  • can you choose your apeture, ISO, and shutter speed? i want good shutter speed for taking light photos, so a shutter speed of about 15-30 secs. could you get back to me. thanks

  • @blackghost1094

You can change those settings on every DSLR....

  • @cameralabs Is it worth bying now? I've been offered the twin lens kit for 1000 danish kr (about £114)... I am an completely amateur but I'm interested in an SLR. Is it worth it? :)

  • ive just bought e420 is it a good camera

  • does it take videos? can you take a video with it and upload it i would like to see how it looks on youtube

  • borend :S

  • ive heard that the view finder on this is a bit small, does it really make a big differance?

  • It is smaller than most DSLRs, but only you can decide if that's an issue for you personally.

  • gordon, what camera do you have?

  • I've owned cameras by almost all the manufacturers, but these days I tend to use the camera which I'm testing at the moment to maximise my time with it...

  • Good Work ! 5/5

  • very good review!! thanks for posting/making

  • I got one of these around october time last year and it was my first dslr and is an absolutely brilliant camera to use, my friend has a canon eos 350d which at the time was in a higher price bracket, and my little e-400 holds its own easily against the canon equivelent. Top Review! you just got yourselves another subscriber cameralabs

  • Great review! This really helped me get a better insight into my options, although I think I'll go for the E-410. I'm an aspiring photographer who knows NOTHING but this brand of SLR cameras seem to be simple and easy to use. Thanks again for the review!

  • I'm delighted with my E400 and I'm glad I chose it over Canikon ...

It's a more honest camera than canikons approach to noise reduction and the colours are natural.

Thanks Olympus for this innovative product.

  • thanks you been a big help. now this is a review.

  • Hi Gordon,

Great video. Seriously, it was a lot of help, espically with the limited reviews on the internet.

Quick question though if you wouldn't mind. What's the viewfinder like compared to the e-500? The e-500's got a lot of complaints for being too small so I'm slightly worried about this.

    Thanks.

  • Hi MonkeyHugger, I'm glad the video was useful!

I didn't have the E-500 alongside the E-400 when I reviewed it, so it's hard to say whether one had a better viewfinder than the other. But from my recollection they were similar, and both appear a little smaller than the best DSLRs. This is one of the downsides of Four Thirds bodies so far, but you'll have to look through one yourself to decide if it's an issue. Many people wouldn't notice.

  • why i can't watch this review?

  • hi gordon... maybe you can help me after all i like you camera labs videos are the best :) well im writing you because ill buy a DLSR camera. but there a lot of options ! im a new in the DSLR cameras but a i want a good one, im between the [ nikon d40 , sony alpha100 , olympus e500] i dont have a lot of money but enoght to these ones... will me be great if you help me... well thnx for your time... sorry im mexican and i cant write very well> again thanks
  • Hello theroden! I'm glad you like the videos! Have you seen our 10 Megapixel group test video? That might help you decide about the Sony Alpha. All the models you mention are good, although the E500 is the oldest. I would advise picking them up in a shop and going for the one which looks and feels best in your hand. All will take great photos, so the feel is normally the deciding factor. You might also find the detailed reviews at our Cameralabs website useful.

    Good luck! Gordon

  • yo goofy :) get the new canon xti .. you can't go wrong with a canon :)

  • someone help! Too many choices! I'm upgrading from a compact cam, but Im looking for somethign that will last me for quite few years without having to upgrade yet again. So entry level maybe higher but definitely not pro, cant afford :D. Can anyone make a recommendation? Would this cam, or Canon Xti, Nikon D80, Sony A100 be a good choice? or are there other cams I should take a look at?

  • Hi GOOOFYproductions, we feel your pain! There's loads of new DSLRs, and the ones you mention are all really good. We've done a video comparing the Canon, Nikon and Sony which you might find useful, and if you want a detailed comparison of each model, pop over to our CameraLabs website.

I'd also recommend popping into a store and trying them in person, because one will feel much better to you than the others - and that's normally the best one to get!

    Gordon
