the reason deerhoof is so good is because they are very intersting and fun to listen to and unique. they also show how music doesn't have restrictions and i hate how people say 'music is this' or 'music is supposed to be that' because it isn't and it can be anything. the point of music is to envoke emotion, that is art.

That's what I dislike most about many people's take on music...a performer's cultural stance being more important than actual musicality. I especially hate it when people who are pitch deaf decide to like music because of the stinking lyrics...aaargh...just read poetry then! At the same time music is ultimately about culture and a sort of universal language. Anyhoo, I love deerhoof's satire if that's what it is.
