I remember this from when I was a junior in High School in 1960 and now I am halfway around the world on my sailboat. How about that for inspiration??? I wasn't able to get a copy of it until I got Itunes a few years ago and I checked here to see if anyone else remembered it. Check out my sailing clips.
My Oma sent my family this song both on a 45 and 33 and it was one of my favourite songs and being half German it always makes me cry for some reason... It is still as fresh as it was when i was a little girl...Thank you so very much for making me happy..I never knew what Lolita looked like either..she is indeed a lovely looking woman with a beautiful voice...
I have been looking for this song for years. Thanks so much for posting it. I can remember hearing it as a child and all this time, no one could tell me anything about it. I would love to have it on CD if someone can tell me where. I"ve looked on Amazon but couldn't find it. Thanks...MANY thanks
@Trudge518 ..."Sailor (Your Home Is the Sea" by Lolita is on a 2001 released CD: "Hard To Find 45s on CD: Volume 6-More Sixties Classics", on Eric Records 11512-2. You should be able to order directly from Eric Records, if you can't find it elsewhere. The songs was a national hit, in the USA from about 10/60-02/61.
Being German and Norwegian I know but too well how a man can love his ship. But I'm here to tell ya it sure would be nice to come home to Lolita ~~~ Pardner, she's a DREAMBOAT!
Danke
Thank you for posting this. I loved this song from the first time I heard it back in the 60's.
