  • FINSTA BUNDY

  • This is my favourite Miles Davis track of all time, and probably my favorite bass lines in any song.

  • Do I hear a hint of Sade's "Soldier Of Love" in this?

  • the sample is clearly 0.59 in the 21 minute version. But it doesn't play the same when i try to re-sample it. Also i cant find the second part of the sample and the exact bassline. the second part has to be made up of different notes through the song. The bassline in the beginning of suicidal thoughts is clearly filtered so it can be from anywhere. Your going to need to know both songs to the t by heart to properly re-sample.

  • great great great.....ce travail sur les timbres et les sonorités....du grand art avec presque rien.

  • Anyone else just waiting for that 4 second Biggie sample? In the studio version in comes in at like 59 secs and goes out at 1 min 3 secs

  • WHATEVER PARTY'S OVER TELL THE REST OF THE CREW

  • Wasn't this sampled on one of those interludes on It Was Written by Nas?

  • Google search lonely fire by miles davis

click play button on google page

sample at 00:59 (song is 21+ minutes)

  • With 99 miles left, on the Avis rental car

blowing horns like Miles Davis at the pearly gates

    God let me in

  • @RaynMan718 give me a room by elias wit espn

  • @Jordanfan908 I know I got more sins than two lesbians

Been back and forth across the border like Mexicans

But (I'm runnin') like New York pedestrians

Trying not to scuff my Nike Air checks again

  • at what second is the suicidal thoughts sample????

  • better than the biggie sample is the Finsta Bundy sample.

  • "Lonely Fire" is a 21:minutes tracks on the LP "Big Fun"....not 9:40 like on this vidéo...so samples are missing on that video

  • HAHAHA

some peeps need to clean their ears

we got 3 f*ckin samples on that track

    biggie "sucicidal thoughts"

frankenstein "what does it all means"

    finsta bundy "feel the high"

and no need to argue ... they sampled that track from Miles. PERIOD !

  • * Miles Davis - trumpet * Wayne Shorter - tenor saxophone * Bennie Maupin - bass clarinet * Khalil Balakrishna - sitar * Chick Corea - electric piano * Joe Zawinul - electric piano, Farfisa organ * Dave Holland - double bass * Harvey Brooks - Fender bass guitar * Jack DeJohnette - drums * Billy Cobham - drums * Airto Moreira - Indian instruments, percussion

  • the sample used for "Suicidal thoughts" is at the very beginning of the track, not being here, as this is only a second half, not sure about the bassline dough...

  • actually yea, it says that on wikipedia... where in the song it comes from... i dont know.

  • all instruments are 1.) the same 2.) mixed at the same levels 3.) and mixed exactly the same spatially (although the stereo width is brought much narrower for Biggie's song). How many jazz songs feature sitar, keys, two bassists, two drummers and a percussionist playing roughly the same rhythms and chord inversions as lonely fire? Also keep in mind the Biggie sample is clearly pitched and not a single sample but rather multiple samples chopped up. I don't know for a fact, it just seems likely

  • just found it, the sample is 0:59 seconds into the full 22 minute version of lonely fire, listen to it on imeem, it isn't ambiguous it is clearly the sample

  • Whatever, party's over, tell the rest of the crew ...

  • Bass line sampled on Suicidal Thoughts. Gotta use your ears kids.

  • gotta use your ears??? you gotta use yours, you're are a fuckin retard theres nothing in hear that could be sampled to it, who the fuck told you this bullshit, wikipedia???? that source is bullshit, they sound nothing alike, your basically saying that any song with a somewhat creepy tone is a suicidal thoughts sample, use your motherfucking ears you deaf man

  • Trapped24621, thanks, you have just proved my point. Throwing on some headphones might help you out....

Now my question to you is, how did you end up listening to Miles Davis' fusion album Bitches Brew when its pretty obvious you're much more of a rap/hip-hop kinda cat? I'm pretty sure you looked up Ready to Die on wikipedia yourself too. Rofl you sir, are a complete tool. Have a good one!

  • I ended up listening to it yes through wikipedia, bt unlike you i'm not a total retard who believes whatever he reads, like holy shit, why am i even arguing with you, tell me where in this song do the notes interact with the same tone as suicidal thoughts???

  • Rofl! I'm guessing you don't even know what a bass is. You're the instigator of this "argument." And omg dude you're totally right. I'm such a retard. I completely wasted my college career studying music. Thank you for showing me the errors of my ways. I apologize for having diverted your time away from your precious hip-hop sessions. I hope you become the next J. Dilla. Have a good one.

  • are you literally mental, how the fuck did you get a college career in music there is NOTHING and i mean NOTHING in hear that samples from suicidal thoughts, you are completely deaf, it is highly hard to believe that you would get a degree, very hard, all i'm asking you is where in the song does it sample???? no where, the instruments arent even the same, i'm not the "instigator" you said there is bass that samples get your ears checked kids and i laughed, then posted my thoughts

  • I said "use" your ears. And you definitely are the instigator by calling people retarded, and flaming wikipedia when you use it yourself rofl. You clearly have no idea how music production goes down. And because you and I will never be on the same page, this replying back and forth will only be a waste of my time and yours. Time to move on, because that's what i'm doing. Have a good one.

  • see you still cant prove to me or show me which point of the song has the same tone, you cant back up anything, instead you just give facts about how much you know about music isolating the real point of the discussion.

  • THe part right at the beginning of this is sampled in suicidal thoughts. IM pretty sure it is.

  • it sure is... thats why im here

  • that pic is kinda scary

  • yea anybody got like a mark on this? like a time mark of where the sample is? Cant quite catch it.

  • which part is the sample for suicidal thoughts and which part is the sample for party over?

  • la brigade & lunatic - 16 rimes

  • MD... magic alchemy ... one of my best, amazing rithmic session

  • which part exactly was sampled on Suicidal Thoughts?

  • The very beginning during the phone call, then when Biggie Starts rapping it's a drum beat and this song is chopped up in a chord progression. Listen to the song if you haven't heard it, it's amazing.

  • dave holland jack dejonette or billy cohbam, airto moreira, chick corea and/or joe zawinul build an amazing net of sounds and effects where to grab

  • this song is a pearl, i don't know why it is not considered one of the davis master track of electric period, the rithmic path created for the soloists is really great

  • Mobb Deep - Party Over

  • Nortorious BIG Suidal Thoughts

  • This song was sampled on Notorious BIG(a.k.a biggie smalls) song "Suicidal Thoughts"...

  • nah it was party over from mobb deep

  • Yeah that too, also Lonely Fire, says so in credits.

  • @Heeey333 Both absolutely brilliant songs, in my opinion.

  • thanks from italy

  • great !! thanks !!

  • thanks for uploading this.

  • no problem:)

  • @rusamene could you upload the Big Fun version?
