  • the car was yellow in another picture.

    pittsburge world of wheel's.

  • yea barris used a 289 hipo and two four barrel carb's and of course the open organ pipe header's with a street cam from isky.

that's what made it sound soo MEAN AND VIRILE in the drag race episode, and the FILM Munster Go Home.

I have the movie on VHS i watch it sometime's.

I wonder who painted the body yellow over the gold?

still hot looking movie car though..

  • It sounds good but sounds like it has a loose fan belt

  • Tutt tutt

  • That is so Hot Wheels moment there!

  • Took me a while 2 figure out wot it was.. dont like it . total rubbish.

  • Comment removed

  • that thing is a DEATHTRAP

    i love it

  • At least if you crash and die in it, your already in a coffin :)

  • The guy driving it by the faces he makes, looks like he has to take a shit.

  • Who owns the car now?

  • Yoou guys in waterford? Or Elm? I know that location but I can't quite connect. Deff south jersey. I'm from there

  • Fred Gwynne never drove the car, it was Al Lewis (Grandpa) who "dragged" it.

  • dude who ever owns that car is my hero.. one thing to own a car but from a kick ass show we all know and like is 2 c ool ..

  • I love it in the movie when Herman (after passing the other cars) says "I guess it's time to take it out of first gear".

  • my neighbors would love me,starting that up

  • This video makes me sad, like watching video of a captured wild animal.

  • @donovartronic Nahh, man.....it should make you happy. Think of how "nothing ever stays the same"....and that piece of history is almost half a century old! It's still around...in beautiful shape...and probably can run like a scalded dog. It's getting loaded up to go to another place, where it will make a bunch of people really happy to see it! I know it would me. It's all about perspective and attitude, bro.

  • Who's brilliant idea was it to have a pack of unruly rotthweilers running loose around the car? Couldn't put them away for the 3 friggin' minutes the car is out?

  • @aaardvarkkk Perhaps the Rottweilers do WHAT they want....WHEN they want!!

  • Talk about bad ass!!! Imagine showing up to a car show in that!!!!!

  • nice car and build andy.always wanted my own dragula too i just got a nice chev 350 for my 68 camaro. finally! old 4 bolts are getting harder to find in way upstate ny. ones i can afford anyway. thanks for posting

  • Tighten the damn fan belt!

btw, Grandpa Munster looks way worse than he used to.

  • @puffintuffer yeah especially since he died in '06 lol

  • i remember seeing this or a replica hanging in a planet hollywood in atlantic city about 1998

  • @stevedigger91 that was the original one according to the munsters koach website. Still there as far as I know.

  • That car has the most awesome sound!!

  • I want an organ like that..in MY CHURCH !

  • the original Drag,U La had a hopped up 289 Hi po like the sport version of the older mustang's,

no there wasnt a 289 cobra Jet,

    I thought there was?

    but there wasnt,

It had the dual 4 barrel carb's and the organ pipe header's and a race type cam in it too,

Casket was real, barris coudnt find a used box, so had to buy one outright,

Original footage of car with the Koach was without rollbar,

Then in "Munster Go Home", a bar was put in for safety reasons,

  • @kirkconway I think you're correct in that this car's engine was NOT a 289 "Cobra Jet"...but what the person maybe meant was like you said...a Hi-Po 289. You'll prob. remember...Ford's dress-up chrome kit for that 289 had gorgeous chrome valve-covers that said "COBRA" on them. Those engines...with the single 4-bbl from the factory....were 271 horsepower. And to the other gentleman that stated that "that's no small-block"....well, yes it is.

  • Would love to see this toling down I-71 on the way to a Reds game.

  • To me Dragula was always the very ultimate performer of all the great tv customs

  • Damn, niggah

  • A trailer queen

  • dual carbs is so nasty, i bet this drinks gas like crazy lol sounds great

  • I understand both cars were pushed and alowed to coast for shooting sequences for the show

  • That is such a cool car You have to bend the front light back after a run LOL If there still on the car. I know that car can't be safe anyway. just for looks. I think on TV they speed the film up. I heard None of the cars go really fast. I sub to your Channel Thanks for posting Your Vids. c]:-)

  • @1dockthorwho23 I saw both of those cars back in the late 60's or early 70's at the World Of Wheels car show in Tucson. They really were works of art. But...from what I saw...just from them sitting still and not running.....was a healthy power-to-weight ration. I'll bet those cars flat-out hauled ass. No doubt in my mind. Just not a lot of weight....especially with Grampa's Coffin-Car.

  • Can't tell what motor it is. I'm guessing a Ford by the exhaust and distibitor

location? Dual carbed? Needs a good "cam" too!!!

  • It was a 289 cobra Jet engine, and the top was taken off for Fred Gwynn( Herman), to be able to drive it,

and also they put a roll bar in it for safety reasons,

Its the same car as the series just changed a bit for the film,

Ive got muster Go Home and i watch it to hear this thing roar out of the old Estate that the munsters are settling in england,

you gotta go nuts when herman has it opened up on the straightway of the shroudshire race,

    WOWSIE,

    WHAT A NOISE!!!

  • @kirkconway It also doesnt have the tail lamps. I have a video response to this video with the Munster Go Home race with Rob Zombies Dragula hot rod Herman mix. Check it out.

  • @kirkconway no such thing as a 289 cobra jet... and listen to that.. thats no small block

  • I noticed that the Dragula in the movie Muster Go Home is slightly differant. It doesnt have a bubble top and has differant rims.

  • YES,,,, that is what they did to the car to actually run it in that country race, the rollbar and the solid chrome wheels were there to make it more racelike and not so much show,

Barris had to actually buy a casket,

as he couldnt find a used one so that is a real casket,

    no big deal though,

  • Screw all the rest of the repro parts, where the hell do you get the bubble cockpit cover?

  • It wouldn't be all that hard to make. Big Daddy Roth used bubbles because they were so cheap and simple to produce. One makes a two plywood form, sandwiches a piece of plex between the sheets, heats it in an oven and blows air into it with a compressor after placing the heated plastic over over an airtight box. The flip side of vacuum forming, actually. To make this top, you'd need to make it symmetrical, cut it in half and apply the flat back. Which wouldn't be bad. You'd have an extra.

  • Rob Zombie's car!!!!

  • My Car !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow! That's one of the nicest repops I've seen. I'm scrounging up parts for my own clone, right now. Have the intake manifold, valve covers, engine, tranny, rear end (1940 Lincoln) and the Dupree Chrome Dome fuel pump. I'd love to know where this guy got his lanterns and hood scoops.

    Norm

  • This is my favorite movie car! When you get your car done please make sure to put some videos up of it! Maybe even keep us updated during the build..........^_^ *subscribed*

  • @theshadow1932 'Just recently acquired the correct Speedsport wire wheels! 'Not cheap, but dead on! Thank you, Ebay!

  • what mill did the real? dragula have

  • 289 Ford, and like everything else Barris built, it barely ran and the overall car was a piece of shit.

  • I take it you were jealous of Barris? That would be the reason that you say hateful, ignorant lies about him and his cars? For your information that 289 ran like a beast; because Barris built a damn good car.

  • It was a 350 horsepower 289 Ford with a four speed and two-four barrels.

  • its the only car that can play promise me in second gear

  • damn that thing is badass!!!

  • HOLY SHIT thats awsome!!!

  • sinister!! eat your heart out rob zombie....
