  • what song is this?

  • Would just normal clay work for this? I have like.. Crayola clay will that work for this too?

  • If you don't mind me asking..

How light weight are these? Do you simply glue the fur other it? and how strong is this material?

  • any tips for a first time fursuit maker? I'm gonna get resin this weekend and do my sculpt this summer. Will this work with any character?

  • Comment removed

  • so, how much does the head weigh when your done? if you dont know is it a big difference of weigh down on the front of your head?

  • I bought some of that kind of clay you are using and I think it looks small....how many packs are you using for this?

  • omg,it's cute

  • at 12:37 the white bit on the brige of the nose it looks like that mod rock stuff but im not sure is it that or somthing eles. also will you be doing a tutorial for the rest of the face?

  • @PieageInATinPro The face is resin and no because there are many tutorials already out there on casting resin masks.

  • The best bear/panda suit I ever saw ! what is the size of these eyes?

  • okay I take back the foam comment, I hadn't seen the whole vid.

I'm pretty sure that's just clay, and it's a base for slush casting resin.... I could be off though... I can't tell from the images.

Because yeah if that wasn't a resin shell it could be pretty heavy.

  • @TheRazorKitten The sculpt is clay and the mask will be slush cast resin (a thin resin shell like a masquerade mask) and then padded out with carved foam for comfort inside and to form the rest of the head/ features specific to the character or species.

  • Can I ask what type of clay you're using?

  • @DDofCourage Just pottery clay I bought at Michaels. Resin heads are not detailed enough for the type of clay to really matter.

  • @Beetle91 would terracotta be a bad idea?

  • that took you an hour!?!?!? mine took me four hours to make >.<!

  • @tiny1badger This part took me an hour. 4 hours sounds about right to make it ready for casting. Refining the features and symmetry take the most time.

  • Not just scuplting, but ambidextrous scuplting!

  • How do you do the rest??? This bit looks like the easiest part.

  • @Goldenbird94 You have it backwards. Sculpting is the most difficult part, since this must be done correctly to make a good cast. Did you miss the text at 12:24 stating there are still hours of work left to do? Symmetry of complex shapes like faces and muzzles is NOT easy to achieve. The resin base will be covered in foam and fur, so the sculpt must factor this in and also remain in scale with the rest of the costume. Very few artists can do this well in my opinion.

  • @Myknaki Oh I know that's hard. It took me a while to get my foam carved out right for the Kyuubi and Ammy fursuits I'm making at the moment. I nearly started tearing my hair out I was that frustrated!!

  • @Myknaki Why would you have to leave room for foam? Couldn't you just make the head out of resin?

  • @Goldenbird94 Too heavy/fragile.

  • @DDofCourage

Heads are regularly made out of resin. Resin is not heavy at all.

  • @TheRazorKitten I thought he meant like, solid resin though, without a foam base, wouldn't that be heavy?

  • @DDofCourage

    replied above you :D

  • @Myknaki

foam? Where would they use foam? I've never seen a resin mask padded with foam, they're just straight furred.

  • Love it love it :D Thanks for uploading. I'm already a fursuit maker, but only with foam. But from not on I'll make my masks that way. And this video helps a lot, how to sculpt the head. Thanks again :D

  • Thank you for this video, It's actually a great help to see how molding is done, see I'm trying to make my own fursuit, so I've been looking up alot of Tutorials, this is a great help. So thank you so much for shearing it. ^_^

  • 12:30 Wow~ :-o

ohoh, this is very nice fursuit~! X3

  • Thx it will help me alot :D!!!

  • Nice :D

  • I've been looking everywhere for a life-sized mannequin. I can't find one anywhere.

  • @sixoclocksinner go onto ebay and just type in male or female mannequin head

  • @furrypridedonthide I have, I see some, but it's those stupid wig ones, which aren't the size of a normal person's head, and can't be used for things like this.

  • Bravo!!! LOVE it!

  • Heh you beat me to it, I was going to make a video like this at one point, but hey, this works out better than I would have done. :D

  • Oh hey, a use for those cheap "de-tangling" combs with the rolling teeth!

Awesome video, Beetle. Thank you. :3

  • But how do you wear it?

  • @JillnRe She used the clay sculpt to make a mold for a resin mask. Read the very beginning of the video.

  • your amazing beetle!

  • the clay is in the mask? is it the clay that drys? and epic 030

  • @inuyashafantiger the clay isn't in the mask. she explained in the video that she makes a resin copy of it.

  • @amychaogirl oh 030

  • Love it from start to finish! Thanks for sharing your process!

  • wouldnt this make the mask really heavy?

  • @fallenangel12111 she uses the sculpture to make a mould and cast a lighter version that you can wear without falling over or breaking your mask :3

  • @fallenangel12111 she also tells you this at the start of the video :D

  • @fallenangel12111 If you read the beginning, it says the uses the clay to make a mold, then uses that mold to make a light weight cast replica. :P

  • You are so awesome i will 100% use this tip for my fursuit ! ^^ nice job!

  • Awesome video Id Love for ya to mabye Do Some Work For My Suit :)
