  • I definitely remember watching the uncensored episode in 1980, and at least one other time after that. It was broadcast on KCTS, the Seattle PBS affiliate, which ran Flying Circus episodes on Monday nights at 9PM from the mid 70s to the early 80s ("local funding for this program by Ivar's Acres Of Clams").

  • @russallert That is posible. Another missing sketch, the political choreographer, has been returned because PBS still had it as well.

  • Q: why would Satan have a South African accent?

  • @ArmandKarlsen Sounds jewish to me

  • This kind of did make it into the final episode. At the end they show the whole episode in 30 seconds and 3 screenshots from this can be spotted.

  • Wow. Seems like the perfect segue. Can't believe it wasn't used.

  • the satan voice sounds familier. it sounds like one of the people from the Beatles!

  • @7NekoChild7 It's eric idle's voice

  • @rossapolis thanks!

  • that satan is adorable!

  • "did somebody call?"

  • Got this on the DVD box :D

  • @zanarisrobo You sure?

  • @themontypythonmuseum Yeah, in the collection box with all monty pyhton Films/series.

  • @zanarisrobo This bit is lost and has never been released on a DVD set. Certainly not in colour. If not, please provide a screenshot or a new youtube video?

  • @themontypythonmuseum Sorry, i loaned it with a friend who lives far away.

  • @zanarisrobo When you check it I think you will find that the episodes skips this bit and goes straight from the cartoon vicar into How not to be seen. You won't find the telephone pole crucifixion there.

  • @themontypythonmuseum Ok, i will check next time he come. Its in a few weeks.

  • @themontypythonmuseum Your right dude i have that box set its not in there

  • mountie, mounted serpant....canadian david cronenberg knows. ..assclepius.

huge python which is baalam. wood snake. etc.... hey! -how about a cup 'o soup?

check out weird al interviews mc hammer.

  • do you even know what monty python means?

  • @noodlesmealey Do you?

  • Comment removed

  • @noodlesmealey What are you on about, you crazy person?

  • Why did they delete it? Let's see.....it was the early 70's, the world was a bit more conservative, and more people went to Church back in those days. It's a good thing Christians believe in forgiveness. I can see how they could get upset over their messiah being mocked in this matter. Python was not afraid to cross the line.

  • Comment removed

  • @Fooblestheclown The members of the Python actually met with church officials after the release of the Life of Brian. The resulting arguments were rabbid. These discussions were film for the BBC. I saw them on YouTube somewhere. Worth watching.

  • @spacecowboy5000 ....can you imagine if they made fun of Islam this way? Trouble.

  • why did that they delete it ?!

  • Just goes to show not even Terry Gilliam's animations were free from the censors.

  • lol! Satan is Russian! it's just like from hetalia

  • Can't see why they would want to cut that...

  • @ohmydinosare The "Wee Wee Wine Tasting" skit was cut mostly due to John Cleese, who found it a bit tasteless (so to speak).

  • know something funny? in this episode, at the end, they replay the whole episode in 30 seconds. three frames of the deleted animation can be seen. so this animation performed the art of how to not be seen until seomeone found it.

a deleted monty python sketch called "wee wee winetaster" still is doing well with not beeing seen.

  • @avalanchesuperstar That is true but it would have been rediscovered eventually from 16mm b/w film copies even if those frames hadn't been there. As for wee-wee-winetasting and the big-nosed sculpture... were they ever recorded? It all remains semi-mythical or at the very least, apocryphical. The BBC says they do not have copies (anymore?). However the extended versions of some of the later episodes DO exist but have never been released. All very disappointing.

  • @themontypythonmuseum one sketch, "politicial choreogrpaher" was deleted and found in the wned (pbs) archives. you can find it here on youtube. note that episode begins with no its man and no and no

    nude organist and no a.n.f.s.c.d.

because that was in the political choregorapher sketch.

but all of them were filmed. cleese admitted they did do a take of another lost sketch, "long nose sculptor", which has graham chapman sculpting a bust of cleese that has a long pinnochio sized nose.

  • @avalanchesuperstar That was deleted AFTER completion of the episodes. That too would have been discovered from 16mm b/w film or scripts. Yes, I know about the big nosed paintings, see previous post. One such sculpture appears in the background of the sherry drinking vicar sketch. On the other hand it is not certain if wee-wee wine tasting was ever recorded. But you don't have to tell me this, I'm the monty python museum, I have uploaded almost all of the videos that have not been wiped.

  • @themontypythonmuseum i was going to mention the sherry drinking vicar, where the "long nosed sculptor", which appeared earlier in the episode. theres another deleted sketch that i forget the title. "dads, pets, something something".... i dont know what, but it was orginally planned for episode 35.

  • @avalanchesuperstar Do you mean Dad's pooves? That sketch has been reinstated on the latest dvd release.

  • @themontypythonmuseum yes i meant that one.

another interesting one was that the animation in episode 36, there is an animation of animals in a jungle (one of them is mickey mouse lol) and they are grabbed by a hand and thrown into a blender and are made into a cocktail. it was supposed to lead into another deleted sketch: "revolting cocktails". they did do this live, however. im not sure why they cut it. that and "half a bee"

  • @themontypythonmuseum I'm quite sure Wee-Wee Wine Tasting was recorded, because I first heard of it about 15-20 years ago when my sister and I were reminiscing about watching MP when it was first broadcast on PBS circa 1974 and she described the sketch, in even more detail than Palin did recently in Almost the Truth. Very sad to say I myself don't remember it, but clearly she must have seen it.

  • @Druffmaul That is amazing. There is no record of it ever being broadcast. It is almost impossible, everyone agrees the sketch was cut and replaced with something else before first transmission and was probably destroyed afterwards.

  • telephone poles 0_________0 OMG.

What sort of God should it be not to understand such hilarious jokes?

  • @alinemerrow I'm pretty sure God has got the joke. Bigoted people didn't :D

  • @BSzili Dead right, sir.

  • Happy 70th birthday Terry!

  • why was this deleted?

  • I am a Christian and I thought this was hilarious.

  • @SMOKEinPetrone Same here :)

  • live now, pay later!

  • Did somebody call?

  • it's sacrilarious!

  • The devil is selling houses in the Hell !!!

"Only to Yards of The One The Only Prince of Darknes"

    "Group Discounts Available"

    "Live Now Pay Later"

  • @axedrecista Don't think he does? Those signs are just advertisement for life in hell. "Only two yards to the p.o.d." etcetera...

  • ....Where the HELL did you get this?! I've waited years to see this!!

  • @NyeTunes Where the hell indeed. Thank heavens I found it though.

  • @themontypythonmuseum Ha ha ha! Irony.

  • "Live now, pay later", excellent!

  • On the Python documentary, Almost The Truth. Troma director Lloyd Kaufman refered to Mary Whitehouse as "Grandma Blowjob" LOL!! XD

But seriously folks, moral campaigning doesn't work, all they do is attract more attention to whatever they're up in arms about, epic fail for them everytime.

  • @DonaldMcKinney Indeed. Witness the whackjobs in NYC who protested the premiere of "Life of Brian" without having seen it. I believe Cleese said they made him a rich man.

  • @DonaldMcKinney Oh, and... Hey, you, Whitehouse Ha ha, charade you are You house-proud town mouse Ha ha, charade you are You're trying to keep our feelings off the street You're nearly a real treat All tight lips and cold feet And do you feel abused? .....!.....!.....!.....! You gotta stem the evil tide And keep it all on the inside Mary you're nearly a treat Mary you're nearly a treat But you're really a cry
  • Just one question... why the South African(?) accent?

  • @ArmandKarlsen Apparently it's a sort of London jewish accent?

  • In this picture there are 40 people, none of them can be seen

  • Satan with that bowler hat is very reminiscent of Tom Waits' Satan in Gilliam's 'Imaginium of Dr.Parnasius' movie.

  • The devil has a brilliant jewish accent ;d

  • That's Eric Idle!!!

  • Just spotted something else, the vicar at the start the 'right' side of his jacket has been 'cut & pasted' out of the earlier scenes (save colourising time) am I right? couldn't do the same with the left because of the arm and phone.

  • Though it is sacreligious, the satan part is hilarious. But I really liked the whole scene before that with the preacher in it. Why isn't the whole thing included into this?

  • I always wondered why this bit of animation seems to just suddenly 'ends.'

  • Why was it cut?

  • Just a guess, but the whole crucifix/telephone pole thing was probably a little too much.

  • @rogerswift1983

I'll bet that useless bitch, Mary Whitehouse.

  • @TheCastellan You mean Amy Winehouse?

  • No, Mary Whitehouse. She was a Christian censorship bitch who really shoved her nose into everyone's business when she saw something she did not like. Doctor Who was one of her frequent victims. :P

  • @TheCastellan My god! What a fucking bitch! O_o I HATE religious extremists! It's people like her who give God a BAD name(that goes for other religious extremists out there like VenomFangX from Youtube.)! People like that are an epic failure to this whole world. *sighs and facepalms towards that shit* -.-;;;

  • @Gavinwr75 No they have a clue whatsoever! Not even VenomFangX from youtube! He's a fucking butt hurt!

  • What do you think of their movie "Life of Brian"?

  • @Gavinwr75 no, he's understanding. people have just gotta stop shitting on each other...

  • @WolfyPsycho she's not a bitch, she just needs to stop being too literal

  • @TheCastellan Someone told me that the Dr. Who people actually looked forward to her starting shit because it brought viewers to their show. I hope it's true; it'd be great for a laugh.

  • @tugmytail

Still...without that useless bitch, we could have had more stuff in Dr. Who. Even though Tom Baker said Doctor Who had a lot of violence...he, in an interview said there was not enough. I think he only said the former for Whitehouse to get off his back, since she PERSONALLY phoned actors from shows she objected to, trying to 'talk sence into them'. I think she called Louise Jameson and Sophie Aldread several times in particular.

  • I saw a programme concerning Mary Whitehouse! Her original name for her censorship group was "Clean Up National Television" or C.U.N.T. for short! XD)))

  • That's a surprisingly cheerful Satan.

  • I remember seeing the censored version as a kid when they reran them on PBS in the 80s... that episode had a final bit where they replayed the whole episode really fast, and there were one or two shots of this animation that you could see if you froze the frame on the VHS... I never thought I'd actually get to see it!

  • AMAZING! How you found the colored version?

  • hahaha the crucifixes as telephone poles

  • 'Group Discounts Available' and 'Live Now Pay Later' brilliant.

  • Wow! I can see why they would have cut that back in the day. I'm glad you uploded this.

  • I didn't see them

  • Incredible! How can that have been censored?

  • John Cleese cut the scene from subsequent repeats , although it was shown the first time the episode was transmitted. See also ' Politician Choreographer ' sketch. That too was cut.

  • I couldn't find it!

  • Probably the crucifixes.

  • You missed a few spots on the sky, also how do you know the phone is blue?

  • So, Eric was the devil? i bet they fought over that one.

  • I'm not sure about who was the Devil -- but the telephone lineman definitely sounds like Eric! :D

    This is side-splittingly hysterical!!! X-D

  • The lineman's Terry Jones isn't it?

  • I think you have it the wrong way around. the lineman is definitely Terry Jones and the Devil is Eric Idle.

  • Yes, you are correct. My mistake the first time around.

  • This makes me smile inside.

  • colour finally
