After years of being a Hot fucking Tuna fan, went to see them in the late 1970s and was shocked to see Jorma with Orange hair, half the audience walked out in the Academy of Music in New York, booed Jorma. They played Volunteers of America as an encore, and Jorma said "This is for all you who want to throw up," I did but hung on to the end until mid 80s when Hot Tuna made a comeback, can't wait for Dec 9 at the beacon.
They were always way loud but that was tuna in 77 and 78 as well. Go in at 8 pm come out at 5AM ears ringing for 3 days Good times , good times! SVT Stonybrook, HMMM that didnt do it for me
I lived in SF '78-79, and was able to see Jorma and Jack quite a few times at the Old Waldorf ... but never together. Jack was with SVT (punky fun) and Jorma was always solo. I guess that was their "trial separation" period in the larger scheme of things.
I saw SVT at The Stone on Broadway in San Francisco. Place was full. That band had a great singer/songwriter Brian Marnell. Their "No Regrets" LP is awesome. Brian died of an OD, as I recall. A sad loss.
Saw Jorma with VP at the Palladium in NY before they put out BBQ King, so before this video. Man, they were a lot louder than this and much more disjointed - total chaos. I remember him saying in interviews at the time that he didn't care if his audience wanted to see "the old man and his guitar". He had a lot of punk attitude for a flower child.
This is cool new wave and kind of psychedelic!Jack Cassity had a Punk band as well-what was their name?? ANYONE!???SVT or something? post one pleeeeazze!
Yes, It was SVT which is a medical term, "supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a tachycardia or rapid rhythm of the heart in which the origin of the electrical signal is either the atria or the AV node. These rhythms, by definition, are either initiated or maintained by the SA node in the atria or in some cases by the AV node. This is in contrast to the deadlier ventricular tachycardias, which are rapid rhythms that originate from the ventricles of the heart"
I saw all these guys back in the day. Not because I was crazy about them, it was just the thing to do I guess. Saw this Vital Parts band at the Calderone Concert Hall in NY, actually saw SVT at a dinner theater called "North Stage" in Glen Cove, NY. There were about a dozen people in the audience for that one. Saw lots of shows at the Paladium, never missed a Halloween Zappa concert there, they were fun. SVT had a pretty good sound if I remember right, bass player carried it.
The studio recording is better. Catchy song, so-so performance here.

Mid life crisis for Jorma.
Not a bad song.
Lost interest about that time and recently saw a Rocking Tuna show in Tampa.
Plan on seeing them at the Beacon 12/09.

I thought SVT referenced the Ampeg bass amp of the same name.
