i do this with my dad here in wisconsin and we go in early in the morning and set the snares on the rabbit trails and then we kick brushpiles with our bows in hand if one doesnt go down the trails and get snared we shoot it and if they are still alive in our snares we just club them over the head
snaring is illegal in most places and should only be used in survival situations and mickey the rabbits died because the wire tightens and chokes them
@whitecedr It's legal in most places actually with permission from the landowner .. Also if you have to leave your phone number and adress incase a dog gets caught in the snare as you can be prosecuted for this ;/
Why do the rabbits go through the loop anyways? what is it made of and how does it work? like a noose? Do you have a vid or link on how to make the wire part of the snare?
@310shadow310 Well, pretty much its easy how it works, the by setting the trap in a frequented rabbit trail, they simply walk by it and their heads go in first and as the rabbit walks, the loop tightens on its neck those catching it. Mostly they end up suffocating due to the rabbits persistence of wanting to pull free...
i never catch im only 12 years old but love to hunt i have 2 air rifles a 177 and a 22 but when i dont have a parent with me i obviously shouldnt take my gun and so then go and snare but never seem to catch do you know what im dong wrong ???
I made a snare with steel & on the next day I saw my snare broken & there was foot steps from a wild hare so if you tie your rope or string with the snare to a softer branch it is harder for a rabbit or hare to get away ! trust me it works :)
what should i do if say, i check it and theres a badger stuck in the snare and still alive? i dont really want to release if because they have VERY nasty bites and also i do not own any airgun or firearm
@simengrs step on the rabbit and pull the snare as hard as you can for about ten-15 seconds to completely cut off blood flow to their head.....its easy cuz the rabbits will be very close to going unconcious...sounds pretty sick but its a lot better than twisting its head around or snapping its neck which takes lots of practice before you can kill them instantly.......if you have a .22 or .17 shoot em in the head
@simengrs Rather than a pellet gun if you grab the back legs and bend the body back and yank on the neck it will break it and humanley kill it .. Or you can karate chop it to the back of the kneck which does the same job :/ haha !
@simengrs if you have a pocket knife take the tip of the blade and place it just between were the skull attaches to the spine and push down as hard as you can this severes the spine from the skull and is nearely painless
i live in a good neighborhood, but we got tons of rabbits allaround. is it legal to trap them or not? i would eat them. because theres this one that's huge.

@Juiroame snarring is a lot more effective in winter especially where there is lots of snow.....here in northern ontario we have about 4-5 feet in the bush so all of the rabbits use the same handful of trails....set in the morning(so your scent can disapear before night when the rabbits are active) after 1-2 consecutive nights of no snow that follow a day/night of a few inches of snow(so they have a night or two to run around and leave behind tracks of their travel trails)...let sit overnight

@ditzyblonde007 Hit it, very hard, in the back of the neck or head with a thick stick. It seems rather crude, but believe me, it's instant if you hit them hard enough.
Nice vid but I prefer trapping with a cage kind of set up. This is because you can put water in it so if you don't want to kill and eat it, you can simply relocate it or set it back where you trapped it.
hey northernpike, ive trapped rabbits since i was a young boy but now thats been banned in australia and i was thinking of snairing instead, just wondering how the snairs work. e.g. does it hit the rabbits feet and tighten???
Wow...I love how inbreed swine can try to make some sort of art form out of torturing small animals...Future serial killer...Sick fuck...Someone should put a snare outside your house you waste of fucking flesh.
@jasonseafishseesfish Dude, chill the fuck out.. When it all boils down what matters the most? Get over it dude, when the world goes to shit you fuckin vegans can eat all the fucking leaves you want I'm sure it won't be long before you are sittin next to everybody else around the camp fire enjoying some nice deer or boar freshly killed.
i prefer snare traps which lift them of the ground, less suffering. but harder to make, in a serious survival situation i will probably use this one as well, but he can start chewing the cord, when he is lift off on a tree he wont be able to.
do u ever cach any alive and what state do u live in if u do cach any alive i was wondering if u can sell me any for about 5 to6 $ a rabbit i live in ny state
Yeah, that's exactly how it works. They go through the snare and at one point it gets stuck, and they instinctively struggle to get out of it, which only really makes it tighter, and they die.
A friend of my went camping with his dogs and made a rabbit snare and one of his dogs was missing from camp site. Guess what happened... the dog got caught on the snare. It died after he found it.
i try not to think very much one topics such as these, but consider we are just doing our part as any other animal, kill, eat, sleep, fuck and survive and hope we arent on the bottom of the food chain, like the coyote, just be adaptable for changes to come
LOL... "the red wolves and the Eastern mountain Lion". What a completely shit argument.

Unlike wolves and lions, you find rabbits in every corner of the world. Ergo, the expression, "breeding like rabbits".
Mike, I'm pretty sure each animal has it's part too take from te food chain. By humans killing and eating almost every animal that lives, is altering the food chain, leaving not so much animals left for another to eat.
Say, we have 100 foxes and 200 rabbits in a large block of land, and humans come in and kill all of the rabbits. What would the foxes have to eat...? Grass maybe..?
Number one, you don't set in places were people's pets can get. Number two, if people's pets are wandering around where they shouldn't be, it's the pet owner's fault. Number three, you weren't trying to catch people's pets on purpose. It's legal in loads of places.
How do you know where to set the snares rabbits roam all over the woods a front lawns, how do you know what is a rabbit trail do they use the same areas daily, or is it just guess work & a bit of luck too.
thats only if your dumb enough to set these in suberbs but if you do this in the country and that happens its the owners fault for letting their animals roam
hey nice vid but i have some questions the area i am snaring is in tall grass and i am seeing a lot of rabbit trails do you think i should do anything diffrent?
Just be sure you have a sturdy anchorage point to tie to, which you may have to bring to the grassy area that the trails are in, maybe a wooden stake or metal rod or something...
Ummm, Yea they fuckin do, DUMBASS! In fact Ill prove it to you... Get a large thick zip tie,,, Put it over your bulbus head and pull it tight around your fuckin' neck... Then you tell me if it works!!:)
Yea, Im not going to argue. You're a fuckin idiot.
it kinda depends on a few things. if you live on a lot uh land, you can shoot N' trap to your hearts content. if your like me, living in a small town (or what wProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0 once a small town)then you can do it year round in your back yard and if someone asks questions, I just say their eatin my dog food and chewin up the garden somethin awful!
i did this i used 20 and 15. 15 gauge doesnt work as well due to the fact that it bends back to it circle form too easily. the whole trick behind this is that the wire will bend into a valley shape and not let loop get bigger again. 20 gauge doesn't bent as easy so it works a whole lot better.
I dont know what you filmed this with but im guessing a piece of cheese?

i dont understand what stops the rabbits from just going thru the loop in the snare? there is no spring tension in this snare to pull the loop closed???
123bigpete123 1 year ago
So.. why do these work? Why do the rabbits get stuck?
Your snares look just like other explanations I've seen plenty other places.
Is it because when the rabbit pulls the loop closed, it puts a kink in the wire at the loop that keeps it from opening back up?
It's not worth the effort to spring load these?

the weaker foxes would die out, and the stronger ones would move on and survive, this would make the population even stronger in the future
homer713 2 years ago
No, you wouldn't.
Number one, you don't set in places were people's pets can get. Number two, if people's pets are wandering around where they shouldn't be, it's the pet owner's fault. Number three, you weren't trying to catch people's pets on purpose. It's legal in loads of places.

20 gauge stainless steel wire, I got the snare wire from "Canadian Tire" most hardware stores carry it...

i dont understand how the rabbit will get cought in it i mean cant it just jump right through it?
SUPERSAYENNICK 2 years ago
Not if you make it small enough. Head gets through, shoulders/paws don't.

How do you know where to set the snares rabbits roam all over the woods a front lawns, how do you know what is a rabbit trail do they use the same areas daily, or is it just guess work & a bit of luck too.
MyREDTAIL 2 years ago
Hey MyREDTAIL, generally if you know rabbits are present in an area their trails are pretty obvious...
northernpike56 2 years ago
look for droping rabbits seem to go same way thinking its the safest touch see how fresh they are then set teh wire thinking witch way could come
Renerldrealmshandris 2 years ago
thats only if your dumb enough to set these in suberbs but if you do this in the country and that happens its the owners fault for letting their animals roam

shiv317 2 years ago
hey nice vid but i have some questions the area i am snaring is in tall grass and i am seeing a lot of rabbit trails do you think i should do anything diffrent?
a1rsoftp0wn3r 2 years ago
Just be sure you have a sturdy anchorage point to tie to, which you may have to bring to the grassy area that the trails are in, maybe a wooden stake or metal rod or something...

can the cops get you for doing this like in ur backyard?
SUPERSAYENNICK 2 years ago
no...
richard2mitchell 2 years ago
it kinda depends on a few things. if you live on a lot uh land, you can shoot N' trap to your hearts content. if your like me, living in a small town (or what wProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0 once a small town)then you can do it year round in your back yard and if someone asks questions, I just say their eatin my dog food and chewin up the garden somethin awful!
joebob666666 2 years ago
nope
keagobeno 2 years ago
i did this i used 20 and 15. 15 gauge doesnt work as well due to the fact that it bends back to it circle form too easily. the whole trick behind this is that the wire will bend into a valley shape and not let loop get bigger again. 20 gauge doesn't bent as easy so it works a whole lot better.
shadowolves1322 2 years ago
20's way to thick for me
