@BF33210 he wrote Bleeks part on Coming of Age only because he was tellin their story but he did not write this right here 4 Bleek the reason Jay was gon retire was because he didnt know Bleek had flow like this. This song is how Coming Of Age came about. If you listen 2 Coming of Age you can tell Bleek was spittin his own shit Bleek has flow cant sleep on him
@Jstirt true son, the verse for coming of age was written by jay for shyheim, but jay couldnt get in contact wit him so he let the kid bleek get on it. thats the only time bleek used a verse that wasnt his.
i respect a good bit of his work, mostly the early shit, but hes defly a sell out now. especially wen u look at his big business mentality; big business hurts anyone whose poor or unrepresented and so anyone truly for the streets/ppl would stay underground. unless hes giving revolutionaries guns or feeding children that i dont kno about.
memphis bleek doesnt get enough credit for this track cause most people skip this track becaus it takes so long to get started but damnn.... "im splittin dutches with my ring finger you find a bitch that owe me cream bring her"
no way i like the intro, streets is watching, friend or foe, rap/crack game, where im from, you must love me but the other 6-7 songs on that album are not great songs some are terrible, but then again i dont like every song on american gangster or black album but he is real nice on some songs on there. I only really listen to bleprint and reasonable doubt over and over
I'm not a real big fan of Jay. I think that he is a sell out and was overrated to begin with. Between this album and Reasonable Doubt, he had like 15 decent tracks. He's far from a legend. Not as lyrical as he gets credit for. This intro was pretty good tho. Sounds like a Primo beat.
15 decent tracks? you probably don't know what he is talking about in his songs you or just a dumbfuck. you just sound stupid making ignorant ass statements like that.
Exactly! Don't forget Big L, Canibus, GZA, Immortal Techniaue, AZ, Lord Finesse, Vinnie Paz, OnBeLo, Kool G Rap etc.But hey, we all have our own opinions.
well my opinion is that all that you have named here are lyrical genius's (especially -AZ -NAS -GZA -LORD FINESSE) but aint none of the them still fuckin with HOV....sorry dude
yeah BIG L could spit. i heard him and jay-z on a freestyle song together back in '96. BIG L is a rap legend, but do you honestly think he had as much charisma as jay?
That freestyel was '95. And yes I do, even thjo charisma is used by a lot of rappers to cover up their lack of skill. You can't say that Jay-Z was more lyrical than L.
they were on the same level, but since L died jay actually stepped hes lyrical skills up higher than L ever did. i know jay is all commercial and shit now, but the boy's word-play PLUS charisma is unmatched.
yeah your right. big l's freestyle was killing jay's shit no doubt about it. but I said after BIG L died jay stepped his lyrics up way better than BIG L ever did. im not trying to diss BIG L'S legacy BUT im saying jay has more charisma(diversity) and his word-play is more intricate than BIG L'S....and biggie's and pac's. jay-z is the man dude
I don't think that Jay-Z has ever been nice, but if he was than it was while he was with L and maybe Biggie. His shit is wack. He doesn't even make sense all of the time. And he sold out a bit.Nas wrecked him with Ether and L would make Jay look foolish in a battle. And you can't deny that he steals rhymes from everybody.
he has so many lines that there is no need to even show. because you just have to LISTEN to jay. POINT BLANK......oh and you said just his fans say that well, jay has ALOT of those(fans)
Yes in this case you have to give me an example. If you want to prove your point you should be able to give me just ONE example.A song, line anything if he has so many.
jay was very young and his style wasnt the most mature and lyrical its been at that point.. so actually thats a horrible example.
thats not even relavent thats like saying whos better mike tyson in his prime or clay when he first started his carrer it makes no sense.. im not sayin that L wasnt a better rapper then jay was im saying that jay is much more diverse and uses word play much better then before. plus jay has never been a freestyler..
No way son.The only reason that people say that Jay is better than L is beacuse he has more commercial success. And don't forget that if it wasn't for Big L there would be no Jay-Z.Before Jay met up with Biggie nobody in their right mind would say that Jay was seeing L.Some people are just brainwashed.
lol im lookin at your debate with ewf and it was very interesting and both of you made excelant points and opinions but....
when you call jay a clown thats way out of line because even if you dont like his material you still have to respect him. and if you dont respect him then if you take the time to see the ppl that you respect respected him (B.I.G, Big L,etc...
I love Big L and Biggie as artists, that doesn't mean that I would agree with their personal opinions. Why should I respect somebody who steals rhymes from talented artist (even dead ones who he claimed to be down with), pushes materialism, and has contributed in turning hip-hop into a business instead of an art?He doesn't represent hip-hop like an artist of his stature should. He is a sell-out!
@KrfNYC I agree, I was never "blown away" by Jay-z but he did sell out. His old stuff was really good and his flow was flawless but his lyrics could not hang with the likes of Big L, Nas, GZA, etc. Far too many people make Jay's lyrics out to be complex because they compare it to other commercial rappers like Wayne and T.I.. But when you compare Jay's lyrics to Nas, Big L, and Big Pun then you will see that Jay doesn't hold a candle.
Sauce's verse on "Bring It On" was tough, but his verse on "Reservoir Dogs" is very good as well so it's kind of a tie between the two. I really don't know what happened to Sauce.
Man I'm tryna come up on ya'll, get one up on ya'll, thats why I hussle on these streets from sundown to sun up on ya'll. Camon hip hop, lets bring it back to 96-98
I kinda noticed that as well. Bleek is solid but I think he needs a big album like Jay had with "Reasonable Doubt" to really entrench himself as the best in rap today, which isn't as much of a compliment as it used to be or should be.
I couldn't agree more. I always thought Bleek had & still has talent but he doesn't bring that heat all the time like he should. The sooner he can become consistent, I don't think he'll be better or be Jay but he'll be damn close.
