To me it's about a great and consuming love, an obsession with the person you care for till the point where he is everything to you and you trust him more than you do yourself- "and why should I believe myself not you?" IMHO this song describes the way a man feels for the person that is the meaning of his life, the one that without him he can't imagine his life.
I come back 4 months later and this song still blows me away. Pablo Honey is just an amazing fucking record. Fuck the haters. Every Radiohead album is a different story. Pablo Honey was possible the greatest alternative rock album ever written. I'd like to see Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins try to right something as beautiful as Stop Whispering or Prove Yourself.
In Rainbows is also beautiful. Every album is in their own way. Radiohead is a gift from Atheist God, I shall cherish it.

these performances are hilarious I almost don't recognise this radiohead. It's as if ed and jonny are trying to throw the song off with their manic guitar playing and noises.
what are you on about? playing live and being energetic isnt the same thing as playing the song exactly as it's heard on the CD. its called improvisation and it's an artistic quality.
that preformance is amazing, thoms voice feels so full and powerfull.
i think this version equally great with all of jonnys guitar licks. personally, i prefer just about any live version of this song to the album, not that the album version isnt good, its just the live ones are so energetic.
While they were recording someone who worked in the studio or something brought them a tape of the "Jerky Boys"(that early nineties comedy outfit that made prank phone calls to people and recorded it) The tape shocked their British sensibility; one skit had a jerky boy pretending to be some lady who kept asking for her "Pablo Honey". They decided that they were all "mammas boys" and thus named their debut album "Pablo Honey"...but you could easily find this info oline.
These men are amazing, though they were so young when this was filmed... Around 24-26, I think. Thom's voice is more mature now, and Jonny's style has refined, too. Old and new Radiohead, I love them.
Best "You" I have ever listened. This variant (and concert) introduced Radiohead to my heart, when first aired at MTV Live - before Creep. You gotta love Jonny and his guitar
This probably the best performance I have yet seen of this song. The audio was synched perfectly, you really feel like you're there! Even young Radiohead was awesome.
couldnt have said it's better because its exactly how i felt after hearing In Rainbows....but then a YEAR later, after maturing my tastes and listening to it again, I understand they went on and evolved.
Man, the first Radiohead song I heard was Creep. It was like three years ago. It took me an extra year to like Radiohead because Creep actually sounds pretty lackluster for a first-time listener.
Though what got me into Radiohead was the live of Idioteque, I totally think that You is the best track on Pablo Honey. My other favorite from the album would be I Can't.
Though Pablo Honey obviously doesn't live up to any of Radiohead's other releases, it's still an important part of Radiohead's history. It's the album that is almost entirely responsible for their success, and the album that nearly had them labeled a 90's brit pop one-hit-wonder band.
This song is amazing though and a complete standout on PH...I absolutely love their use of alternating 12/8 + 11/8.
2:08... That's the definition of epic right there!

you just turn the gain up and put your entire hand over the strings on like the first or second fret (around there, doesn't matter) and strum..
