Ohh my joys of the blues running deep threw my body, feeln the good times n years fly by watching BB-King getn high, life is how you make it chilln letting yourself lose control, now im doing my own thing feeln da blues run all over me. (= (; xXx
Trolls will plague the Interwebz forerever. Taste is a matter of opinion, and some people aren't entitled to one! If these trolls can play better blues, I swear I will offer public apologies. Until then, I stand by my angry statement; these people are simple tasteless.
i saw bb live and he was the coolest guy ever, he gave out picks to everybody in the front row and talked to the audience and even took time to thank the opening act.
CHICAGO, GOD! you are on the computer for pity sakes, duh. I saw him live twice in Chicago, once at Mr. Kelly's downtown Chicago(late sixties or early seventies), now burned down. Also, saw him at the house of blues in orlando fla . He's the best. I bought this album when it first came out, dont know what happened to the damn thing? "And now you want to give them Back!"
I must be getting old because this was one of the first blues album I ever bought as well, however when I took it home I had to put it under the needle on the turn table there were no CD players in 1970 and I didn't cry all night but I did grt high all night. $10.00 lids
My God, this was one of the first blues albums I ever bought. I took it home and put it in my c.d. player one night and literally cried at the beauty of the sounds. I think this was B.B. King's finest guitar playing right here.
Yes. In order to understand where B comes from, you have to see him live. This LP is excellent. . . don't get me wrong. But it's not like seeing him live.
i think this one of his greatest albums,ever-live or otherwise!!!! i remember my grandpa having this on cassette yrs ago, then i bought it when it came out on cd. been a long time since i've listened to some gd ol' B.B.!!! i still get chills when i hear this song!!
The greatest ... there isn't a guitar player out there who doesn't wish he could play like B.B. King. If I'm not mistaken, Frank Sinatra said something along the lines of: "If we could all sing the way we wanted to, we'd all sing like B.B. King." Not the best, but the greatest. Nobody plays with more feeling. I'd give my left nut to play like B.B. Not Hendrix, not Clapton, not Stevie Ray Vaughan. B.B. King. Best Blues guitarist that ever lived.
B B King is like the Bach of blues in that he has absorbed most or all blues styles into a style that is the most sophisticated of all his contemporaries while being true to the original models of the Delta Blues very crude and achaic forms. B B has done this with a genius and clarity that is perfectly on parr with a classical composer.
@rccarfreak997 I would love to do that, in fact there is no other living musicians i would like to see more than him. It's just that I'm afraid he won't tour Europe anymore. I hope I'm wrong. And I have to agree with you for this being my favourite (blues) album.
@rccarfreak997 He really played his heart out on this album. I had it on c.d. when I was a kid. I collected alot of B.B. King and this was my favorite one,
I think, the real beauty of youtube is that it brings people together;people that enjoy quality. Could somone point out to me a guitar riff that is equal to the opening 2:46 of this cut? I'm 48, I've listened to it several thousand times now, I can't think of one. God bless you BB King!
No fucking shit! This is the best man. I love this guy. He is fucking awesome. Come on man, listen to this riff. This shit is happening. I just had two bottles of sake and I can say, I am fucking stoked by this take. Yeahhhh baby!!!!!
Alright, listen to the first 2 minutes and 51 seconds. OK, where do you hear guitar solo like that these days? Oh yeah, no where. God Bless youi BB King! I love you man!
@BoxenRobl Cook county is Chicago's county including surrounding suburbs. It's one of the toughest prisons around. GREAT LIVE MATERIAL, glad somebody has this on youtube.

The opening guitar solo kills me every time. He is the Master.
This is an extended thesis on what Blues is, and how to play it.
Except no one can quite play it like BB.

@Zumramania You should really change it cause you got it wrong....it's not "blueS" but "BLUE can you get"
Think you should correct it....
You said it right: "it's BB's music" so...keep it the way he named it!

Great playing. I prefer guitar tone on Live at the Regal. Not that this is a bad tone, it's dirty and funky, but not as pretty as Regal's.

The two best blues albums in existence are BB King Live in Cook County Jail, and Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live.

for their respective styles, I'll agree, but there are levels of the blues.
I mean Texas Flood (Stevie Ray Vaughan) has got to be one of the greatest as well... its just a different style
