I think the less is more talking about music. this song played by chopin says what it was made for, doesn't need extra chords or arpeggios, but any way each person thinks in a way.
I'd have to agree with Seabrain. Yeah he's amazing technically, but I too think he's embellished it a little too much, to the point where he's basically showing off. One thing I was taught as a musician was to play for the MUSIC, not to show how good how you are. But if you're as good as he is, why not show it off I guess. But it sort of just becomes a sea of noise, and the melody is drowning in it. I think a good piece of music needs space, and he's not giving it any room to breathe as such.
well, I don't know, . . . I used to play Bach's chorales on the accordion. On one of them he left this note: "Play the words!", as encouragement to the performers to get inspired about the whole thing. I think England does all right--the largest part of those who add and embellish, just can't do it very well, at all.
I'm glad when you say "the largest part" you seem not to include England. I think he plays the words and I disagree that the original melody is lost or unrecognizable as seabrain stated.
you are not to this planet :D ^^ joke:) but wooww adornos bonitos :D re mi fa(8) lalalalalala ohhhhh beautifull lalalalalala yes man that's wonderfull what i'm gonna thing about it jah? WELL DONE! :D
I think you're right. I can't imagine that the greats didn't play as well as today's greats. I think what they were able to play as opposed to how many notes they put on paper were two different things.
Agree, its romantic piano (from the romanticism) ... interpreters should NOT play it like it was written.. that's the difference between playing a Beethoven piece or a Chopin piece
I'm glad you agree. Some people seem to feel insulted that anyone would dare to add their own style to the masterpiece compositions of the greats. My opinion is that the greats played it with a lot more style than they may have put on paper.
I see what you're saying, however... as someone who listens to a lot of classical music, there is such a thing as embellishing a piece TOO much. I mean, this version of Chopin's piece is just too over-the-top for me. Sure it's impressive, but the over-embellishments distract me from being able to notice the original melody, and being able recognize the melody is one of the most important things about a piece like this. Embellishments are great, but this is just too over-done, in my opinion.

I totally agree. I think he would have loved it in his time and would be flattered. Nowadays he would have sued.

I don't think so....

You don't think he would have been flattered or you don't think he would sue today?

Apparently Chopin used to play this piece with much more ornaments and trills etc. maybe it might be like this?

this interpretation is too strong and loud for me. it's almost like the pianist is not trying to feel the music. he is still talented.

That's what I like about it, is the personality he puts into it. Anybody who plays can play it according to the black notes on the page. BOR-ing!

You clearly do not understand romanticism.
jero13595 3 years ago
I don't think you even understand classical music.
jero13595 3 years ago
But even if he doesn't play it the orthodox way, it's not bad for a man who doesn't read music and figured it out by ear.

Excellent I enjoyed listening. I think you played more notes in the piece than Liberace
