  • oh say by the way they make a negative wedge kit that fits in place of the regular top ball joint to clear these big rims--- so you don't have to grind out for clearance .i think you can get them from some mustang catalogues or direct from pro motorsports out of sandy, utah he also has the camber ecentric eliminator bolts, progressive springs, shock tower weld in enforment braces like on the boss 302 trans am cars it really stiffens up the front ---no more flexing or very little anyways.

  • @coolfixit thanks for the info.

  • yep, there's always one dumbas- in the crowd who has to ruin it for everyone bec ause he ain't cool enough or you ain't chevy enough for him---so let's run an impact wrench while there're filming for everyone's enjoyment!!! sweet sweet sounding 289!!! keep up the good work!!!

  • @coolfixit thanks for the compliment, yea i wish he had just waited.....

  • thats a 289 alright

  • first vintage mustang i have heard that sounds like a 4valve cobra i have never heard that before maybe i am just living under a rock but still congratualtions to you for having one badass mustang. perfect color not to flashy rims and one bad ass motor

  • @jfkyz125 thanks jfkyz125.

  • @jfkyz125 ..you are right the middle RPM's sound slightly like a dohc modular. the highs and lows don't though.

  • badd ass car...

  • @adokenk3nnbasil thanks:)

  • "Sounds like a power drill" lol

  • Damn I want to sell my Maverick to get me a Pony like this lol

  • why the hell are you choking this thing with a 800 double, holley no less. that way too much carb. guaranteed.

  • sounds alot like mine, 331 roller mechanical cam, AFR 185 heads. Under Robin724now videos

  • Those look like Am hopster wheels, what size wheels and tires are you running front and rear, what is the backspacing? Did you lower it and how, did you roll fender lips?

  • they r hopsters, 17 by 8 with 4.75 bs. which is good for the rear. did not have to roll fenders. but the front i should have gone with 4.5 bs. i had to grind the upper a arm for clearance. the tires are 235/45zr17

  • those pretty 289s they`re awsome

they rev and rev and rev

    congrats

  • thank you chemostrincougar.

  • What can make the engine rumble? It sounds sweet when it rumbles ;3

  • so this a stock 289 cause mine doesnt sound that good

  • no johz65 it's not stock. bunch of stuff has been done to it. read the info. peace and good luck with your stang.

  • 305 horse power?

  • at 5500rpm the operator said it made 305h.p. there was something wrong with the dyno, it lost the signal from the engine. have not taken it back to check horsepower again.

  • nice high winder..love it. Couldnt the guy with the air wratchet wait a few minutes?

  • yea, i wish he had waited too. thanks for the compliment.

  • whats it run on the 1/4?

  • never been to the track but on the dyno run (other video) it went 13.50.

  • hey please answer! Did you have to do any mods or roll any fenders for the 17s to fit?

  • no mods to the fenders. the tire and wheel combo is really no taller than the fifteens.

  • thanks... what size tires are you running? Im just making sure i want have to drop my car or anything to make them fit

  • riken raptor 235/45ZR17 on 8" ar hopsters i'm running 4.75 bs which is perfect for the back but i rubbed the upper a-arm in front,(just alittle in sharp turn), it needed ground for clearance. i think 4.5 bs for front would be better for the inside but then you would be closer to the fender. i also have a negative wedge kit on the a-arm which dropped the front 1". the car still looks high but the a-arm is 1" higher on the shock tower. hope this helps. good luck.

  • if you run 7" or smaller wheel on front you should have no problem with clearance.

  • That is a very sweet 65!

  • thanks, i like both of the cars you have on your site. the gray 347 is BAD!!!

  • I love how you can spin a 289 to the moon

  • Hey, Im planning my 289 build, I love the sound of your cam, whats your cam profile?

  • 289,, good engine. Nowadays you can barely come by an original 289 V8. I've got an original 64 289 4 barrel V8 that came out of a 64 Mercury Comet Cyclone. I'm restoring the Comet right now and I'm going to put a 351W in then if I ever sell it I will put the 289 V8 back in.

  • I have a 289 I'm rebuilding for a 66 coupe. All standard/Never been bored. The Hipo's are what are rare

  • Ya this engine aint a Hipo... unfortunatley. I took it apart and it was in really rough shape which is y i am putting a 351W in it.

  • Minivan,

Youre right, 289s inmustangs alone is hard to come by. They all seem to have 302s or have been stroked. I too have the original 289 in my 66 fastback. She just rolled over on 49,000 miles (yes original/documented). Wish i could make that kinda power with out having to tear into my motor.

  • that's some very high revving 289. nice one.

was there someone fitting your tyres while you were on the dyno or what is that? :-)

  • that was someone working on the car beside mine. they were putting on an exhaust system : )

  • no respect ... :-)

  • DAMN thats awesome. gota love the insane RPMS of SBF. seems like i just tap the gas on mine and its at 5 grand! whats done to yours? what were your numbers? id like to know more about your car, its freakin sweet!
