bottle left. Now I know exactly what to make to use up the rest.
