  • didnt know that thankx for sharing

  • What the name of the music?

  • Hello dear 'Pablo'! Thanks for sharing this incredible video on Kabuki theatre. I have visited your page on Youtube and listened to that beatiful song by that french singer of 60´s. Thanks!

  • You should make all Font purple or blue or something! I can't read anything and this is annoying.

    Other than that, good job.

  • @AaronChieu18 , it was my first video, so don't be so sharp at the moment of giving stars, anyway thanks!

  • It is very hard to read the text and there is often too much text at once. It disappears before I can finish reading it. But great information! I used this for a class.

  • So kabuki is the Japanese equivalent of Shakespeare historically?

  • I suppose you could say that, yes, in a lot of ways they're similar - the use of stylised language, for example. Just as we might find it somewhat hard to follow the English of a Shakespeare play, modern Japanese people normally also find the language of Kabuki to be very formal and old.

The powerful exploration of the human condition, mixed with moments of light humour in Kabuki is reminiscent of Shakespeare as well - in fact, many Kabuki actors and directors have staged Shakespeare plays.

  • its really difficult to read the text because youve but the images behind it...

  • placed into my playlist of Ukiyo-e, thanks

  • The technical quality of this clip is not very good.

  • I encourage you to make your own video, some of us are only amateurs... this video has the sole intention to inform, not to show abilities

  • Arigato gozaimasu...

    Hokashino

  • Good video -- the titles do need some work, however well done all the same.

One note: The narrator on the final film segment makes one error when he states that only the audiences have changed in the last 400 years. Actually, during WWII there were many new Kabuki plays written and produced. Called "Overnight Pickle Plays" they mostly dealt with the war in China & the Pacific. See James R Brandon's new book: Kabuki's Lost War -- fascinating history of this amazing theatrical art form.

  • That's right my good friend! Thanks for the extra information!

  • hey dudes! wasn't expecting ur comments hehe, thanx 4 all of 'em

  • Thanks for making and uploading this video. Very informative and entertaining ^^ :)

  • The aragoto actor was amazing! I love aragoto (and onnagata, of course)!

  • grat video....it could be wonderfull to see this grat show at the scala in milan???...why not?! i hope one day...

  • THis would be 5 stars instead of 4 stars--if the comments were staggered between the pictures, or if the captions were BELOW the beautiful pictures so they did not interfere with them.

Otherwise, this was very well done !! Thank you for sharing this experience with us.

  • just thought info was more important... specially bcos I wanted to cut wrong concepts. Images are extremely easy 2 get

  • This Is Your First Video? It Looks Like You've Been Working On Videos For Years!!!!!

  • Oh thank you very much!! Actually I made many mistakes when writing all the foot notes!
